I have had no negative effects from this treatment and have been taking it for almost 3 years. I think this goes to show that all types of birth control effect women differently. The only side-effect that I experience is that I do not have a period anymore, which to me is a good thing.

I noticed bloating right away and skin outbreaks. First month gained 3 lbs.

It definietly ruined my skin, I had clear skin with the occaisional blemish every few months when my period came around, but with this pill I was constantly breaking outwith huge pimples on my face that hurt extremely bad. I just went to the doctor and got it changed because I can't stand the scarring it is doing to my face.

I was originally prescribed Microgestin, and my pharmacy switched the generic brand to Gildess a little over a year ago. At first I was annoyed by this. For about the first month or so, I broke out on my face but it wasn't anything major. However, as my body got used to Gildess I realized that it made a huge difference. I prefer Gildess SO much more than Microgestin. I asked my pharmacist why I had such an improvement in side effects even though it's supposed to be the same drug. She told me that even though the active ingredients are the same, it's the inactive ingredients that make a difference. After being switched to Gildess, my skin has significantly cleared up (Microgestin was giving me painful, cystic acne every so often) and my periods are less painful and don't last more than 4 days. I also noticed a significant increase in vaginal lubrication and comfort. Microgestin was causing me to "dry out," making intercourse extremely uncomfortable. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with Gildess and I hope my pharmacy does not change it to another brand in the future.Read More Read Less

Missed my period twice on this and it freaked me out (but I wasn't pregnant), but after reading other reviews I guess it happens with this. I have noticed dark spots on my face and people keep asking me what they are. My skin on my face used to be pretty flawless so that's a bummer. I'm close to one year on it and although at first I used to get headaches (first couple months), now I'm totally used to my schedule and it does its job.

My pharmacists switched me to Gildess from Microgestin (supposedly the same medication by a different name), and I really dislike Gildess. I had been taking Microgestin for over a year, and the month I switched to Gildess my face broke out terribly, worse than before I had begun taking birth control at all. I also gained a couple pounds, which didn't really cause any concern. Overall, I know they say it's the same medication as what I was taking, but if that were true my face would not have broken out and my weight would not have fluctuated within such a short period of time.Read More Read Less
