I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I take birth control for a few reasons (#1 to lower my testosterone levels, #2 to have a monthly period since PCOS causes a lack of periods). Over the past 3 years I've been on 6 different birth control pills, and Generess Fe is the best pill I've been on hands down. Every female will react different to the hormones in every pill, so my review will ob...

Asked for an IUD, instead was given Generess Fe. Terrible mood swings, weight gain, nausea, and headaches. Felt like a monster 24/7 after very first dose, Stopped taking after the third day. Remind me again why is this allowed for human consumption?

I have been on this pill for 6 plus months and no period! I like that and its normal for that to happen. I have noticed my skin changing with some acne and my breasts have become bigger. Everybody is different with how they react to medications.

I have never contributed a review to any product online, but feel strongly to warn other women of these BC. I have had inconsistent and random bleeding for the 4 months I have been on this. I have never experienced this with any other pill. After reading all the reviews below, will call my dr. asap to switch as I realize now it is not just me. I also read another review that said it made her gain weight. I had the same issue. I gained weight in places I have NEVER gained weight, my legs and butt have gotten much bigger. I got on this pill after having a baby and my legs and butt did not change at all during that 9 months, but 4 months on this thing...ugh. Overall, very dissatisfied. Read More Read Less

Hi I'm 25 years old and slightly new to Generess Fe. This is the first birth control I had since the birth control patch I used 6 years ago. I hated the nausea, stomach aches, and that square ring that patch left on my skin.(I take showers 3 times a day and it took forever for that ring to go away...ughhh) Since then I stayed away from birth control because I didn't want to deal with the nausea and the weight gain. My fiance of 3yrs and I have practice safe sex without birth control, but it was time to get back on it. My gyno recommended Generess Fe. Just like most of the readers on here, I was very skeptical of a chewable birth control, but I was so wrong. I love it!!!Please know that not every product will work the same for everyone. Before this product I was very moody, my sex drive was extremely low and when I did have sex it was so painful(i loathed sex), vaginal dryness, and my cycles were irregular. After I took this, everything changed. My sex drive and cycles are back on track(Even better actually). I had no nausea or headaches. I had pimples(2-3) here and there, but nothing too major. Some Clearsil or Proactiv and I'm good to go. I like the fact it is chewable(I hate taking pills). I like the mint flavor and tastes like a little breath mint. My doctor was right, my hormones were imbalanced. I would recommend this product, but visit your gyno first. Keep doing your research and make the best decision for you. I hope this helps.Read More Read Less

I just started taking this birth control in what will be a month in like a week and Ive noticed that I've had cramping and spotting on the pill. At first it started out very light but now it has gotten darker and the cramps have gotten more intense.

This pill IS effective, because I've had sex and I'm baby free. It's easy to use because it's chewable and minty-flavored. Taking the first pack was easy, I even got a lighter period. During the second pack, I got my period only 15 days after my last period ended and I've been bleeding (sometimes light, sometimes heavy and full of clots) for 11 days! It's ridiculous. I'd rather use condoms than deal with this. I'm not taking this pill anymore, at all. I'm stopping today.

I've been on many other pills, and this one is BY FAR the absolute worst!!! I've been on this for about 3 months, and I can't even stand the idea of starting the 4th pack. I'm pretty easy-going and level-headed, but this pill makes me absolutely crazy, mean, paranoid, moody, and just miserable in every sense of the word. I don't think I'll be finishing the fourth pack - I'd rather be abstinent than deal with this garbage every day. Not to mention my boobs are fat now and I've got this sort of innertube looking thing around my stomach - that was NOT there 3 months ago, and I haven't changed a single thing about my diet/exercise. HATE THIS PILL!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I like this pill. I take it because I have very severe PMS. Before taking this pill I would cry for no reason and have mood swings and depression/anxiety a week before my period. I also had cysts in my breasts that would get tender before my period and when I would drink caffeine. The PMS got better right away and disappeared after 3 months. Also, I can no longer feel the cysts in my breasts. I also like the minty flavor it reminded me to take it.

I just started this birth control. I am on pill 25. I have never really had acne breakouts and have gotten the worst acne while taking this pill. I have also gained weight fast! I am asking my doctor to switch my birth control when I go back.

