For me, Lory has been good and bad. I started it about a year ago and it worked fantastically for about 5 months. I had light flow during the inert pills, no irregular spotting, less acne, decent sex drive, and not even any weight gain. Unfortunately had to go off the pill for the next five months, and I started it again about three months ago. I realized that there would be an adjustment period again, but I did not experience anything like this the first time I was taking Lory. As other women have mentioned, I've had bleeding after sex- sometimes lasting for days. In addition to this bleeding, I have experienced heavy spotting three times in the past three months that lasts for a week or two, and this is on top of my normally scheduled period. In other words, I've been bleeding more often than not (~3 weeks out of the month). Also, horrible mood swings, depression, and uncomfortable (but not unbearable) cramping throughout the month, although I have not yet had any problems with weight gain. Not sure why it's so different for me the second time I've started, and I'll probably give it another couple of months to make sure- it really was good enough for the first 5 months that I will tolerate this incessant bleeding for a time.Read More Read Less

I use to take Gianvi, and what I can remember, I loved it. I am now taking lory a and after almost two years and reading all of these reviews I have realized I am not crazy! I have lost my sex drive, gained over 40 pounds in the past year and a half, and have crazy mood swings. I have never had such low self esteem. No matter what I do, I can't lose this weight and I've been blaming it on different things. Thank you all for your reviews and i am now going to switch bc because I haven't been healthy for two years. Read More Read Less

I had no idea that birth control could cause all of these issues! I have been on it for about 6 months and have zero sex drive. I thought it was me and my boyfriend has been blaming himself. I have gained 10 pounds since being on it and thought that it was just my fault. This is the first time I've ever been on the pill and the first time having sex. I have mild yeast infections right before my period each month. I'm so glad I found this website I was almost at the point of giving up.

Never, in my entire life, have I had acne as bad as I have now on Loryna. I had mild acne before I started but now it is severe. I've been taking it for three months now and it's steadily gotten bigger and worse and harder to treat. It's horrible. My OBGYN had to switch me to another pill just last week, but I still have to wait until the end of this packet and it SUCKS. Also, my hair started to fall out more. My hairdresser noticed my hair was breaking away extremely easily (which hasn't happened to me before Loryna), and told me that it's a sign of a hormonal imbalance. I thought that would go away after my body adjusted to the pill, but no! Don't go on this pill if you're looking for acne treatment. Read More Read Less

I am 21 years old and was switched to this pill by my insurance who could no longer cover Yaz. I have never had any problems with it. I get moody the week before my period but have always been like that. I never experience bleeding/spotting. I get mild cramps but only have my period for a few days. I do lack a libido though... and have major cravings. but was still able to lose 10 lbs while taking this (through exercise) i missed a few days and then had sex after but then did not get pregnant, so i guess it's working or i got luckyRead More Read Less

I'm surprised that this pill has been so horrible for some people. When I first used this pill, it worked great for me. The only side effect is that my breasts were a little sore. However, there was a mix up with my prescription so my next pack was Gianvi. That brand was horrible for me. I was moody all the time and I got so angry at little things. Finally my next pack I was able to switch back to loryna. It took a few months for my periods to get normal but I have had no side effects and it works great. I'm very happy with this birth control pill. Read More Read Less

I have been on Loryna for about 5 months now. It has been effective in the fact that I am not pregnant but the reason I switched to Loryna was so that it would help my acne. I would say that my acne is not any better than it was before I started birth control so I was not satisfied with that. Also, this BC made my periods start early and last longer than usual. If I had sex then I would start bleeding like I was on my period and it would last for several days. I have also experienced weight gain and had low confidence while in this drug. After reading other reviews I have decided to STOP with the BC all together so that I can be in control of my body again. I would not recommend this birth control. Read More Read Less

I switched to this pill because I could no longer afford Beyaz. I will not take it ever again. Before i toom this pill I weighed 135 pounds....not even two months later I now weigh 145 pounds and am bloated and constantly hungry and tired. I workout at least three times a week and I work at a gym. I am moody and the first month I wanted to cry about everything.not happy with this at all. As far as my period goes no issue there. ShShort and sweet, but i blow up like a balloon.

Like everyone I was on Gianvi and got switched to Loryna and it has taken me about 9 months to realize this thing has driven me crazy. I get mild yeast infections all the time, am overly aggressive, feel fatigued, have gained weight and blow up like a balloon from bloating before my period. Please stay away from this drug, it will drive you and everyone around you crazy.

Like most reviewers, my pharmacy switched me to Loryna. Loryna did great things for my skin, but I started bleeding profusely every time I had sex. I ultimately switched to Zarah, another generic yaz, and I haven't had any spotting/bleeding issues since.

