I have had no negative effects from this treatment and have been taking it for almost 3 years. I think this goes to show that all types of birth control effect women differently. The only side-effect that I experience is that I do not have a period anymore, which to me is a good thing.

I agree with the other reviews, I have been breaking out and gaining weight. Also have noticed more bloating and I have noticed vaginal dryness. I am requesting a switch immediately.

After taking this pill for almost 7 weeks, I currently have the worst acne I have ever had. Huge cysts on my face and also below my jaw line. I have gained around five pounds and am stopping this pill. I would rather have bad cramps than deal with the side effects of this pill!

My pharmacist switched me to Glidess vs. the Microgestin I took before. They said it would look different but it was the same thing just generic. My husband mentioned I have been extra moody lately and is everything ok? I have been irritable and my face is breaking out too, also with red patches as mentioned from another reviewer. I have gained weight so I have been going to the gym 5 days a week and it is taking forever to get these 10 lbs off. I think I will call my pharmacy tomorrow to request the Microgestin again. On a side note, I was taking Ortho.tri.cyclen low before and I got pregnant so I won't go there again either. I needed something stronger to prevent cysts which I also had before so the Microgestin is the one for me. Glidess should just glide on out the pharmacy!Read More Read Less

HATE HATE HATE. I think it's effective (I sure hope it is!) but I've been moody, nauseous, and worst, have been breaking out like crazy since being on it! I will never, EVER take Gildess again... I'm now insisting upon the Microgestin I was originally prescribed.

I was on Junel Fe for almost 2 years when the pharmacy said it was unavailable so for the same price 19.99 I got gildess. Besides extreme moodiness the first week I have been fine. This is only my first month but my period came regularly, I have minimal cramps and I'm not pregnant! wooo

My insurance upped the cost of Microgestin to pick up at the store so I was sent Gildress FE 1/20 instead. I have been extremely moody and I feel bloated 2 weeks out of the month. I have already renewed my microgestin... I will pay the extra.

I was originally prescribed Junel Fe 1/20 and took Junel Fe 1/20 for seven months with little to no side effects. My prescription provider, Express Scripts, substituted Junel Fe 1/20 with Gildess Fe 1/20. I took Gildess Fe 1/20 for 2 weeks. Within the two week period I gained 7 pounds, began having sharp & sudden headaches, became severely depressed and suicidal. I am healthy & happy and don't normally suffer from depression. About a week after changing back to Junel Fe 1/20, the depression went away and I no longer feel suicidal. If you're depressed and on this medication, please stop taking it and see your doctor immediately!Read More Read Less

My pharmacy switched to gildess fe 1/20 after I've been on microgestin fe 1/20 since 2006. I hate it and it makes me highly emotional and I don't feel like myself. I feel depressed and angry. I am switching back to microgestin ASAP. If you've been used to a certain generic brand, I wouldn't recommend switching.

taking this drug was a huge mistake. i was put on it because i had long heavy periods. i thought "great this will make my sex life better" - WRONG. lowered sex drive to the point where i dont even wanna masturbate, horrible cramps, bloating, gained TEN pounds before the third month, headaches, SEVERE fatigue, boobs hurting like crazy, mood swings to the point of getting in arguments with all my friends. i decided i took my last one today. i cant wait to get back to normal even if it means heavy periods. nothing is worth this. i couldnt get OUT OF BED for the first month. exhausted ALL THE TIME.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this because of the terrible experience I had on my other birth control I was taking, and this one is much better. It's a lower dosage, but I never get nauseous, headaches, or spotting. The only thing I will complain about is my breasts feel extremely tender all the time and I had terrible backaches the first couple of weeks of taking the pill. Also, my face tends to break out a little when I'm on the placebo pills,so for someone who has never had acne in their life, that kind of sucks. My sex drive has increased...tremendously. Overall no complaints. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Junel Fe and have been on it for a year and a half with no problems. Last month, my pharmacy substituted it with Gildess because they didn't have any Junel. They said the two medications were equivalent and that they should have equivalent effects on me. They couldn't have been more wrong. Gildess has made me nauseous after eating, and worst of all I am mad and grumpy every day. The smallest things set me off and I have never been like this. My pharmacy was once again out of Junel this month so they prescribed me Microgestin and I just hope this is better than Gildess. I'm sick of being mad and angry for no reason!Read More Read Less

my 16 year old has heavy periods and doctor put her on this pill, within a few days she got a rash on her neck that left ugly marks, the doctor said is not very usual and refused to change her prescription, we took her off it anyways!

Pharmacist switched me to this and I HATE it. I've been on the pill for 2 years and never had breakthrough bleeding until taking Gildess. Also gave me bad acne which I never had before either. Do NOT take it, although it has been effective at preventing pregnancy the side effects are not worth it

I used to be on microgestin and then my pharmacy switched me to gildess. It's been over a year since i've been on this pill. I HATE this pill! Supposedly, it's the same drug, just a different name but it is not the same pill for a number of reasons. If you don't take this pill at the same exact time every single day, you will experience spotting anywhere from 3 days-1 week. I also have experienced painful and relentless cramps on and off for days. One of the main reason I take BC is for my painful menstrual cramps..It has also made me gain wieght!!If you choose this BC, I would greatly suggest getting the name brand and NOT the generic. Gildess is probably the worst BC i've ever been on. Read More Read Less

Overall i am satisfied with the way it has kept me regular on my periods. I get a period every month, it is very light, and only lasts a couple days. I have had some pretty bad side effects while on this medication though. I have been on Loestin and microgestin which both worked very well. But with Gildess I got some acne on my chin which is on going, i have also gained weight, terrible craming which i never got while on any of the other brands, and lastly migranes.

I first started microgestin (which I loved), then the rx switched me to gildess. The first week I started taking it and the first week of the 2nd month- I had nausea. I suffer from headaches frequently. I feel mad when I'm on this medication. Everything tends to set me off really easily. I am having lighter periods which only last 2 days. I no longer have a sex drive since I started this medication.

I was given Gildess last month as a generic for Loestrin FE (usually I'm given microgestin FE, but I switched pharmacies). My hair started falling out in clumps! I called my physician and, after looking it up, she told me that Gildess has a higher physiologic effect on androgens, even though the amount of progesterone is the same as what I've been taking. They TYPE of progesterone has an impact. I immediately switched back to microgestin, but my hair is still falling out. I'm hoping it stops soon, it's terrible! Read More Read Less

I have been feeling hopeless, tired, frequent headaches. And it's been exacerbated by ingestion of this Medication. My Insurance Provider states that this is the birth control that they cover and I used to take OrthoTri Cyclen. But I finally see that ever since I started taking this medication, I have been feeling emotionally unstable.
