As long as its taken the same time EVERYDAY, this drug has stopped my period.. (takes up to 3 months sometimes for someones period to stop) after the 3-4months, my stage 3 endometriosis slowed down and gave me back a chance to live life without hemmoraging from periods, or the gigantic ovarian cysts I was getting. But if you miss a dose it feels like all hell. I reccomend setting an alarm on your ...

I began taking amethyst two months after i experienced a miscarriage. My periods without birth control are very painful and heavy. I stopped having monthly migraines around menstruation. No more clots the size of my hand. No more aching all day. Sex became a pleasure again. No pain afterwards.

Initially Amethyst made me a bit nauseous in the morning, but it was tolerable. I wanted to try it for at least three months to see how it adjusted with my body, since that's what was recommended. By month three I had became extremely anxious about school despite normally having a mellow demeanor with more stress. Social scuffs became way more emotional and I was more impatient with people. I decided to get off this pill and felt better. I had spotting once or twice throughout, but thankfully had a regular period two months later. I wouldn't want to deter other women from this since it may work with their body, it just wasn't a pleasant experience for me. Read More Read Less

I switched to this from Ortho tri Cyclen lo, because I was spotting every month from the second week of pills, and my periods were heavy and I cramped terribly. I started taking Amethyst, and am on my third month. I've had no breakthrough bleeding or spotting, even the one time I took my pill 12 hours late.

This works very well for pain from heavy periods, and I have not had any cysts since starting it, however, I have gained about 10 pounds since starting Amethyst. I didn't gain any weight while on Lybrel. I'm going to ask my doctor to switch me back.

When I first began taking Amethyst, I had a lot of nausea in the mornings, but that went away after two weeks. It works really well as long as I remember to take it regularly. It has drastically decreased my pains from endometriosis and all of my periods have been very light, and spread apart. I generally don't have a period at all as long as I take my pills.

I was taking Lybrel & started to take Amethyst a month ago. I was moody & emotional the first 2 weeks after switching. I am now 100% satisfied with Amethyst. Amethyst was recommended because of my severe iron deficiency. I have not gotten pregnant (knock on wood!) & I do not get an artificial period like other birth control pills give you.

The first week or so on this medication was difficult, but once I got settled into the routine and my body stablized, this drug has worked great for me. Periods were a major trigger for migraines, and usually brought on debilitating migraines. For as long as I've been on this medication, my migraines have lessened significantly in frequency and severity.

I began taking amethyst 4 months ago after a long history of very painful periods. My periods without birth control are very painful and heavy. About 3 months into taking the pill, i had some brown spotting followed by period like bleeding. Its been 22 days now I am still on my period. I have been talking to my doctor & she finally told me to go back to my seasonale. Another advice never forget to take a pill. Your period comes on the very next day. I hope this can help someone.

The 2nd month, I had a crazy-heavy period. Then it turned into spotting/light periods for 3-5 months until it dwindled to just cramping and now after 6+ months I finally have nothing. I went on it to control my mood swings and my too frequent periods. But now I have NO emotions as opposed to too many and too dramatic emotions. And I have zero sex drive. I don't want to go off of it though because I love not having a period. If you don't want to have a period, it is great, if you can wait for it to fully take effect. And it did alleviate my depression, but it also alleviated every other emotion too.Read More Read Less

My doctor told me that this oral contraceptive would prevent me from having a period. I have taken this pill on time for almost three months now. The side effects are AWFUL!!! The first month I had a two week long period, the second month it was longer and more painful than the first. My hormones were haywire and my sex drive almost completely disappeared. I highly dislike this pill and wouldn't recommend for anyone.

Tenderness of breast, bloated, severe cramps and mood swings. This generic for Lybrel does not compare at all. I have been taking Lybrel for 5 years and never did I experience any of these symptons.
