I started taking this pill in the beginning of March and my period lasted for 13 days! But after my body got used to it, my period now lasts 3 days. My acne is become more controlled. It was once kind of bad now it's a lot better. I've gained about 20 lbs since I've been taking it. My mood in the beginning was horrible. I was so depressed and moody. Everyone noticed a change in me. But after my bo...

I've been on gianvi for six months and when I got my script from walgreens this month (2 weeks ago) they have me vestura. ... since taking it I've kept these crazy breakouts and I've never ever had acne like my entire life. .I just talked to Wal-Mart pharmacy abd they said they both have same active ingredient but it may be the in active ingredient causing this. . It's embarrassing and they should...

I have used Yaz for years without any problems, but I HATE Vestura. I feel constantly depressed--even though mentally I don't have any reason to--even to the point of suicidal thoughts. I hate sex and I am tired all of the time. I feel like a crazy person on this pill and struggle hard to manage my emotions--and it really just feels like it's my body and not my mind. I've gained weight, my appetite is out of control, I've had unusual bleeding (two periods per month), cramps, and probably even the headaches everyone else talks about. Read More Read Less

During my last yearly exam I asked my physician to prescribe me a different birth control as I was not happy with the effect my old birth control had on my skin. I've always dealth with pretty severe hormonal acne and thought maybe a new form of birth control could help. Vestura has made my skin 10 times worse; it's so embarrassing! I've only been on it for 2 months so I'm hoping my body is just getting used to the hormonal change, but man, my skin has not been this bad since high school. On top of that, I've had pretty frequent spotting since I started using it. Like I mentioned above, I'm sure most of these things are due to my body getting used to the hormonal changes (I was on my old birth control for quite some time, almost 5 years) but these are issues I'm too impatient to "wait out".Read More Read Less

This medication has been exceptional for balancing hormonal swings, reducing periods and minimizing the symptoms of my endometriosis.

Made my PMDD so much worse! I have been crying uncontrollably at night with thoughts of suicide. It's made my depression worse. Headaches occur two hours after taking the pill and last for an hour. Really low sex drive. I broke out in acne all over my face, upper and lower back, and chest. My breasts remained the same. On the bright side, I lost weight even though my appetite increased.

I was switched to Vestura several months ago when my previous birth control got to be too expensive. (I'm uninsured) It was okay for a while as I recall, but my periods have been getting worse and worse these past few months. I went from having bad back pain during my period prior to taking Vestura to now severe back pain, general cramping as well as horrible cramping and sharp pain my my pelvic area, aches and pains throughout my legs and other random parts of my body, headaches regularly, frequent migraines, extreme exhaustion, etc. I can't say too much on the depression/anxiety aspect, because I've suffered with both long before I began taking any birth control, though I will say this doesn't seem to exasperate it as much as say Lo Loestrin Fe, which I have been on in the past and absolutely despised. I'm sure it does make things worse for me to a degree though honestly. Overall, judging by these past few months or so, this was a terrible pill for me.Read More Read Less

For one, my boyfriend, family and friends have officially considered me "bad-shit crazy". This is what bothers me the most about this BC. I snap out of nowhere, I break down in tears for now apparent reason and I can't control any of my emotions... I act crazy and I know I act crazy but there's nothing I can do about it. I don't recognize myself anymore. I have no drive or motivation to work out when I used to workout 5-6 days a week. Went to my doc today and gained 6 pounds ever since switching to vestura. I don't know what to do or which BC to switch to. I'm also always breaking out when I take VERY good care of my skin, it's crazy. Not to mention the migraines! I've never had migraines in my entire life until I got on this stupid pill.. Intense, speech impairment, blinding migraines. And I've had break through bleeding for the past 4-5 months. I bleed for a week after every time I have intercourse. If I could go back in time and RUN from this BC, I would. It has affected my grades, lifestyle, relationships (I lost all my friends, including a friend I've had since kindergarten), stability, and emotions. Whatever you do, do NOT take this pill.. It's affected me so much. It is perhaps the worst decision you can make. Read More Read Less

