I switched to Gianvi from yaz because of the price after yaz stopped that cool $25 program. I wasn’t interested in paying over $50 for birth control. I must admit, I was freaking out after I read the reviews on this site. My doctor calmed me down after I called her and she was right. There is one positive review on this site that I read that gave me courage to try. Therefore, ladies I have to echo...

DO NOT TAKE THIS. I was on yaz for 2 years, and did fine, minus the final withdrawal. but this drug, by day 2 turned me into a mental case. COMPLETELY PSYCHOTICLY DEPRESSED, it's made me feel like life is nothing, and my boyfriend and i constantly fight and i'm this insecure, negative nutcase. this is a very bad birth control pill, and it does not have the same ingredient to combat PMDD. I used to take Yaz but switched because of prices. Honestly, I enjoy Gianvi better than Yaz. I have lighter, shorter periods now. I have no complaints whatsoever about this medication. It really shows how medicines can affect people differently. You just have to find what works best for you. I recommend at least trying Gianvi and seeing if it works for you.

I honestly felt very scared taking Gianvi with all the negatives reviews I read. I called my doctor's office the day after I took my first pill because I was freaking out. But the nurse reassured me, this pill is just as effective as the brand. Per all they commercials & information online it seems Yaz has been getting a lot of attention. I took Yaz before for a month or two & never had any problems, neither with Gianvi and for only $5 I will continue to take it unless otherwise advised by my GYN. Don't knock it until you've tried it yourself. I almost stopped taking it due to the reviews but I have not experienced none of the symptoms mentioned. I got 2 pimples the first day after that they went away & my face looks fine. I take the pill at bedtime so I haven't had any problems with nausea or any other bad reaction. Every one is different & will react differently, just how things work. Good Luck!Read More Read Less

I was on Yaz for a few years before the generic was available. I switched because it cost me significantly less $$ each month. I haven't noticed a major difference between Yaz and Gianvi. I'm reading so many horrible reviews but I haven't had the bad experiences many others are describing. I don't smoke, I exercise regularly and I maintain healthy nutrition...so maybe that gives me an advantage. I get moody, but who doesn't? I have IBS so its hard to judge if this pill gives me any gastrointestinal symptoms. I have never gotten a migraine from Gianvi nor have I had any acne breakouts or anything. I have gained a few pounds within the past year which coincidentally has been the amount of time I've been taking Gianvi, but other factors caused the weight gain, not the pill! Overall, it's worked for me.Read More Read Less

I am not happy with this pill. My boyfriend and parents have told me that I have been very moody for the past few months. Not until I read other reviews did I put 2 and 2 together and came to the conclusion that it was this pill that was affecting my mood. I was switched from Yaz to Gianvi by my pharmacy because they were no longer distributing Yaz because of all of the law suits. Recently I have begun feeling depressed, with no energy, and all I want to do is lay in bed. I have stopped taking this pill and will be researching another form of the birth control pill so that I can feel "normal" again. I started my period 2 days ago and have felt like the 'life' was sucked out of me. Not fun!Read More Read Less

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! I was on Yaz for years and then switched to Gianvi for the price. Big mistake! On Yaz I noticed how it really help me with my PMDD symptoms. I was more calm and handled difficult situations with clarity and a rational mind. However, with Gianvi, I am literally like "a crazy person". I am very moody, easily angered, and have been acting out without thinking. I am going back on Yaz regardless of the price.

I was on Yaz for a year with no side effects at all but my insurance coverage changed and I was switched to Gianvi. I was on it for 2 months before I couldn't take it anymore - I had a persistent headache despite using painkillers, my forehead broke out and I had SEVERE moodswings. The moodswings were so bad I'd cry or go into a rage over nothing, which is what made me realize it was the pills. I called my doctor and I've been taking Aviane for the last 2 months - forehead is still broken out but no headache or moodswings. I miss being on YAZ!Read More Read Less

I had been on Yaz for the last 5 years with great success, my insurance company sent me this generic and I've hated it!!! It cause me to bleed in between period and become very moody, depressed, bloated...I feel like I'm on a roller coaster emotionally and on top of that the 1st try at this gained me 10 pounds!!! Well my employer switched health care providers so my next order was Yaz..... I was so happy...Well by the time I refilled again, it was the generic and OMG my symptoms were even worse this time. I'm on the last pack and will NOT be getting this again. I've asked my doctor to mark DO NO SUBSTITUTE on my next refill, I'll pay the extra to return to some form of normalcy.Read More Read Less

