I have been taking the Heather tablet (generic for Nor-Q-D) for the past 4 months strictly for birth control reasons. Pros: I haven't gotten pregnant, haven't noticed any weight gain or acne, and no issues with blood clots. Cons: lots of sporadic spotting - very frustrating! I have to set an alarm to remind myself to take the pill at the same time every day & even then I forget fairly often...

I have been on the Heather tablet for approximately 9 months. I am on Heather because I cannot take the estrogen pills. So far it has been effective at preventing pregnancy, but I do need a daily alarm to prompt me to take it precisely at 7 am every morning (thus, 4 stars for ease of use). I am not very satisfied with this pill because I don't have a regular period anymore (it used to be 28 days o...

I am extremely sensitive to estrogen (it makes my chronic migraines 1000 times worse). I had the implant in my arm last year for six months and it made my headaches unbearable, I'm talking ER visits every other week. Heather has worked really well for me, I have been on it for 7 months and have had no negative side effects (and no unwanted pregnancies of course). It's completely stopped me from having a period which is great on one hand, but on the other hand, I do have to worry about getting pregnant and not knowing. I take a pregnancy test every month just to be sure everything is still A-OK! But anyways, if you have chronic migraines like me, I highly suggest you talk to your doctor about trying Heather!Read More Read Less

I love this pill. I take even though my husband has had surgery because it helps with my mood. I also take it because I do not menstruate but maybe once a year and it is very light.

I take it everyday at the same time, with food, and I get nauseous everyday in the afternoon and I get headaches. If I don't take 2 ibuprofen and a Pepcid with it my next day will be terrible. I've been on it for a month now.

I've been on Heather for two months and I HATE IT. I was on Lyza before (Heather is a generic) & didn't have problems. On my 2nd week of Heather I began my period (came on very fast & unexpected) & it lasted for two solid weeks, very heavy. I am having constant headaches and my mood swings are terrifying, I've even thought that suicide was a good idea because I was tired of dealing with day to day life. My doctor put me on Heather because my BP was pre-hypertensive but I read online that high BP is a side effect of this drug. Needless to say, I'm making an appt with my doctor & hoping to get off this pill ASAP.Read More Read Less

Most of the reviews on this BC are fairly negative, but it's important to realize that most people only want to leave reviews if they great or horrible experiences. I'm sensitive to estrogen, so Heather worked perfectly for me. It's pretty standard, you have to remember to take it at the exact same time every day. It was affordable for me and I had absolutely no negative side effects. My breast got a bit sensitive for the first month or so. My period also disappeared which could be a good or bad thing. I took it as a good thing. It was a decent birth control and it did the job.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for years but I have noticed back acne, bloating, and fatigue. I'm going to talk to my gynecologist about going off of the pill all together. I can't take anything with estrogen and this is really frustrating because I never used to have these issues.

You never know when you will be on your period. I took pregnant tests to be safe and not pregnant just be 2-3 weeks late. I been on it 3 months so far. I have gained so much weight from using this kind. I hate it but have no other choice to take it doctor orders.

Just would get worse I even went to a dermatologist was in antibiotics and cream for it. Nothing helped 4-5 days off acne is seriously 80-90% better! AND MOOD SWINGS HOLY CRAP! I had started taking wellbutrin to help that andnow I'm off I feel like my self I am happy I was never depressed just passed off and agitated. No more bc for us too hard on a body I've been on the ring, shot,Mirena, and pills I'm done. Read More Read Less

So far it has been effective at preventing pregnancy, but I do need a daily alarm to prompt me to take it precisely at 7 am every morning (thus, 4 stars for ease of use). I am not very satisfied with this pill because I don't have a regular period anymore (it used to be 28 days on the dot, like clockwork). Initially, I experienced very frequent spotting and bleeding for the first 3 or 4 months, with extended periods and intermittent cramping. Even though I use a period tracker app, I can never know when to expect my period. I have also experienced the extreme swelling and breast tenderness that another reviewer noted. It is very frustrating to not know when to expect my period, how long it will be, how intense the cramps will be, or even how many times I will get it in a month. At one time I was getting it every other week! In this way, it is very inconvenient. My reason for coming to this forum is because I am over a week late and I was wondering about the failure rate of this medication. I cannot wait until I'm finished with school so I can get off this pill. (Or for one to be on the market for men). With the irregular cycles, I wonder if my eggs are being wasted? I do want a child soon, but I'm in my late 30's and don't know how many good eggs I have left!Read More Read Less

I just started about a month ago, from a combo pill that wasn't regulating my periods anymore and gave me dizziness/constant bloating. After the first week on heather I started getting very dizzy/was unable to focus which would last all day, but that only lasted a few days. Dizziness is basically gone, but recently I've noticed that more of my hair is falling out than normal. Which is scary! But it should probably stop. Also occasional spotting and my period goes on and off for the weekish that I have it. Read More Read Less

I'm 28 and I've been taking this birth control for two months. No issues the first month however during the first week of the second pack I developed massive swelling in both breast and severe tenderness/pain in both, as one might experience during or after pregnancy. This lasted until I began spotting (basically it was a period but heavier and longer than what I've ever experienced) in the middle of the pack. The swelling and pain in my breasts gradually decreased during the course of that week. Seemed everything was back to normal.. Then almost immediately after the spotting ended, near the middle of the third week of pills, the pain and swelling returned and didn't cease until two days after finishing the prescription. My doctor confirmed that I was not pregnant (Heather had done it's job). He decided to keep me on it another month to see if it was just a "bad lot". I'm now experiencing dry peeling skin on my nipples.. I assume from the sudden increasing and decreasing of my breasts this month. I'm not sure the negative side effects are out weighing the positive.Read More Read Less

I began taking this medication to reduce the number of migraines I get by reducing or stopping my menstrual cycle. It was effective at first, but after about 18 months, I had breakthrough bleeding, and the PMS to go with it. My doctor doubled the dose, and for another couple years it worked, until the breakthrough started again. Now I sometimes go a month or three without menstruating, and I sometimes menstruate every two weeks. I'm over fifty, so I assume it will end soon. That said, it really bugs me that they include all that extra crap with each month's supply of this, like it's a regular birth control pill, where you HAVE to know what day you're on. You take this continually, no breaks, no changes, so why bother with all the wasteful, environmentally unsound paraphernalia? If it's so I make sure not to skip a day, anyone old enough to have sex should be old enough to handle doing that without a little punchcard. I'm a grown-up.Read More Read Less

No mood swings, some spotting, weight loss (was the same with combination pill), blood pressure back to normal. Estrogen in the combination pill was elevating my blood pressure. That's why I switched to this pill.

Within 2 days of starting this, I had constant spotting to heavy bleeding, which has continued for 8 days straight. Mood swings, depression, hands and feet swelling, very negative and aggressive. Lower back pain and have had the jitters.

I was on this medicine in January but stopped taking it since I was TTC. I started taking the pill again today after I had received my period on 6/26/12. I noticed Im bleeding again. How long will it take the pill to stop the bleeding? Im beginning to wonder that this was a bad idea.
