I was prescribed this by my Pain Management Doctor due to severe opioid induced constipation. I am 6'3" 245 lbs and this one little pill I felt in twenty minutes. After another 20 minutes I felt massive cramping and barely made it to the bathroom. I have never had anything work that fast ever! I did break out in cold sweats and felf very tired after my bowels were cleared. I would hate to think wh...

PEOPLE! PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS DRUG BEFORE YOU INGEST IT. WE ARE ON OPIATE MEDICATIONS, WHICH ARE AGONISTS. WHEN YOU TAKE ANYTHING THAT IS A ANTAGONIST, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY THROW YOU INTO PRECIPITATED WITHDRAWALS WHICH ARE EVEN 10X WORSE THAN NORMAL WITHDRAWAL. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD THEY MAKE THIS? PLEASE, DON'T TAKE THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE. THIS IS SOME CRUEL JOKE OF A MED. THER...

I am on suboxone so it may be a little different for me. I have taken this medication late in the evening on and off for weeks and not much BM. But I started taking for the last 4days in an row and wow what a difference. It helped me a ton and almost seems like I had a colonic at home. Works for me. Crampin was heavy at 1st but it works and I'm so grateful! Tried everything including colonics and this is much easier and can do it at home!

Movantik has been great the past couple of days. It takes a week to get over the initial cramping, and the first day of omg out of the way of the bathroom. I recommend taking it after you get home for the day until the initial cramping wears off. Taking it first thing in the morning could be dangerous until cramping period wears off in a week. Driving while your intestines are in knots could cause a car wreck.

I was so disturbed and scared by the comments that it almost stopped me from trying this drug. This medication is working for me, although it is not perfect. I do have at least 4-5 bowel movements per week. This is much more better than it was in years past. I lost 10lbs the first 2 weeks because I was no longer carrying around weeks worth of waste. I did have mild side affects (a little mild cramping, sweaty for the first hour but these went away after 3 doses) the first couple of days. I would rather have a few mild side effects than waste sitting inside of me. I also changed my diet to mostly low fat organic, drink 10 glasses of water a day (the fluid keeps the intestines moving) and started walking in my treadmill, needing pain management our bodies have different needs. Don't let the bad reviews stop you, this is a safe medicine. I think our minds make things worse when we see negative reviews. Just take it AS PRESCRIBED on an empty stomach. I had a bowel movement within an hour. I now take it once a week and have 1-2 bowel movements regularly. Don't expect a magic cure, light exercise and water does wonders with this medication and chronic pain. Read More Read Less

This is rough stuff not for faint hearted. It works great, in finally relieving constipation. However, expect 45min-1hr of cramps and pooping. So bring a magazine, phone or something to bathroom cause your not going anywhere for an hour or so. But it's does work when nothing else did.

OMG!! What a horror story!! I would have been better off calling the Roto Rooter Man than taking this drug! Heavy cramping, withdrawal, nausea, the whole gambit of opiate withdrawal symptoms after going to the bathroom. I'd rather be constipated!! I am 3 days out from my last dose and I am still sick from the effects of Movantik. I am reporting this drain cleaner to the FDA!

Within 15 minutes I had stuff coming out of me from both ends. So I guess it work, buts... After a couple of hours vomiting, diarrhea-ing, severe abdominal and back pain, violently shaking, sweating and freezing, I called am ambulance. Severe instant withdrawal. I've never been so sick. At the hospital, along with rehydration, they treated me with more opiates.

After a couple of years taking various and increasing doses of different opiates, I was pooping intermittently, but began having intestinal troubles. My doc gave me two sample packs and directed me to take one each morning for six days. The first morning, an hour after taking, stomach cramps and nausea began. It got worse for another couple of hours, then steadied. The day was a waste due to the discomfort. After calling my doc, she suggested taking the next dose before bed so that I could sleep through the discomfort. The next morning I woke feeling better, and had a very soft BM. There was only a little cramping. On the third dose, there was almost no cramping, and the following morning had a fairly regular BM. By the fourth dose, there was no discomfort. My BMs seemed back to normal. I have been through the six prescribed doses for several days, and my system seems back to normal. Read More Read Less

It definitely worked first time I used it, however it caused horrid stomach cramps. I got a couple of sample packs. I have been on pain meds for years and never had an issue until I got pneumonia and it took 2 rounds of antibiotics to get over it and I have been stopped up ever since 2 months. Normally a high fiber diet with plenty of nuts and 2 Activia a day worked. Years this worked. I won't pay $300 for them that is for sure.