I first want to say that I read a bunch of reviews before starting Gianvi and became extremely nervous because of all the negatively. However, my experience has been absolutely wonderful, with only one complaint. I am on my third pack and am having the best periods of my life.. Little cramps, no bloating, no mood swings, light flow, AMAZING! My mood overall has also been very positive. I'm much less stressed and don't feel as anxious. As for my skin, like my doctor said it did break out very bad at first, but it is clearing up. Also, my boobs have gotten noticeably bigger, which I love. My one and only complaint is I tend to be dry during sex, which has never been a problem before . Buy hey, theres things to help with that ;) I definitely recommend this birth control for anyone wanting help with their periods and or acne!Read More Read Less

I suffered from PMDD for years then started on Yaz, LOVE it, moodiness gone, cramps gone, life was wonderful. Three years later and one day I was given the generic by my pharmacy, I was happy with the price change, but shortly after not happy at all, I was moody, and by moody I mean I was happy one minute and upset the next for NO reason, had cramps like I haven't experienced in years. I took the full 3 month course of the generic, then had a talk with my pharmacy and have been back on Yaz sence. If you aren't suffering from PMDD, then give it a go. If you are, I wouldn't risk it. Yaz has been a miracle for me, I can't say enough good things about it. Yaz literally saved my marriage and possibly my life.Read More Read Less

I was originally on Yaz for PMDD and then switched to Gianvi. So far, the only thing odd was the first 2 weeks- but then I adjusted fine. My placebo days were a bit rougher than on Yaz, but still were okay. I haven't had any bad side effects from switching to the generic as I feared. So, for me, Gianvi is working well enough.

i have been taking the pill for 2 months now. since beginning Gianvi I have become severely moody, irratable, nausea, fatigued, and completely lost my sex drive. I also suffered from severe shortness of breath and dizziness. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. I took YAZ for almost a year with no problems. This drug has me halluciating on a regular basis. I have stopped using the pill and do not recommend it for anybody

I started taking Gianvi 14 days ago-after being prescribed Yaz by my dr. but getting the generic substitution. In the past 2 weeks I have broken out all over my face, scalp, and chest, I am having HORRIBLE mood swings, daily headaches, and can not tolerate wearing my contacts. After finding out that this generic has been on the market for only a few months, I have decided that I will no longer be a "test case" and will stop taking this drug immediately. At this point, I am not interested in trying Yaz either--even though so many people seem to have had a much better experience with it. How is it that as consumers we can be told that Gianvi is an EQUIVALENT drug--and yet so many people have had negative experiences with Gianvi that they didn't have with Yaz?Read More Read Less

I have been on birth control pills for years and started getting migraines around my period two years ago. My physician put me on Yaz continuously with no breaks, so no periods, great! My insurance co changed me to Gianvi and my migraines returned. They became more frequent (every other week), I experienced horrible nausea, bloating, fatigue and yep, also started breaking out. My physician pulled me off this pill and I'll never take it again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

I had been on Yasmin for years and then was put on Yaz for my PMDD symptoms and loved it! However just recently (2 to 3 months) I have been given the generic brand (Gianvi) and I definitely noticed a change. I have ZERO sex drive, am constantly bloated, and my indigestion that I struggle with has got increasingly worse! I loved Yaz and was excited when they started making a cheaper, generic form but I will tell you the extra money is SO worth it. I did not have any mental affects per say but feeling constantly bloated and nauseous all the time can drive one to be irratable and feel crazy. I suggest not taking this drug! Read More Read Less

I have been taking Gianvi in place of Yaz for months now and have had no side effects. I found it to be equally effective and I'm as satisfied with it as I was with Yaz. The price difference makes it even better! I didn't have problems with PMS or PMDD before switching, so I don't have any reports on how it helps with PMDD (or doesn't).

I developed an allergic reaction to this medication during the two weeks that I took it. My torso became covered in little itchy bumps, so I stopped taking it.

Do not take this pill. It made me sicker than hell, ive been more irritable than i've ever been, and have been having axiety attacks that nearly put me in the hospital. I was on yaz for a year and a half and switched because of price. Trust me - the extra money is worth yaz.

It's easy to pop a pill on a daily basis, but it is NOT easy to combat crippling mood swings, acne and daily headaches (rumor has it I also have weight gain to anticipate). I miss my Yaz!

The first month i was on Gianvi, I bled for 3 weeks STRAIGHT. It was awful. After that everything seemed to regulate. Now, in the 4th month, my PMDD symptoms are back I have severe headaches and wake up in the middle of the night nauseous frequently. I know it is all because of this pill. Do not take it!
