i have been on u500 now for 6 mths and i like it , but it has caused some very low bs (21-60) and had to call 911. but overall i have gotten it under control and now my bs are no more than 250 and most below 160 and i feel better. but you have to stay on top of this insulin, it will drop you fast.

I was on a fast acting insulin, Dr. changed me to this U-500. It's caused low BG leveles every night,in the 62 to 47 range, it last to long for me. I'm back to the U-100 and about 140 units a day. My H1c levels are in the 5.5 to 6.7 range, so doing good in that sence.

I went from 600unit of n and r insuin per day to 80unit of u500 per day with better sugar levels. Also I am off metformin and actos. This has been the best I have done in 5 years.

I have talked with my doctor ever since I started taking r 500 and using a pump.I have gained 30 lbs,injectin sites are large lumps,sore,my skin is very thick,with in seconds of insluin going into my body I get so hot,I feel like I am burning up.When I take off the pump to change,my body cools off.It is awful,also I got breast cancer after beinging on it. I can not say it was the cause,but the heat was worse in that breast. But the dr. does not listen,I am on the insulin still,I had took shots for 10 years or so before,no heat, then.I also cough,I live in small town,this Dr. is a diabetic dr.Ihave to have something to help with my diabetes and would be glad to go back to shots,I pray that the cancer was not ,because of the insulin,there was no people in my family who had cancer,but the awful heat is bad.Also I stay sick at my stomace.Read More Read Less
