WORST birth control I've ever been on! I've taken about every OCP on the market for years and this one by far is the worst! Horrible acne and dry skin, moodiness, no sex drive, and I am so fatigued!

As a form of birth control, it is effective. However, I couldn't stand the side effects. I started taking it a month before I got married, and it killed my libido. I would constantly be spotting 2 out of the 3 months with cramping (who wants to take ibuprofen every day, anyone?), and during the last week, my period would be HORRENDOUSLY heavy (I bled through a tampon, a pad, and my underwear and p...

I've had great sucess on this pill. No periods just a little spotting. At first I experienced a little bit of a queasy stomach but that went away.

This birth control really helpedal my pmdd. I've been on it a month now and this month my moods stayed the same I wasn't yelling at my family. Where the week before my period I'm usually a basket case. The only thing I noticed is I had spotting one day since I forgot to take 1 pill. On my old birth control I could miss one and have no spotinG.

I was prescribed this bc to decrease my periods and prevent growth of endometrial tissue. I get my period about 3 weeks into the pack and have it for 6 weeks at a time. I gained 15 lbs and noticed decreased energy and bad mood swings. Also, noticed a depression increase.

I've been taking Quartette for 6 months. The first 3-month cycle was hard to get through- I started spotting two weeks in and continued spotting or bleeding lightly for the next 10 weeks. When my period came after three months, it wasn't bad. None of the pain or cramping that led me to start taking this in the first place. The second cycle was much better. I didn't start spotting until a week before my period. Again, period was light and easy. If you're not sexually active and are taking this for period problems like me, I'd recommend sticking it out through the second cycle to see if the breakthrough bleeding eases up for you too.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication after having an ovary removed due to cysts. During the surgery, my doctor discovered I was a "mess of endometriosis". This likely explained the very heavy, painful periods I've had all my life, leading to struggles with anemia and difficulty conceiving. After giving birth to my daughter, my periods were no longer as painful but still very heavy. Since I wasn't planning to try to conceive again, my doctor and I decided Quartette would be a good way to control my endometriosis and heavy periods. After reading the drug insert about possibility of breakthrough bleeding, especially the first 91 day cycle, I was very nervous. However, I've been pleasantly surprised that I had only minimal spotting a few days here and there. The only other side effects I have noticed was a weird taste in my mouth for the first few weeks. I don't know if it was related to the meds or not. During the yellow week, my periods are as heavy as ever, but I only have to have them four times a year, so I can handle it. I'm on my third pack, and I haven't got pregnant, so I guess it's effective. Overall, I've been very happy with what this drug has done for me. Read More Read Less

I talked to my gyn about this birth control because I only wanted to have a period every 3 months. I am sad to say that it seems like I have been having a period everyday since I've started! The side effects: breakthrough bleeding and stomach cramps, I cannot take. I am switching to a normal BC

I have enjoyed taking this medicine. It has lessened my acne and has been a miracle for curing my moodiness. Periods only once every three months. This stuff is great.

If you want to have constant PMS symptoms and get your period every day, instead of 4 times a year, this is the pill for you!!! It worked, when taken the correct way birth control is supposed to work, and if you're used to taking a daily pill this should be easy to use. However, the side effects are not to be taken lightly! -I've been bleeding every day for 6 weeks now. Some might say that is not a horrible thing, except that it happens when it wants, and wearing a pad or tampon every day for 6 weeks gets to be a little uncomfortable, not to mention an expensive habit. It's not light spotting either. -I've had horrible mood swings. I feel like a hormonal teenager all over again! It's like I'm PMSing all of the time. -And of course there is crazy bloating. So much so that it's noticeable by others. One day my skinny jeans will fit the next I want to wear my maternity jeans I'm so round in the middle. -Absolutely zero sex drive ZERO. I don't need birth control if I'm not having sex. -Cramping and back pain, like it's the first day of your period a few times a week. The doctor said that I should give it the whole 3 months, but nothing has gotten better-only worse, I will not be refilling the prescription. Read More Read Less

I have light break through bleeding (like dark spotting you might have on the last day of your period) for 4-6 weeks at the beginning of each 3 month cycle. The benefits: mood improvement, nice skin, libido.

While taking this pill, it has decreased the heaviness of my periods and has been fairly easy to use. The first time I took it was horrible simply because my body was adjusting. Now I am on the 2nd refill and it is great. I have no pain and sex is still enjoyable. It works for me!

While I feel confident this birth control is effective, I can't handle the side effects. I am only in my third week but have bled everyday for 21 days - every day being heavier than a normal cycle. I have mild-moderate stomach cramps daily. I have not gained weight but was swollen during my first week. I am miserable but may try to stick it out since I'm already 3 weeks in.

This birth control has terrible side effects. It made sex painful, made me extremely drowsy and tired all of the time, and drastically increased my appetite. It also caused a lot of spotting. Use a different pill.

I agree with the other reviewer. Severe moodiness and irritability. With the BC pill there is no sex drive - at all. The thought of sex doesn't even enter your brain - ever. This does leave time to get more work accomplished but does hinder any intimate relationships that you may have. While this pill is effective at minimizing my pain and extremely heavy bleeding it was not worth the daily excessive moodiness and irritability that I experience. I will be ending my use of this BC pill.

I started taking this BC nearly a year ago, and I really like it. It has helped with my cystic acne (mostly during the first month, but seems to come back during the second & third). I've always had trouble finding BC's that work for 3 months with no break-through bleeding, this is not one of them. I start to see breakthrough bleeding towards the end of month two and throughout month three. It has eased a little over the year but not dissipated. For the most part, aside from the break through bleeding (im use to it ) I do like it, it seems to work better than any other three month cycle pill I've taken. Hope this helps. Read More Read Less
