Horrible horrible pill. I have been on it for 2 years. It gives me weird bumps on my chin that don't go away unless I pick at them and scab over into horrible pus scabs. I am not me, I yell at stupid things, cry for no reason and have suicidal thoughts. My emotions are like I am on my period times 10. I literally can't stop crying or being angry at everyone. This pill has completely changed who I ...

My first pill was Lutera, and this pill caused me to have major mood swings. I took a break from the pill and my doctor switched me to Azurette, and I have not been more pleased. I had no mood swings, no weight gain, really I had no side effects. I'm very happy with this birth control.

Wow. I thought that I was just loosing it but the more I read the more I'm convinced that my recent sadness and mood swings are a result of this pill. I've only been taking it for a bout a month but I've started to feel nausea and just sad for no reason at all. I couldn't figure out why but I think this might be it. I was also switched from another pill to this one. The first one was way better.

Like many others who have written Azurette reviews on this site, I too was on Kariva prior to Azurette. With Kariva I experienced not many difficulties. I've now been on Azurette for 6 months. With Azurette, I have experienced much more cramping and other issues, than with Kariva. Azurette has not been that bad, but it's definetly not as good as Kariva.

Be careful with Azurette! I was on Kariva and then Walgreens switched me over to Azurette as well. I have been on Azurette for a year now and just getting off because I've been dealing with monthly yeast infections. My doctor figured out that the last week "period week" of pills contains estrogen which has been giving me yeast infections every month. My body needs that last week off. I had been trying to figure out my yeast infections for 4 or 5 months and we finally figured it out ...so just an fyi for any of you out there dealing with the same thing. I've been off of it for two weeks now and feel just awful. I've been getting crazy anxiety attacks at the most random times and awful pressure headaches. I can't wait for my body to balance back out... hope this helps!Read More Read Less

This medication is horrible. I was on Kariva for several years and was very happy with it. My pharmacy then switched me over to Azurette and since then I have had nothing but issues with this drug. I am a migraine sufferer and since taking Azurette, my migraines are worse and more frequent. I am having at least 4 migraines a month and not just during my period. I also have had increased anxiety, mood changes, and hair loss. I DO NOT recommend this product...it should be taken off the market. It is nothing like Kariva! I just called another pharmacy and switched back to Kariva. I am hoping I have better luck with Kariva like I did in the past. Read More Read Less

I had been on Kariva, when my pharmacy changed my prescription to Azurette. They told me that it was essentially the same thing, the same dose and everything. Yet....I have felt completely horrible the past few months while on Azurette. I thought at first that it was just my body adjusting to the pill, but no. I have gained approximately 10 pounds, whereas on Kariva I gained zero. I just feel disgusted being on these pills and I am extremely active. I am a Corrections officer and I am still in the National guard. I was just glad to see that I wasn't the only one experiencing these horrible symptoms. Read More Read Less

I have been on Azurette for one month and was only put on it while I undergo surgery to correct a septate uterus. My doctor put me on the pill just to prevent pregancy right now to ensure a successful surgery so that after it's over we can begin trying to get prenant. I noticed that I was really nauseous, my breasts were very tender, and I gained 5 pounds in one week! I run and do pilates consistenly, so I know this is out of the norm for me. I can't wait to get off this stuff and am lucky I only have to take it for one month. Also, I never thought that these weird dreams that I've been having were due to Azurette until I read the other postings...no wonder!!! Do not take this birth control. I am so mortified at the weight gain, nausea, and nightmares I'm having. I agree with the other poster that she thought she might be pregnant with all the side effects she was having. I was questioning the same thing. I've been moody and my husband's first comment was "I think that birth control is ruining your personality...I want my wife back!" Don't take this pill.Read More Read Less

I recently visited my gyno after experience bleeding during sex, which according to the internet is nothing good. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized I had begun experiencing symptoms since switching from Kariva to Azurette about eight months ago. Over these months, I have gained about 15 pounds, had mood swings, noticed hormonal changes such as an increasingly greasy scalp, spotting between periods, heart palpatations, and have almost passed out twice. I never put these symptoms together; however, reading these other posts, I am almost positive this is related to Azurette. I will never take this pill again. I do NOT recommend this birth control to anyone.Read More Read Less

