I am a retired RN. I have a high heart rate in 140's and high blood pressure. We always gave Coreg if heart rate was high when blood pressure was extremely low as Coreg lowers heart rate first allowing more time for blood to fill chambers of the heart and thereby raising blood pressure due to more blood being moved through the body. You must eat a 4oz meal or food before taking Coreg or your blood...

One week into coreg(generic)12.5 so tired I am moving in slow motion. Mouth is blistered, burned swollen. Head hurts. Pupils so dilated I can barely see. No control over bladder. Terribly sore all over.Want to crawl in hole and stay there. 2(?) daily plus lisinopril. More side effects. Miserable

After MI july1998, 4 bi-pass lower left ventrical was blocked 90%+, heart output was 15%. After regiment of coreg, by dec1998 output was 38%. I'm approaching 15 years survival with minimal angina! Now at age 70, I'm stage 5 esrd but no dialysis as today, and in aug 2013 1of 4 bypass occluded, since then no angina. I was able to enjoy 3 beautiful grand daughters all under 11 years old, My loving wife, son & daughter-in-law, & 16 years retirement. I've been blessed!

My elderly mother was given this drug to replace her Diltiazem. She was having occasional chest pains. She sleeps all the time, gets dizzy, her bp drops, she vomits. They finally discovered it was this drug causing all these problems. She is 88 years old with no heart failure or high bp.

After taking coreg for almost a year (along with lisinopril) for cardiomyopathy, I developed atrial fibrilation. The cardiologist decided to increase and then double my dosage. As soon as the dosage was doubled, I began to have muscle/joint pain all over the body. Both the cardiologist and his nurse practitioner DENIED that pain was related to coreg. After reducing it myself, pain subsided; then after increasing it again, pain returned. Currently, on the reduced dosage, I am having extreme pain in both of my wrists with swelling in the morning. I am trying to convince medical professionals to reduce it again or preferable to change this medication to another one. Good Luck to me!!!! Read More Read Less

Treated for cardiomyopathy and after ten years of taking this med my condition improved to a minimal loss of ejection fraction. I believe I am alive today because of this drug.

The first two weeks, my BP would spike over 200 a couple of times/wk. Then, either the fact I cut my sodium intake in half, or the drug, brought my BP down and it's stayed there. Jittery in mornings, pains behind knees, and the low heartbeat makes me feel odd...I split the dose, 12.5 in am, half that in evening, because pulse gets too low overnight.

Started at 6.25 Coreg, upped it every week till I reached 50 MG 2 times a day. Have rashes in various locations, wheezing, Leg Cramps and dizziness. PA tells me that Coreg, can't be causing the dizziness, the problem is more likely a tumor in the cerebellum - not

I have been taking the generic coreg for about a year and a half. I was ok on the lowest dose but was tired. when i went up in my dosage I started to notice some sever effects. It started with extreme light sensitivity, sometime resulting in severe migraines behind my eyes. That does not happen very often any more. I feel now tired a lot and my body feels very lethargic. It is a chore just to get up and just walk across the street. I sometimes have difficulty taking deep breaths. A few months after I started taking coreg, my blood pressure dropped dangerously low and had to be rushed to the doctor. My dosage was way to high and they had to bring it down. Since the reduction in my meds my blood pressure is back up and so is my heart rate. When I have forgotten to take it, I usually feel pretty good. Read More Read Less

Until the medicine builds up in your system, use caution when standing up from a seated or reclining position. Severe dizziness will occur if I stood up quickly after reclining or from a seated position. The good side is that it reduced my pulse rate to an acceptable level following bypass(5)surgery.

In my opinion, this drug could be classed as a miracal drug. The changes in my condition were dramatic.
