I started using Plavix for this condition but I had too many side effects. My doctor changed me to Effient 10mg and once the Plavix was gone, I started to feel great. I have no side effects to this drug and if needed, I will stay on it for the rest of my life. Effient has been very effective for me.

I have been on efficient since March 8th, 2010. Some side effects I experienced was/is skin rash on my arms and chest. I also have some back/flank pain. I have been told by a pharmacist that this drug has caused cancerous tumors in 48 percent of people taking it. I am hoping this is not the real story. I am afraid to go on plavix because I have been doinf fairly well on effient. ANY suggestions.

Had to take effient because a drug elluding stent had clotted off after 5 years ok.If I knew what I know now I would have chosen a bare metal stent.Higher chance of stenosis but less likely to clot.Looks like I will be on this drug for a long time.

After the 3rd day severe swelling of the throat. Chest pain, stomach discomfort, back pain and tired. Also swelling of the hands and legs. Confused if the benefit is worth it.

I have been on this drug since having 3 heart attacks and 3 stents inserted in July of 2010. So far, so good. I just can't understand why it costs so much. I have been forced to acquire this drug from overseas since there is no way that I can keep paying over $200.00 a month for it. I get it for about a 1/3 of the cost here. Go figure!!

tried plavix first, had bad reactions, changed to this drug. still had problems with rapid and uneven heart beats. very tired and dizzy. changed to taking it at night when I went to bed. that helped a lot. still some what dizzy but the longer i was on it the less the effects. still had palpatations. had a rash, doctor just blew them off, and they did clear up somewhat. now off these drugs as the steint I had is a coated one and does not require long term blood thinners. now having I think with drawls from it. or just have to adjust to not have it in my system anymore.Read More Read Less

Took this drug because of problems taking Plavix. Everything was fine first few days then started to itch like crazy all over and developed a broad rash on chest and on neck and behind ears...internal med doc said i was having an allergic reaction to my latest med. So cardiologist prescribed yet another horrible--long an short back to Plavix (which is still a problem with side effects!). Like lot of people posting about these drugs would like to take just aspirin but docs don't think as effective (although aspirin is usually "on board" also). Bottom line is if your chemistry doesn't tolerate the drug industry's "wonders", you are out of luck.Read More Read Less

Started taking effient (10 mg) 1/30/10. In a 6 month period was hospitalized twice with severe gastrointestinal bleeding. Bleeding did not stop until off Effient 3 days or more each time. Transfusions required both times and after every test imaginable could not find the bleed source. Choice was either colostomy or stay off the Effient. Now on Plavix for a month, so far so good.

I was on Plavix for 4 years and it was not effective, had a blocked stent and almost died. now I am on effient, but my insurance wont pay for it and it costs $206.00 a month, had a 30 day free sample took that, but I cant afford it now. I really cant tell any difference between plavix and effient yet, I still feel the same.