I was switched to Vestura in December 2013 or so. I have experienced cramping, spotting, mood swings, severe depression and weight gain. I have always been around 145 to 150lbs range now I am 170lbs! being only 5' 4' tall this has been horrific. Not sure if it is the weight gain or this drug but my sex drive is gone. Thought I was going crazy and thought my body was going through changes due to turning 32 this year.... Now I see after reading these reviews that I need to stop using Vestura immediately for my sanity.Read More Read Less

I have been on this birthcontrol for a little over a month. When I first started the pill after a few days I noticed mood swings, all I wanted to do was cry. I would flip from mad to sad in the blink of an eye. I constantly wanted to eat & eat. In the 3rd week of the 1st month I started spotting, continued to spot until I started the 1st pill of the 2nd month & that exact day I started a heavy bleeding. Im not on the 3rd week of my 2nd month & I am still bleeding. It stopped 2 days ago & was a light colored discharge & the next day I was back like I started an entire new period. I called the Dr. today & have an appt in 2 days. I have to get away from this medicine. I would NOT recommend anyone to take this medication. Read More Read Less

I'm 33 with a 6 year old daughter...Walgreens switched me from Gianvi to Vestura in late dec 2013. I gained about 8 lbs within 2 months. I thought it was because my metabolism was slowing down (I turned 33 in March 2014) so I went to a weight loss clinic. I was about 130 (5'3") prior to the switch of brands. By May 2014 I was 147 lbs. I've been on prescription appetite suppressants, watching my diet VERY closely & working out regularly. Went in today for a weight follow up today (6/19/14) and weighed 160!! I've been on a 1000 to 1400 calorie a day diet since Feb! Just realized today the only change was my BC manufacturer this year. Calling my gyn first thing tomorrow to get away from Vestura!!!! Fingers crossed that switching BC method will help with my weight. I haven't been this heavy since I was pregnant! Makes me so frustrated & want to cry!Read More Read Less

Over the course of 5 years, I've tried a range of different birth control pills including Ortho Tri-Cyclen & Loestrin. The former caused me to gain over 10lbs in water weight. The latter I took only briefly due to the intense emotional havoc it wreaked on my psyche 2 summers ago. I've taken Gianvi since (WONDERFUL!!!!), but was switched to Vestura when Walgreens lost their contract with Gianvi makers. Oh. My. Gosh. A week from finishing the first pack, I have logged my daily mood swings for fear I was developing Bipolar disorder. I have become angry, snappy, overly-sensitive, bloated, horribly sad and unhappy. I must FORCE myself out of bed & fight away depressive thoughts when I usually jump to the kitchen for breakfast & to begin my morning run. I LOATHE my boyfriend of 3 years. I have zero sex drive/attraction towards him (poor guy). I broke down in a hysterical crying tantrum last night. The funniest thing, though, (if you can call it funny), is that I KNOW I'm acting crazy. I KNOW it's the Vestura. And yet, I cannot control these outrageous mood attacks! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, for the sake of your sanity & the loved ones around you, take this drug. Read More Read Less

Like others I was given Vestura in place of my usual pill, Gianvi, which I had been doing well on. The only good thing about Vestura is the fact that is prevents pregnancy...otherwise it's been a nightmare. Light bleeding every single day, depression, feeling tired every day, weight gain and bloating--and I am very active and healthy and otherwise living a wonderful life. Don't take it if you can help it!

First of all I did not switch from a different birth control; I began Vestura after never being on an oral contraceptive. I'm taking it for acne and other hormonal issues. I'm through my first month and have noticed no major differences, broke out in week 2 which I anticipate with anything effecting my hormones. I have had some serious mood swings but nothing too extreme, again knowing it's just the hormones and how this stuff goes makes it a lot less stressful. I'll review again after 3-4 months, the standard time to really see changes. Side note, I have lost 4 lbs...not that I've lost my appetite I just seem to be eating normal vs. the binging I would typically do.Read More Read Less

The first couple months I took this I hated it; I had horrible cramps, crying for no reason. starting the second month I had my period for the whole month very bad and horrible pain. The doctor kept saying that it will go away and it will become normal. I started to not believe her and want to just stop taking it but the reasoning of taking it I kept with it. I now love it. My period is so light and no cramps. The crying and everything got better. I would recommend it to anyone. It just takes time for your body to get used to it. Read More Read Less

