I have tried many thyroid medications for my Hashimoto's, and I've never felt well until I switched to Tirosint. The important thing to remember is that this medication is about 25% more potent than an equivalent dose of, say, Synthroid or Levothroid. For example, 50 mcg of Tirosint would be equivalent to about 62.5 mcg of Levothroid. Keep this in mind before switching or you might end up taking t...

So far I am really liking Tirosint. I have been on it for 4 weeks at 50mcg and will need to bump it up because my TSH is 49.5. I was on Synthroid and generic but it appears I was allergic to it and didn't know it. I am keeping an open mind and we will see what happens. I would recommend trying it if you can't get stable on generic or Synthroid.

I was on Synthroid for about a year but switched to Tirosint due to gastrointestinal symptoms. I feel much better on this medication.

My hair is finally growing back and blood levels normalized within two months of starting this medication. It's expensive but for me it is worth it.

Hashimotos diagnosis over 4yrs. ago...You name it I have tried it !!!! Naturethroid!,Synthroid, Cytomel and generic T4. I now take Tirosint 50mcg.daily and at the end of 6 months my T4 is WNL. HOWEVER....none of my other labs are normal and have actually worsened!!!!! MY ENDO SEEMS TO THINK THIS IS FINE....HE is NOT the one experiencing severe leg pain, sleeping 10-12 hrs.per night along with a daily 1-2 hr.nap. We will not discuss the headaches, exhaustion and now depression and Tirosint costs approx.$100. Per Month.I am CONVINCED that lab values DO NOT tell the whole story!!!!! So disappointed with Tirosintt.....Will discontinue ASAP but I am not certain what to do next....I feel my overall health is deteriorating. I need a Dr. Who WILL LOOK AT MY THINNING HAIR ,DRY SKIN AND DEEP DARK CIRCLES AROND MY EYES plus WT.GAIN and listen to what I am saying..... I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!!!!!!! DESPITE A NORMAL T 4-----I am NOT doing we'll.Read More Read Less

First time i stated to take medication for my hypothyroidism stated with 25mcg dosis and i felt great with more energy was really nice new experience and no side effects, then my doctor increased to 50mcg dosis then hell stated with high blood pressure, palpitations, swollen throat, cold sweating and very strong neck, arms, leg pain and swollen hands. Be careful with this drug, call your doctor asap if you feeling bad side effects.

I started to have some heart palps after 12 years on Synthroid so my dr thought we should try Tirosint so see if maybe some of the other ingredients in Synthroid were what was bothering me. We started low at 25 mcg and worked up to 75 mcg but during that time. It started to work to bring my T4/T3 into line, but I also suffered from terrible back cramps, chest soreness, joint pain, nausea, dizziness, a buzzing in my head and loss of appetite. For the palps, I am on .06 mcg twice daily which is working wonders... haven't had any in a month :) But I am going back on Synthroid today bc Tirosint maybe was too strong for my system.Read More Read Less

I was on Armour Thyroid but when the FDA forced the manufacturer to change the filler from potato (used for 40 years successfully) to corn, Armour no longer agreed with me. Unfortunately most if not all thyroid hormone replacement meds contain corn-based filler now. Tirosint has no fillers and I tolerate it very well. The only drawback in my opinion is the cost--nearly $100 per month.

On Synthroid for over 20 years. Have never been more ill in my life. On Tirosint since May 2014 and it is so much better. I've lost weight and reduced bloating. I am so grateful my doctor switched me.

This has worked very well for treating my graves. I started at 3 times a week and upped it to 4 times a week. My thyroid levels have been great. At first the dose was once daily but it seems to work so efficiently that everday gave me hyper symptoms. Reduction in dose worked perfectly.

in the beginning have your doctor start out with a low dose and work your way up... I read it is safer that way.

I have been on synthroid tablets for twenty years - no side effects no problems. The pharmacy switched me to this (not my Dr.) and after taking it for a month I had diarrhea, headaches, muscle weakness, insomnia, brain fog, dizzy spells, leg cramps, stomach cramps joint pain, hair loss, and weight gain. It has been three weeks of this. I stopped taking it altogether and went to my doctor.

This works better than most thyroid pills. More effective. The only problems I have are the price and that my ins. won't cover it.

I felt better at first, but after a month, I felt disoriented and had extremely dry, sore eyes. Difficulty concentrating.

I'm still not sure if Tirosint will work for me. At first, I felt better...more energy and lost weight. However, I developed heart palps and anxiety at 100mcg (after 5 days) and also at 88mcg (after 1 week). I also felt extremely disoriented at each dose. I am now on 75mcg (for about 1 month) and no longer have anxiety or heart palps. However, my eyes are dry and sore. An eye doc told me I have "ocular rosacea"...not sure if it's related to the tirosint, but I have never had problems with my eyes before in my life. I am also slightly disoriented, but I'm not sure if it's because of my eyes. Also, my "essential" or "familial" tremor has become worse...especially after activities. Will probably try a lower dose before stopping it completely.Read More Read Less

I was on Synthroid for my thyroid condition for years. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease last year and my endo put me on the Tirosint because there is no gluten in it. You would be surprised at the number of meds that do have gluten. It's been a real education! Overall, I've had no side effects with these meds and am pleased with the results.

Well I was on Tirosint for 3 months and if changed my life. I had more energy than I'd had in years just felt wonderful. For about 8 days I started having unbearable back pains didn't thing nothing of it because I have a back injury but never has it hurt this bad. Went to back Doc BP was 167/107, I don't have BP problems...I'm always low as a matter of fact. I also had had some chest pains and my left eye wouldn't stop twitching, a few dizzy spells and night sweats at times but just blew them off. I stopped Tirosint to take back meds for a couple of days didnt want to mix the meds. After being off the Tirosint almost two weeks and pain meds for about 9 days my back felt great no pain meds either,my eye stopped twitching and I felt better. Started back yesterday with Tirosint...eye twitching, back and leg killing me dizzy. It has to be the Tirosint not taking any thing else. Back Doctor threatened to put me on BP meds,NOT! I still think its the best thyroid med. just to darn strong and I only take 50mg.Read More Read Less

I have been on Tirosint for about 8 months now, so I feel like I have a pretty good amount of time to rate it. Overall, I feel like this has been the best thyroid medication I've been on in the 5 years since I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. My weight has since leveled out, I have a lot more energy, and feel more like my old self. I did have a couple of instances of heart palpitations and night sweats, but since I am a 40-something female, I can't absolutely say it's the medication. Way better than the generic Levothyoxine or the Levoxyl I took before. Read More Read Less
