The experience I have had with taking this drug has given me back parts of my life that I thought were lost forever. I am able to do the simple things with ease such as getting out of bed. In taking Remicade I feel like my life has been given back to me again.

I have not started treatment yet, but I had to answer the questions to get my concerns posted. SORRY! I cheated. I have read the reviews on the Web MD site associated with psoriatic arthritis and to be honest it is a little frightening. I am scheduled to begin treatment on remicade Aug. 6th. The 6 reviews I read commented that they were in more pain and the psoriasis was much worse after tre...

Symptoms were cut in half within 24 hours of first infusion and gone within 48 hours. I am in complete remission and have been more than 6 years.

My dad had his third treatment, it has not helped him at ALL. He is bleeding more, and continues to go to the bathroom, frequently. His quality of life is "0". He feels trapped in his own body, always tired/weak and refuses to eat (rapid weight loss). He only leaves the house for Drs. appt. Now he is having stomach pain. It's so stressful on him and my mom. Not sure what next!?

I am now 19 years old and been suffering hard since I was 17. I have to say I have one more treatment before I move on to another drug. That is if Remicade don't treat me properly, I have had 4. I have severe ankylosing spondylitis. Pretty much everything in my body has been destroyed. Its started with a headache that wouldn't go away- then straight to hell on earth. I had to figure it all out on my own, I guess with the help of my pain dr. Destroyed TMJ, spine(neck-all the way) ulcer, Joints. Wisdom- Do not let this go. Be persistent. Ignore the ignorance and embrace the loyal and compassionate Drs.Read More Read Less

Remicade Treatment every 8 weeks. (I really need it every 6 weeks, can't get anyone to change it) As the medication is infusing I have severe muscle pain.. bad enough to need pain med for. Then I feel terrible for about 5 days AND THEN I am like a new person. WOW a miracle. I get 4 very good weeks out of a treatment, then the Crohn's begins to raise its ugly head. I am concerned because I have not read of or heard of anyone else with this reaction.

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and have tried Humira and Symponi. Both of those treatments were great at first but then petered out after two or three months. My biggest problems with AS is unbelievable fatigue and the intense pain in my lower back and pelvis. Remicade is by far the best medicine so far. I get 400mg every 6 weeks by infusion and along with a low starch diet it has helped me tremendously. The fatigue is 75% better and the pain is gone. I recommend keeping your diet low in starch and omitting all bread, pasta, and baked goods from your diet at all times. Potatoes can be bad, as well, but sometimes I cheat.:) Ask for this medicine-it works!!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Non_Hodgkins Lymphoma (cancer) during my treatment for RA. After 2.5 yrs and chemotherapy the cancer is benign and RA is benign as well. I suspect that Remicade had something to do with the cancer.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's at the age of 3 and at the age of 12 I developed a fistula and proceeded through 9 surgeries to remove it. After, to help maintain remission, my doctor put me on remicade IV infusions. I am now 19 years old and have not had any major flare ups or complications. Remicade has provided me a life that I no longer have to worry about Crohn's disease or any of it's symptoms. Sure you still have a stomach ache hear or there, most likely due to an overly greasy meal or sometimes stress can cause it. But I can't be happier with my overall experience with Remicade infusions. The whole process sometimes can be a hassle, but that also depends on where you receive the treatment. I would recommend this treatment to any patient diagnosed with Crohn's. I am currently a very healthy 6'0 180 pound athlete attending college after 4 years of Varsity high school sports, which came as a surprise due to the fact that Doctors informed me malabsorption of nutrients was a possible side effect of Crohn's. It has helped me live a completely normal life without any qualms or hesitations. Good luck to you all Read More Read Less

One week of sea sickness after treatment. Then again it could be the stress in conjunction with my ischemic stroke. It has been good that I am able to continue neuro therapy without the need to wear diapers. Last year prior to the Remicade I caught a cold and went into a coma for 2 days waking up in my bed soiled with blood and feces. I also lost control of my bowls and urine. Thank GOD for Remicade as it has helped me tear up my death certificate that was issued last Year and make me more confident to resume my constant mental and physical rehab.Read More Read Less

Was on Humira for 3 years...it saved my life ...loved it. At age 66, no more medical insurance because of retirement...had to switch to Remicade to get Medicare and supplemental insurance to pay for it. Hate the 2 and 1/2 hours sitting at the doctors for an infusion. Felt better on Humira. Definitely Humira is the better of the Biologics. Didn't mind injecting with the pen but 2-3 hours of infusion is agony for me!