I can't believe I took this horrible medication for seven months!!! I actually almost started crying reading these reviews because I realized that this pill is what is ruining my life. I went on birth control to ease the debilitating cramps I had during my period and also to help acne. Vestura was great for both of those. But it made me completely crazy. I used to be a really easygoing, emotionally stable person. On this pill, I was ridiculously moody, angry, and very depressed. And I cannot even begin to describe the emotional toll this has taken on me, my family and my friends. Like other reviewers, I started off on Giannvi and was switched to this. I didn't think it would matter and I honestly didn't even think to look up the reviews. I just assumed that they would be the same. At the time, I attributed my craziness to the fact that my life had changed drastically and that I must be having a hard time dealing with it. I had just graduated college and that I didn't like my job, was living at home, didn't know what to do with my life, etc. For some reason, I didn't think that the pill could be making things a lot worse than they normally would have been. I just stopped taking it so I'm hoping I'll start to feel like my old self again. Some of these reviewers love this pill, but it absolutely was not for me. If anyone wants to try it, just be warned that if you start having intense mood swings, STOP TAKING IT! You deserve a better life than that. Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for a week. I feel terrible, this medication has be bloated, extreme abdominal pain. I feel as if I want to throw up all day long. I was on the generic Loryna and Walgreens didn't carry it so I was given Vestura. I noticed I'm emotional and a little more depressed this week.

This medication is effective for preventing pregnancy, however, HORRIBLE for everything else. My breasts hurt SO bad ALL of the time that I live in a bra 24/7, showering without one hurts like hell. I can't even sleep on my side because of the pain. I even thought I had a mass and went for an inconclusive breast ultrasound. I've had awful headaches/migraines, bad cramping beginning a week PRIOR to starting my period that last throughout cycle. I've had dizziness, my stomach is always a wreck and I've been BEYOND depressed and exhausted ALL THE TIME regardless of how many hours I slept! I'm still on the searh for the best BC alleviating cramps for endometriosis patients. I've had surgery to cauterize growths/cysts every year for the past 9 years. I'm thinking it's time to go back on Seasonal and just acccept the break through bleeding that occurs throughout the 3 month cycle. At least I felt SANE on it... I HIGHLY advise AGAINST Vestura. I feel a lawsuit coming on for this medication, stay tuned.Read More Read Less

I have been on Vestura for about a month but I have been at the lowest low that I can remember. Serious depression/suicicdal thoughts, anxiety and shortness with my patient and caring boyfriend. I've turned into a different person, I cannot take another day on it. I originally started it as a means of family planning, but my derm also recommended YAZ for my skin and this is the generic my pharmacy gave me. Yesterday will be the last day I take it. Crying for no reason, I went from a very happy confident person to completely insecure and unstable. Horrific drug. Read More Read Less

I was on Gianvi for 2 years and had no problems at all. Walgreens stopped carrying Gianvi a couple of months ago and switched me to Vestura. Wow I have gone crazy since switching. Extreme depression, anxiety and panic attacks (especially the week before my period)! I have never suffered from anything like that before and it was life changing. I feel completely out of control of my emoitions. Also the vestura pills taste nasty, I noticed an awful taste in my mouth before I swallow it. I called my doctor today and shes going to send in my prescription request to a different pharmacy that carries Gianvi. I cant wait to get off this stuff and back to the old one. I researched online, and generic yaz has similar hormone ingredients but is allowed to have different ingredients for "fillers", so it must be that. Read More Read Less

I had resisted discontinuing brand name Yaz for years, but in the last few months felt forced to due to increasing cost of non generic medications related to my insurance plan. The first week and a half on Vestura were fine... I didn't notice anything significantly different. During the second and third week I had some break through bleeding and mild cramping. Definitely not typical for me, or something that ever occurred while taking Yaz. My period began midway through the third week, and the cramps have been unbearable. Almost constant, and over the counter pain medication does not do anything to alleviate the pain. I am going to switch back to Yaz, and pay the extra $42 per month for it. It is worth the cost to not feel sick throughout the month!Read More Read Less
