I would be out of breath taking the garbage cans to the curb and walking back into the house at times the last few years, I had become very stagnant. Since starting Entresto on Jan 4th in lieu of Lisinopril I am out 5 days a week walking my sister's dog for 45 minutes, I feel like a new man. I have zero side effects and am highly recommending this drug to anyone with CHF...

I am 57 year old male. Cardiomiopathy in 2008 second pacemaker 4 years ago. Had a refraction of 10% 4 years ago now up to 28% . Cardiologist took me off lisenopril and lowered my water pills in 1/2 and started me on this new drug. HORRIBLE RESULTS can't catch my breath, tired, to much fluid on my lungs, blood pressure went from 120 over 80 to a steady 102 over 65 for last two months. Have been feeling like I'm going to black out daily. Finally did two days ago on my way to rest room. Check in to this drug like I did. Clinical study was never finished and two Cardiologist that are back it are having their own personal research funded by same pharmaceutical company that makes Entresto. Going back on old meds I actually was feeling better than I have in 10 years. Also of coarse to expensive. Thank you Read More Read Less

Husband took it due to CHF and his blood pressure went down to 60 and was put in ICU for a few days. His potassium level went up to 7. He only took it for 6 weeks, didn't get a good result on this med. New cardiologist put him on Metolazone to removed excess fluid and it worked great! No more fluid on the lungs, no swelling and he felt much better!

I'm surprised at the neg reviews. Have been on Entresto since it became available. Being on the verge of a heart transplant, it is the only med that has made a difference. Increased by EF from 10 to 20. I'm able to function. Does have a few side effects. Some fatique and swollen feeling in throat. Worth it! This is my miracle drug.

1. Difficulty breathing and choking on food due to throat swelling, severe dizziness (nearly fainting). 2. Tingling in fingers during exercise (walking). 3. Severe fatigue, sleeping 16 to 20 hours a day. 4. Severely enlarged left atrium of the heart, and reduced left ventricle ejection fraction from 30-35% to 20-25% as shown from echocardiograms conducted December 2015, and June 2016. THIS MEDICINE MADE MY CONDITION WORSE AND MY HAVE CAUSED PERMANENT IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGES!!!

To the person who posted " I have noticed tightness in the throat now. I am noticing a tickle in the throat, now. I am noticing a cough, dry and wet. I am noticing hoarsness in the throat ..." I am a pharmacist and would urge you to see your doctor to rule out angioedema which is a serious but potentially life threatening condition that can cause swelling of the throat, hands, face...etc. As an aside, I am also taking Entreso for heart failure that developed after my pregnancy. I've only been on it for 3 weeks now. I will have to report back on how it works for me. Read More Read Less

I wrote earlier asking for more comments. I heavily rely on patient comments and not doctor comments. I am still on the 24-26 dose. (7-8 months now). I have noticed tightness in the throat now. I am noticing a tickle in the throat, now. I am noticing a cough, dry and wet. I am noticing hoarsness in the throat and noticing difficulty in swallowing pills and difficulty talking. I am not sure if others are experiencing similar. I am also wondering if these troubled symptoms are from Entresto or do I have a thyroid problem or worse yet, cancer of the throat. I am very concerned. I will add that when I was first in heart failure my Ejection Fraction was 45-49%. They did another Echo in summer, 2014 and the EF was 22. Doctor placed me on spiractolone (sp) tirated from 25mg up to 75mg every day for 4 months. Cardiac MRI was done in late 2015. EF went up to 35-39. Saw HF doctor. Started Entresto, January 2016. Echo done in April 2016. EF is 40.4. August I will have another Echo to check Ejection Fraction. I am trying so hard to get Ejection Fraction up to 45-49 and staying there. I just do not know if I will be able to stay on Estresto IF indeed it is the cause of my throat problems. I will need thyroid testing, see an ENT doctor and go from there. Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication for one month and have no idea as to its effectiveness. I was taken of Lasix and Losartan due to total lack of action. Chronic edema with slightly low blood pressure after 13 year survival of 100% occlusion of LAD and have been on 27 meds to maintain cardiac function but have begun having severe difficulties. Cardiologist placed me on this in an effort to improve my cardiac function, but advises me that it may not work, but we have tried every other possibility so it is the last ditch effort. Only side effects have been significantly worse edema, with lower extremities breaking open and blood pressure is significantly lower. Doubt that I will continue this med due to cost, lack of improvement, and worsening edema. Will add more info after another month to see what happens Read More Read Less

i recently started this med and wish there were more comments. Patient comments have helped me tremendously on other heart meds. I will check back in hopes I see more comments and can add one, also. At this writing I do not know if it is working for me. I am under the care of a Heart Failure doctor and an Interventionalist and in Cardiac Rehab, 3 x a week and walking a mile, 2 x a week. I am trying.

When I take this medication, I experience a little muscle weakness for 1 hour. I also feel a little strange in the head (like being a little foggy) for about 1 hour. Just beginning to feel some shortness of breath after being on this for 3 months. This is one of the allergic reactions listed for the medication. Will consult with my doctor about this.