This drug worked great for me when the doctor gave me samples. Then I went to fill the prescription, over $300.00 for 30 pills is crazy. I can't believe that a pill to help you go to the bathroom cost $30 each. I decided to fill it because it worked. Now not so much. it's still a struggle and I'm paying $30 a day to go every 3rd or 4th day. Need to find something better. Any advise out there?

My privious review was cut off, had to go to a different IP address to submit again. Day 1 had a twisting feeling in my stomach, went a little bit. Day 2 slight nausia, twisting feeling in stomach. Went a little bit. Day 3 all hell broke loose. Within 20 minutes my stomach felt twisted & painful, my skin went white & cold to the touch yet I was sweating terribly. Diarrhea strarted, then about 30 minutes later started vomiting. I couldn't leave the bathroom for nearly 7 hours. It was hell. Eventually BM turned to clear water-like & I had no control. It would just come out. Dry heaves came later since there was nothing left in my system. Finally I went to lay down & fell asleep for 16 hours straight. Day 4 not taking pill anymore but still really out of it & don't dare to eat or drink anything. I read some of the reviews on here before I started the meds & thought I would take my chances. But believe me... don,t try it .. it's not worth the gamble. I would rather die than go through that again :( Read More Read Less

The first day I took this within a few hours I had complete relief and went multiple times. However I have taken this medication now for a full month, it was works less and less. Last week I stopped taking it for a day and used laxatives to try to get relief. This medication is just not doing what it should. The only thing this medication does is give me gas.

I want to update this in a few days. i have taken Movantik twice and had not had any BM yet. Today is Fri and my last BM was Mon. I needed to go and could not wait so i used my standard bucket enema and had great success emptying out probably entire large intestine. after putting in at least 3.5 quarts of water with 4TBL seasalt, 2TBL baking soda and 2teasp Epsom salts - i had the large intestine empty for a period of about 1.5 hrs. i have not had any BMs since for 6 hrs. i wonder if Movantik had little to no effect this time for me since my first two doses encountered a quite filled large intestine. i will take my third dose around 6am on an empty stomach then wait one hour and eat a light breakfast. i would like to update this after 3 to 5 more days of dosages. my update post if allowed will ID me as VINCE in San Antonio TX. 20 minutes after taking 1-25mg Movantik, I experienced SEVERE abdominal cramps for 2-3 hours. My first bm was within 2 hours and had 5 total that day and have had an average of 3-4 every day for the next 5 days without any additional dosing. My opioid meds seem to have lost some of their potiency. (1)- 20 mg Oxicodone which normally would have a 2-3 hour effectiveness for pain relief has had 45 minutes to an hour. My injury is permanent nerve damage in my right foot. I have experienced anxiety, withdrawal systems such as muscle type contractions. Movantik worked as described but trade-off for pain med effectiveness wasn't expected.Read More Read Less

I Have only taken this DRUG 3-4 TIMES within the past 3-4 months and each and every time I became VIOLENTLY ILL. This drug gave me HORRIBLE STOMACH PAINS WITH VOMITING AND DIARRHEA at the same time. I THREW UP so much that I had THE DRY HEAVES. The diarrhea was so bad that I soiled everything from my bed to my bathroom. And the stomach pain was excruciating. The only reason why I tried it those 3 times was because my doctor's assistant suggested that I keep trying it. I WILL NEVER TAKE THIS AGAIN. I WOULD NOT GIVE THIS TO MY WORSE ENEMY. This stuff causes severe stomach pain with gas, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating etc. Why would they make a medicine like this?Read More Read Less
