I started taking this pill in the beginning of March and my period lasted for 13 days! But after my body got used to it, my period now lasts 3 days. My acne is become more controlled. It was once kind of bad now it's a lot better. I've gained about 20 lbs since I've been taking it. My mood in the beginning was horrible. I was so depressed and moody. Everyone noticed a change in me. But after my bo...

I was put on Gianvi 3 years ago to take with Accutane and continued to take it after the Accutane treatment concluded 6-7 months later. I never had issues and was switched this last month to Vestura. It is NOTHING like Gianvi. I have gained weight where I haven't gained in 2 years, my mood levels are everywhere, and I am constantly tired & lethargic when I am not normally that way.

When I first began this treatment I did break out pretty bad but it cleared up within the first 3 weeks. The ance was not the issue, but it made me a CRAZY person. I would cry and had suicidal thoughts at least 3 times a week. I am a pretty stable and responsible person but I was making my loved ones around me really uncomfortable because I went from a happy personality to emotional and depressed. I had to discontinue using after 2 months because I just could not stand the suicidal thoughts and being depressed. The pill itself did what it needed to do but at the well-being of my health and happiness I had to stop using it. Read More Read Less

I've been taking Vestura for about six months now and I've actually lost about 20lbs. My periods are very light and only last two days at max... sometimes its only one day. The only issues I've had were migraines & vomiting (reason for majority of weight loss), and also dehydration. So drink your water ladies and hydrate your skin or else you will turn into flakes. Ive seen a huge curve in my appetite, and for a girl who was already average weight, I'm really surprised I've lost the weight I haveRead More Read Less

I had been on Yaz for years until my insurance company refused to pay for the name brand. My pharmacy changed me to Loryna and I had changes. I decided to go through mail order to save a few dollars, and they sent me Vestura. Within the first 2 days I noticed violent panic attacks and mood swings. I contacted my PDOC and she told me to get off of it right away. I went back on the Loryna and have had no problems since.

I had been on Yaz for years until my insurance company decided that they would no longer pay for the Name brand, I switched to Loryna with now side effects. I decided to try mail order because it was cheaper. They sent me Vestura, I started it 4 days ago and I'm those 4 days I have had horrible panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, and terrible diarrhea. Don't ever believe the pharmacy when they say that that generic are the same as name brand. I was lucky enough to figure this out on my own, and am lucky to still be alive. Read More Read Less

My GYN prescribed Vestura for me to help ease my menstrual cramps along with other symptoms I was having. I took these pills for three weeks and could not stand the severe headaches, nausea and diarrhea. My skin was much better but I would much rather deal with the cramps than the list of other symptoms. I could not function with the headaches. As SOON as I d/c taking the Vestura, the headaches, diarrhea and nausea went away almost immediately.

So, most of y'all will probably state that I haven't taken this birth control for a long period of time so my body isn't used to it, well I've been on it for almost three months and I will have to say it is a good pill to be on I was on the depo provera and that messed my body up my hormones up I blead non-stop for 2-3 months it was horrible. I lost 40 pounds while being on this medication I'm a overweight teen so that's good for me, I do get nauseous from time to time and my appetite increased I eat a lot, I know it's funny how I will eat a lot but I'll lose weight. But recently my depression had worsened and I cry about little things, my boyfriend will raise his voice and I'll bawl for almost an hour. It's crazy, and my sex d I've is high I know I'm probably going to get hate for that because I'm a teenager but I really don't care. Other than all the off the wall off topic stuff I wrote about this pill is a very good and effective birth control.Read More Read Less

First off, any reviews on a birth control that have not been used for over 3 months don't have the necessary information to conclude whether or not it works. There are many side effects with any birth control within the first few months. Once your body adjusts then consumers can rate their satisfaction. I was using Vestura for 6 months and the only downside i found was that i got severe migraines. Vestura uses Drospirenone which is a diuretic causing you to become dehydrated quicker. I believe this is what caused my migrainess since I wasn't drinking enough water. Periods were normal with little cramping. I have since tried other kinds but am going back to try this one again. Just remember to DRINK LOTS OF WATER.Read More Read Less

I have been on this birth control for six months. Made my acne worse, then better, then worse. I have always been a happy person and naturally had a high metabolism because I worked out a lot and stick to a strict diet (due to my gluten, wheat, and yeast allergy). I gained about fifteen pounds, became very depressed and unmotivated, and very emotional and angry at everyone, all the time. I finally stopped taking it for the sake of mental sanity and feeling like myself again and am so happy. My skin actually isn't freaking out and I'm energetic and joyful again. Not worth it, I'm glad I stopped. I also have ovarian cysts and I believe the pill helped make it less painful. Didn't like how short my periods were though. Felt unnatural and weird to have a two day period that was very heavy, compared to a 3-4 day period that slowly decreases in flow. Read More Read Less

I decided to write a review since I saw so many negative ones regarding Vestura. I started taking this about 2 years ago since my insurance, Cigna, started charging me almost 100$ for the previous pill I was taking. I am 30 years old and overall, my cramps used to be terrible when not on the pill and they are now moderate to almost none on a monthly basis. Also, I usually have many days of heavy period and on this pill I have a lighter period for fewer days. In terms of mood, I don't recall any drastic changes but I didn't really take note in the beginning. My sex drive is pretty good and I don't consider chaining it for now. Read More Read Less