I am generally kind of bitchy, but I am a raging bitch on this pill. I also have no sex-drive. My chin looks like a family reunion of zits. I am getting my period for 7 full days when I shouldn't be getting it (in the middle of the pack). Asking my ob-gyn to change my prescription TODAY!

I have only been taking this pill for about 3 weeks now, so I can't really rate its effectiveness since my doctor told me it does not work for the first month. My body reacted harshly to this pill though. By the 2nd week I got my period, and I wasn't supposed to have gotten it naturally or on the pill yet. Not only that, it lasted much longer than it normally used to, and I had had remaining spotting or brownish discharge for another couple days after that. In total, it was like I had my period for 9 days. I also had bad cramps during that time, and have noticed a general change in mood for the worse. Additionally, I experienced a lot more fatigue than normal even though I was on vacation, so now I am weary of taking this pill while I am back to my normal hectic and demanding life. This is the first birth control pill I have ever taken, so that could be a factor, and maybe I didn't give it enough time for my "body to get used to" but based on my body's overall reaction thus far, I have decided to stop taking the pills. The first month I experienced nausea, headache and spotting. The second month, I experienced a little bit of acne, but it disappeared in the third month. My breast did become fuller. I had no or little period. I didn't get pregnant. My doctor told me to switch to a different BC pill since I was experiencing extreme breast tenderness.

I took this pill for two months and on the third month broke out all over my face and neck, so much so that my doctor prescribed antibiotics to treat. (I never had acne this bad as a teenager and I've been taking birth control for close to 10 years.) At the end of the last cycle (third month)I had some of the worst cramps I've had in a very long time and my period has lasted much longer than it has on any other birth control. I'll be glad to switch to a new birth control since I am not used to this dosage. However, if you are just starting out with birth control I would recommend a lower dosage (similar to this one) and see how it works for you before you get acclimated to high dosage.Read More Read Less

I have just finished a whole first month of this birth control and its the second oral pill i've ever tried. I tracked all my days and side effects the first week i started taking the birth control i was extremely hungry. I take the pill at 10am and by 4pm i was starving. By the third week i was adjusted and back to normal. I did have breast tenderness for a couple of days, no migraines, throwing up or nothing depressing. Since i did take the birth control early at night sometimes i do get emotional. I can cry for no reason, but other than that i've felt fine. I did have some brown period-like discharge mid third week. It stopped after four days. I probably wouldn't have gotten on this pill if i read the reviews before just because they are horrible! But the birth control hasn't made me feel that bad at all and my body is really sensitive to medications. I would rate it a 7 for just right now since i'm just a month in. I have had un protected sex and I'm not pregnant. So the pills do seem to be working. It does have a mint taste to the chewable pill. I do chew the pill but now the taste isn't as present in my mouth since i'm used to the mint. Every woman's body is going to react to the pills different so don't try fretting over all the negative ones. This pill is doing very well with me and i feel like myself :) Read More Read Less

I thought I was going crazy until I read this post. After 5 months of not feeling like myself, I finally decided to google the reviews vs. side effects of Generess and I felt like everyone was living the same nightmare as me. I was totally depressed almost to the point of lethargy. My anxiety was way above normal. I gained 10lbs and my breast were huge. Not to mention I was bleeding and clotting so heavy I was afraid to leave home. And the cramps were crippling. I also felt like I had more of a vaginal discharge in between periods. However, my periods and the spotting went on forever. I also have lack of vaginal lubrication and no sexual drive. I have stopped taking this pill and was wondering if anyone else could say how long it takes for the symptoms to disappear. Please post if you have any "post generess termination" information.Read More Read Less

I have been on a birth control now for over 25 years for PCO and Endometriosis. Every year, my OBGyn switches pills on me because of the side effects are unpleasant. (bloating, pain, nonexistent flow, mood swings of death) What pill should I go on? Should I just opt for the hysterectomy?

I was on this medication for 3 months and didn't have a great experience with this one. For the first two weeks i was extremely nauseous, once that died down my breasts were sore and grew from a small B to a full C, at that time my sex drive dramatically decreased and i became very moody which never really stopped. Also gained about 5lbs and the taste starts to wear on you. Starting a different BC at the end of this cycle and I am very relieved. I am giving it a two because it did prevent pregnancy and make my periods regular.Read More Read Less