I've been on Gianvi (the generic Yaz) for about 2 years now with no problems. This month the pharmacy gave me Loryna and told me that Gianvi wasn't available but Loryna was the same ingredients. So I compared packages and they are relatively the same. After 2 weeks of Loryna, I noticed my gut has been super temperamental!! I am so bloated all the time, gas pains build up and I can't relieve them! I noticed my mood swings go from laughing to crying to completely snapping at people in a matter of minutes and its not even PMS week. I haven't changed my diet or exercise routine, its the same as when I was on Gianvi. However, being on Loryna is hell! I just want to feel normal again and not like a bloated up balloon. At least I am not alone, other people are having the same issues. I want Gianvi back and I'm headed to the pharmacy today.Read More Read Less

Other than this pill being effective in preventing pregnancy everything else I suffered while taking it was awful. My insurance wouldn't cover Yaz (which I wanted to take to help with PMDD) so I took this pill for 9 months and by the end I literally was numb during sex and/or it was painful(this has never happened to me on any other pill, and before the pill my sex drive was uninhibited). I had zero sex drive and was depressed due to how the pill made me almost emotionless. I was also very hungry most of the time as a side effect and gained 20 lbs. I decided after MANY failed attempts at intimacy with my significant-other to stop taking Loryna and try to get back to a normal hormonal and mental state before trying a different pill. Within a week of being OFF of Loryna I was feeling so much better. I could feel turned on, I could enjoy stimulation and I was NO longer mellow to the point of zero emotions. I felt like ME again! If you are considering taking this pill as a generic to Yaz please reconsider. It nearly ruined my five year relationship because it changed my personality to the point of not recognizing myself anymore and was affecting my mental, physical and emotional health negatively. Also, this pill has some sort of inactive ingredient that can mess up your digestive system and bowels pretty badly. I have never had so much diarrhea and bloating as I had while taking this pill. Take at your own risk!Read More Read Less

I am 23 years old and avoiding taking the pill for so many years because I was terrified of gaining weight and the negative side effects. When I started struggling with hormonal acne that is very painful and embarrassing, I decided it was time. I only took loryna for a month and the first 3 weeks I was spotting/ bleeding and would get weird cramps around the time before I would be due for my pill (probably meant it would ware out). I experienced mood swings and depression and was more emotional. I didn't lose all Interest in sex but was less in the mood than I usually am. My boobs were also constantly swollen and sore and I am already a D cup. I also got these weird tiny bumps on my chest and my acne did not clear up but I was only taking it for a month. Bottom line this pill wasn't for me. Read More Read Less

I've been on Loryna for a couple of months now and I have both pros and cons about this pill. I have experienced some weight gain and bloating but my mentrual has subsided tremendously and my libido is way up there now.

I have been on Gianvi for a LONG time. Then when the pharmacy got a new generic I tried it for a month. The first week my face broke out and I got bad acne. Well bad acne for me that is. Then the last week I got severely depressed like suicidal. I knew and understood what I was feeling and knew that it wasn't normal. A couple of days before the pack was supposed to end I stopped taking the medication and I immediately felt better. Needless to say I have not gone back to loryna and will always ask for my pharmacy to fill gianvi for me. Read More Read Less

Like many, I was switched to Loryna by the pharmacy with no warning. I was on Gianvi for a few years and had NO problems or abnormal issues. Loryna has made me overly anxious, emotional, and unbelievably angry over the past 3 months. I cry in public and everything sends me into a blind rage. I get spotting in the middle of the month, my periods are a day later and spread into a few days after it should stop with. Cramps start a day or two before my periods over. MY breasts are tender for what seems like the whole month as well. My body has never been so off after using this and I absolutely will switch. Read More Read Less

Broke out in a severe case of hives after four days. I think it's the dyes. Peach is not a good color for me.

OKAY!!! When I read these reviews they were HORRIBLE and scared me half to death. I called and begged my gyno to switch he told me not to worry and to just try them. Let me say I'm glad I did. There are some side effects but the way people are talking about it is crazy to me. Its only my first month but I've experienced a couple different symptoms. My breast have been swollen and tender ALL MONTH. (I can live with it). My acne on my face cleared up. I do on occasion have cramps here and there. I have a cyst on one of my ovaries so I'm not sure if its my cyst that hurts or these pills that are making my stomach hurt sometimes. But to be honest with all of you I'm new to birth control and after reading all these horror stories. I'm telling you from someone who worries themselves to death. TRY IT OUT FOR YOURSELF BEFORE FREAKING OUT!!!!! It'll save you the heart attack and worry, if you don't like it just get it switched! But for me so far so good! Read More Read Less

I am a 37 y/o mother of two who has been on many different bc over the years. For me Loryna is the absolute worst. Initially there was spotting, ok, that happens when you change bc. Afterseveral months (4 I think)the spotting finally stopped, but now I get horrific abdominal pain, bloating and pressure like at the end of pregnancy when you are ready to pop, and yes my breasts have also gone up by two cup sizes. I have never in my life felt more uncomfortable in my own body than I have these last few months on Loryna. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences which have allowed me to realize I was not imagining these things. Yes, each person is different and every body will respond a little differently to a prescription medication; this one is just not for me.Read More Read Less

I have had such incredible results with my skin on Loryna that I absolutely had to share. I had very oily skin and was prone to serious hormonal breakouts, as well as had a lot of bumps under the skin that would never surface. I don't think I realized how horrible my face looked until it was completely FLAWLESS. Not a blemish in sight! After only a few weeks on it my skin looked worlds different. I have had no other side effects, no weight gain, nothing. 5 stars!!