I am a 22 year old and I have been taking this since I was 17. I was initially prescribed this because the I gun thought I might have PCOS. I had no cysts when they performed and ultra-sound but I had really strong mood swings, acne around my jaw and forehead, bumpy, oily skin, anemia from heavy periods and built muscle very easily, which are all characteristics of PCOS. So I took it. My skin is less greasy. My face is more feminized. I grow muscle less easily which is a down side for me but my acne is little to none except for around my period when I get a few break outs. I did gain weight but I don't think it was due to the the Ventura/Gianni/Yasmin (it's all the same, just different names) because I have been able to lose 40lbs on it as well. I went up to 180 at one point due to poor diet and excercise. I also feel like my boobs have definitely grown more than they would have otherwise but that is just speculation. The one thing it didn't really help was the heaviness of my periods. They are still relatively heavy but I must admit not as heavy or as long as they used to be. They also are not as irregular. I used to get my period sometimes for as long as 14 days. But now it's a pretty regular 3-5 days. Just be careful if you skip the placebos and go straight to the next pack to skip your period because this pill thickens (not thins) the lining of your uterus. When I chose to do this my periods after are noticeable longer and heavier.Read More Read Less

I started taking Vestura because Walgreens stopped carrying Gianvi which I was on for years without any problems. I quickly developed hormonal acne which I've never had before. I experienced exhaustion, vaginal pain, joint pain, bloating, weight gain and muscle weakness. My mood was terrible. I exercised frequently with no improvement. I had strange abdominal pain that made me think I had a hernia. I went back on Gianvi. Two weeks in and it's like a switch flipped. All my symptoms are gone.

I took vestura for about a year or so. At first I loved it, my acne was gone within a month. I have never been a moody or depressed person at all in my life within a few months after taking vestura my mood was out of control. I hated who I was becoming and my friends and family saw a huge change in me as well. I finally stopped taking it and still having issues with my moods. Only positive thing I got from this medication was no acne and menstrual periods they were absent for 10 years.

So I am 23 and this is my first time using the pill form of BC. Before, I had the Implanon in my arm for 3 years and the Mirena IUD for another 3 (from which I gained 30 lbs...but that's another story). I've also suffered from moderate acne since I was young so I asked my doctor for Yaz. The pharmacy ended up giving me Vestura (which I was a little upset about because of the reviews) but it's actually been really great. Before I started taking it I had a horrible breakout... 3 days after starting Vestura my skin cleared up immaculately. Now, I am on my second month and my skin is not "perfect" but my acne is very much under control. I still breakout around my period but A LOT less. As far as my moods, I'm a pretty moody person already so that hasn't changed much...but for all the stress I'm currently under I've surprisingly kept my composure very well. Also, I have lost almost 15 pounds...but I think that is from the removal of the Mirena. My appetite has decreased, though...and my sex drive is absolutely great. Also keep in mind that I did give my body a break from BC for a couple months after I removed the Mirena. That COULD be one reason why it's not effecting me as negatively as others. Worst birth control ever . Gained weight and had headaches literally everyday. I was super emotional and felt like a crazy person even my boyfriend could sense a change in my mood. It caused extreme nausea for me everyday and that's without doubling up. Couldn't handle the nausea or feeling like a crazy person and got off .

This is my first experience with birth control. I am on the second week of my second pack. During the first pack I bled for an entire month! I finally stopped but now I am starting to feel some anxiety, mood swings, and some depression. It has changed my outlook on life. My family and boyfriend have commented on how I don't seem like myself. I don't think I've gained weight and my acne is starting to really improve! (There was an initial breakout due to this pill though) This pill doesn't seem to be too bad but I'm wondering if the depression and lack of motivation will go away? Read More Read Less

My pharmacy switched from Gianvi to vestura out of the blue. Spotting the first month ( gained 4 pounds with no changes in diet or exercise)... Second month was a nightmare!!!!!! Gained 8 pounds by the second month, again, no changes in diet or exercise. I had my period early and has now lasted 2 weeks and horrible cramping. I went to my gyno and she tried switching me back to gianvi but ins didn't carry this brand anymore so they switched to NIKKI the new brand. Pharmacist at Florida healthcare stated this week alone about 10 girls have come to the pharmacy complaining and demanding a switch to another BC! My gyno also put me back on metformin due to weight gain and PCOS with insulin resistance to get my weight back down from 120 to 110 again. Then I will go back off of metformin. But this is the worst bc experience EVER! Read More Read Less

I can't believe how terrible all of the reviews are for this BC. I took Vestura for over a year and LOVED it. I suffered from terrible break outs before taking Vestura but after the first month on this BC my face cleared up and was the clearest that it has EVER been! As expected, I broke out when I first started the pack but after 3-4 weeks my body adjusted and my face was unbelievably clear. I didn't gain any weight nor did I experience any other side effects. I do experience some break through bleeding from time to time but that it well worth it to me. Read More Read Less