I was automatically switched from Kariva to azurette which I thought was weird but hoped it would work well for me. Since I've been switched to azurette I've noticed intense mood swings, depression, increased appetite, stomach pains every now and then when I wait too long to eat, and weight gain! I've probably gained 10-15 lbs since they switched the pill. My heart speeds up as well sometimes after taking it which isn't good. I also noticed a oily scalp which wasn't this bad before. I'm going back to Kariva (I hope it's still available!). I'm pretty sure my boyfriend is sick of my mood swings and so am I. I definitely wouldn't recommend azurette! Read More Read Less

I've been on Kariva for 9 years without any problems, never a side effect. Since being switched to azurette i've had nothing but problems. My boobs hurt so bad they cannot be touched, sex hurts plus a whole lot of other things. I finally went to the doctor I find out that I have a cyst on my ovary (Usually people go on the pill to take care of this problem...) I've never had problems before there is no way this can be the same drug as they claim it do be. I'm so unhappy that they are no long administing Kariva.....Next step? Who knows..... I began taking this medication in January of 2010. Walgreens switched me from Kariva to Azurette as they did not get the Kariva anymore. Since then, I have been having extremely vivid night terror dreams. Also, I am very depressed, moody and irritable. I also have extremely chapped lips. I am not sure if that is because of the Azurette, however, the chapped lips came on right after I began using the Azurette. I am switching to Walmart, who does carry Kariva, to avoid having to take the Azurette anymore.Read More Read Less

Nothing too bad. I've noticed stomach aches daily, but nothing that I can't deal with. I haven't had any bleeding, and I'm on the week where I get my period so we'll see how that goes. the last BC pill I was on didn't make my period any shorter, but it made it regular and a tiny bit lighter.

I feel I am RAGING with hormones. I get pissed with a drop of a dime. I find myself yelling at my kids and feeling such anger like never before! I've been on it for a month and haven't stopped bleeding and still get cramps. So far not liking it. I'm going to give it 3 months.

Walgreen's switched me to Azurette in December of '09. Had been on Kariva for years with great results and no weight gain. Since being on Azurette, I've experienced edima in my legs and feet, irritability that's off the chart, depression, nausea that is all day, every day and oil hair and skin. My thyroid is also now overactive (I'd never had problems before.) I stopped taking Azurette a week ago and have noticed a great change for the better in the way I feel. I wouldn't wish Azurette on my worst enemy! Read More Read Less

I was switched to this drug and have experienced a number of problems. I have had sever headaches, tiredness, mood swings, and now really high blood pressure. I have read several reviews and think this drug should be pulled from the market. I have not been on a birth control pill that made me sooo sick.

The Pharmacy switched me from Kariva to Azurette and it was fine for the 1st month. After month 2 I began to experience ZERO libido, severe mood swings, feelings of sadness/depression, uncontrollable crying, vivid nightmares, extreme headaches. My periods came late, I began gaining about 5 lbs per month despite the fact I have a very active lifestyle, my boyfriend is a professional athlete so we're very active and have a very healthy diet. On the 4th month I gained 15 lbs IN ONE MONTH! Also have ZERO sex drive and again, my boyfriend is a gorgeous professional athlete and the greatest man on EARTH! Once I figured out what was wrong I called the doctor to have them clearly state "FILL AS PRESCRIBED/DO NOT SUBSTITUTE" on my Rx so that the Pharmacy does not switch me off of Kariva. If the Kariva is working for you, I'm very against switching to Azurette, save yourself the agony!Read More Read Less

I too went to Walgreens w/my prescription for Kariva and was given Azurette. After reading this, I went back to walgreens and demanded Kariva instead of Azurette (I've always had limited side effects w/Kariva). After a discussion the pharmasist gave me the Kariva. The pharmasist said that my Dr needed to put "DO NOT SUBSTITUTE" on the RX which ensures I will always get Kariva; this is the only way to ensure you will always get it!!