Thanks to everyone who takes time to share their knowledge and experience with this drug. I am treated for psoriatic arthritis. It does help. But in response to comment on 8/2/2013, I too have noticed memory loss. However, in my case its seems related to statins. I've ceased taking them, and have tried several, including a natural form. These treated cholesterol and were effective except it is my opinion that the statins caused word recall problems. I don't think it is remicade. I've stayed with remicade for ~5 yrs.Read More Read Less

Have been on this drug now for 7 months. Was on Humira till co-pay got so high that I wouldn't pay for it! Humira was a faboulous drug for me and was working fantastic but not going to use up all my retirement giving it to a pharmacy company & insurance company. Asked doctor what we could do and she suggested Remicade Infusion which is picked up 100% by Medicare because it has to be done in a hospital! I'll play their game if they want to play that way! Anyhow, after 7 months Remicade is doing a 90% fine job. Joints are holding in there unless I over do but after a few days rest they simmer back down. I am going to talk with doctor on next visit as we have gone up to 8 weeks between treatment and after 6 weeks I pay the price. Joints hurt and finger joints swell and painful to bend. All other joints seem to be holding in there, only hands and wrist hurt big time. Psoriasis is not getting any worse so that is good! Do wish they made it as easy as taking Humira was but I'll lay in hospital for 2¾ hours to get it covered! If we increase dosage time I think Remicade will do well by me but time will tell. Good luck to everyone fighting this nasty disease and stay tough!!!Read More Read Less

I was very nervous to begin being treated with Remicade, especially after reading about potential side effects, etc. I'm not a person who wants to take drugs, although I've been on other medication for Crohn's in the past, and had an emergency resection in late 2011. All was well after the surgery for about 6 months and then I started to feel sick again with severe diarhea, fatigue, and just a feeling of unwellness every day. It got worse and worse, so finally agreed to try the Remicade. My first infusion was 11 days ago and today I want to cry with happiness. I feel normal again! It's working! My second infusion is in 3 days and I hope it will continue to work for me for many, many years. No side effects or reactions so far. Fingers crossed! I feel I have my life back.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with UC almost 6 years ago. Started out with predinosone and asocal. The asocal did nothing, and the dr. put me on remicade next within 4 months of diagnosis. It has been great for my UC symptoms, and made life bearable. About 2 years ago I got an anal abscess. I went to a rectal surgeon, and he tried to perform surgery (fistulatomy) 2 separate times. He wasn't able to complete the procedure either time due to not being able to find the actual fistula. He said that remicade should help reduce the chances of a recurrence, but I have probably had 10 abscesses since the initial one, and all in the same place. I talked to my gastro dr. and is now recommending that I take 6-MP in addition to the remicade. The remicade has been great to this point, but I am worried that it will stop being effective as a long term treatment option.Read More Read Less

At my 4th infusion my BP spiked & I was given benadryl. At my 5th infusion seconds after it started my BP went to 220, I had chest pains, couldn't breathe & started vomiting. I was given a steroid shot by the doctor & then given Benadryl by the paramedics. I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance & stayed 3 days in the cardiac unit. Multiple visits to the cardiologist after that to ensure I didn't have heart damage. This drug did absolutely nothing for my RA symptoms but it did try to kill me.Read More Read Less

On for about three years after no treatment for five, the difference is astounding. I sort of think of it as a miracle drug. Not only has my Crohn's gone from out of control into remission but it has had the convenient effect of also treating my arthritis and several skin problems I have. It's important you pay care, though. I made the mistake of going for one infusion while I wasn't feeling entirely well and ended up hospitalized the next day. I try to be extra careful with washing my hands and being aware of people around me for the days before and after infusion time. Sick niece and nephew are not allowed near me. I also recently had a false alarm of potential allergic reaction and only got a small portion of my treatment. Within a couple weeks I went entirely out of remission on everything that it was taking care of. It was a very very big eye-opener. I remember the pain from Crohn's very clearly but I have no idea how I handled it before. It's no wonder I was getting nowhere in life if I had been living with pain like that, compared to how Remicade makes me feel. Just had another dose today so it will take care of it in a day or two, thankfully. Have had some issues with family over it. It scares them a lot. I'm happy with it though and they got used to it as they realized how much better it made me. (Other issues it happens to also seem to help for me: Eczema, boils on chest, arthritis in hands and knees)Read More Read Less
