I am 38 diagnosed with RA when I was 28. I have 2 fake knees and a fake left hip. I've taken Prednisone, Enbrel, Remicade, Humeria, and I'm currently taking MTX and Xeljanz. Sorry for any wrong spelling. The Xeljanz really does help manage the pain and leave only minimal swelling in a couple joints in my hands and wrists. My problem like others have mentioned is significant weight gain. It bother...

I am here to tell people that in my opinion Xeljanz was the contributing factor in my wife's death after taking the drug for about three months. I believe the drug compromised her immune system which blocked the ability for her body to fight off Encephalitis. Encephalitis is VERY rare. Xeljanz did reduce the swelling in her hands but she paid the supreme price for it. My wife had RA for about thir...

This medication has done nothing for me except cause me pain I had severe back pain, severe stomach issues, chills, sweating, difficulty in breathing, dizzieness, rapid weight gain, could not do anything for myself without exhaustion, tingling of hand and feet, trouble sleeping that got so bad that I was awake almost round the clock with 5 min. Cat naps now and then, my legs were restless to the point that no matter where I sat I was miserable I would have to lay down, my skin would itch like a misquote bite with very little relief.my muscles and joints ached worst every day. I was unstable walking it was all I could do to move I had become so weak. I was using a walker to balance me so I could get from one point to the other. I have made a decision to not take it and see if that would make a difference and stopped for only 2 days and notice a great deal of difference in all the complaints I have. I have talk to my Dr. of this my intention is not to go back on it. But I have learned never say never.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Xeljanz for 7 weeks and my condition and pain got worse. I used to be OK when I slept at night, now it's only pain and a horrible pain in my leg that prevent me from sleeping. I can only start to sleep in the early morning, it's when the pain stops. Today I will ask my rheumatologist to stop it and I am sorry I waited so long. did not work for me at all. I am wondering now if taking no medicine at all is not better since the pain is there with medicine also.

Marginally effective. Less inflammation in my hands, but I have experienced more frequent and severe major flares than on Remicade. AND it elevated my cholesterol and produced weight gain. AND once on Medicare, it is unaffordable. I'm going back to Remicade

Shortly after I took this medication (and nothing else) for Rheumatoid Arthritis, I began experiencing difficulty breathing and had to be rushed to the emergency room. Speaking with my doctor after a blood workup, my doctor told me it was most likely this medication caused my adverse reaction. He took me off the medication immediately. I won't be taking it ever again.

I have had to go on and off and on and off and I am again back on Xeljanz XR in a off label dosing schedule. I am taking it every other day per my rheumatologist recommendation. I have had multiple respiratory infections, but success with my Arthritis. So we are trying to keep my immune system high enough to fight the respiratory infections but not so high it triggers my Arthritis.

Six days after beginning Xeljanz, I awoke during the night with complete sinus blockage - as in zero airflow through the passages. I have facial numbness from forehead to chin, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness. All of this continues though I stopped the med 2 weeks ago. I am on prednisone to help calm the reaction, and it is doing very little. I called the company to report the reaction and they steered me to the "medical help" line rather than the specific option to report a reaction.

this has been great for me. I am paired with MTX and doing well. Humira, luflunimide and MTX, alone, did not work. My only complaint is the weight gain. I've gained 14lbs since taking this med. I've always had trouble with my weight so this has been really annoying and frustrating.

I am very happy. For 3 weeks I have been taking this drug. I never read anything about it or talked with anyone but my doctor the day he prescribed it. I am just starting to notice things all positive for now. I don't need as many pain pills. I can walk a bit better. My hands are doing well, and my aches and pains in other areas calming down! My sleep is the same I take ambien. I feel that I am gaining weight, but if I can function it is worth it! It is so far so good. My husband [and caregiver] is very happy! I hope this is my helper after 20 some odd years!!! Read More Read Less

I gave Xeljanz 5 stars for effectiveness because it worked within 2 weeks for my rheumatoid arthritis. I gave 1 star for satisfaction because I had to stop taking it because of side effects. Worst was complete insomnia and depression/panic attacks. The depression came on so hard and out of nowhere. Just couldn't continue like that.

I believe the drug compromised her immune system which blocked the ability for her body to fight off Encephalitis. Encephalitis is VERY rare. Xeljanz did reduce the swelling in her hands but she paid the supreme price for it. My wife had RA for about thirty years and like many here tried about every drug over the years. She had one knee replaced and she was do to have the other replaced just days before she was hospitalized. She had a full exam and tests to be approved for the operation only maybe two weeks before she got sick. Two months in the hospital and thirteen days on a respirator. I don't mean to frighten anyone but make sure you read and understand the warnings about this drug.Read More Read Less

I have RA and advanced osteoarthritis resulting from chronic lyme disease. When I first started xeljanz it was amazing. My joint swelling and pain was better than ever, but that has faded, leaving me with flares almost back to square one. I have also gained a good bit of weight, which is making me incredibly unhappy and self conscious. If anything I'm eating less and far more healthy than ever, but I cannot keep the weight off. It's very frustrating.

I did not get any relief from any previous medications including Enbril and Methotrexate. Xeljanz has been wonderful for me. I found relief after the first week.

I've been on Xeljanz for 9 months. It was highly effective at the twice-daily 5mg dosing, but it wrecked my stomach. So I quickly switched to once-daily dosing. Stomach issues gone but I still gained 12 lbs (from an original weight of 113 lbs) and lost quite a bit of hair. The moderate improvement is better than none at all, but recently my blood cell counts fell somewhat. So the future is a question mark.

I was diagnosed in 2008 and I've been on Prednisone,Methotrexate,Leflunomide, Plaquenil,Enbrel, Humira, Orencia and have been on Xeljanz since Feb. of 2015. I feel that it's working fairly well, but have gain so much weight like others. Am exhausted most all the time and depressed more with it too. I don't know how much more of this I have to take. I'm feeling as good as I ever have since being diagnosed, it's just the side effects.

I am a 52 year old female... I have been on Xeljanz for the last six months... at first it was great for me then all of a sudden it stopped working. I take it along with the plaquenil and lodine for pain but I am more swollen and sore on a daily basis.. than I ever was on Enbral it's a shame that stopped working for me..

Sorry for any wrong spelling. The Xeljanz really does help manage the pain and leave only minimal swelling in a couple joints in my hands and wrists. My problem like others have mentioned is significant weight gain. It bothers me that the RA doctors don't have much of a concern for other side effects. They only worry about what they are treating leaving you to run to other doctors to fix every the the medicine is screwing up. There is a total disconnect with treatment for the RA disease, doctors, and when to seek surgical treatment. I also find with the Xeljanzs fatigue and mental cloudiness. I've been taking Xeljanzs for approx. a year and found it to help with joint pain after only a couple months. I am also worried about the possibility of diabeties setting in. Over all with the side effects its hard to know what to do. The bottom line is I feel like I will die young and really there isn't much that can be done. Finding a good RA doctor in central Ohio has proven to be difficult. Please pray for a cure for this terrible disease. May God help us all. Read More Read Less
