I take Rexulti and Viibryd only, after 6mo of 7 diff meds. For months and months I googled symptoms of my mental illness (after a severe psychotic break and 8 hospitalizations) and could rarely find any thing good to read. Only the bad. I have been doing AMAZING (with normal ups and downs) for a year now! I am writing a review because I want people to have hope. I almost wasn’t going to because on...

Horrible. My doctor put me on a trial .5 dose. For the first few days I felt energetic and calm -- like my feelings of dread and anxiety were going down. Then I started feeling flu-like symptoms and I just assumed I had caught a cold. The "cold" progressed for but also brought with it severe panic attacks. The Rexulti was the only new drug in my system, so I determined it to be the culprit. After ...

I have been doing AMAZING (with normal ups and downs) for a year now! I am writing a review because I want people to have hope. I almost wasn’t going to because once people are feeling better they rarely write reviews. Usually people more want to write or complain about negative stuff. Rexulti has literally SAVED MY LIFE!!! It took my out of a YEAR straight of suicidal depression/severe anxiety in less than a week. No pill is going to 100% fix you (you need therapy, lifestyle change etc) but I can’t explain how amazing this drug has been to my life. I am so grateful to come across my psychiatrist who does genetic testing, and has prescribed me this drug. Everyone’s chemistry is different. It took me a year of wanting to kill myself every day to becoming stable. Please hang in there, I promise you there is hope, even if Rexulti is not for you. I hope that my post can help someone. Don’t give up and don’t let your illness take your life!!!Read More Read Less

Second update - Rexulti was initially great for me at .5mgs, but slowly inching up to 3mgs, the drug made me incredibly restless and anxious. I didn’t take it at all today and I feel better. Sigh, back to the drawing board.

Having been on many MDD meds over the years, none of which worked very well, I have to say this one is working. Almost immediately I began to feel human again and not like a slug. I have motivation again! I still have suicidal thoughts but nothing like before. Now I am back to doing things I enjoy. Before I didn't want to do anything. A little concerned about possible weight gain, but I will deal with that if it happens. I have been on this med for a couple months and it has helped me so much. I hope it works for you too.Read More Read Less

After trying almost every antidepressant available and still having suicidal thoughts almost daily my psychiatric NP prescribed this as an adjunct with Effexor. I have been on the medication for 6 weeks now and have started to feel motivated and doing projects I haven't been able to get started with. I still have occasional suicidal thoughts. The one effect that has amazed me the most was pain relief in my joints. My pain in my hip and knees was 6-8/10 almost daily. I had a hip replacement 6 months ago and from my level of knee pain I was thinking a knee replacement would be needed to relieve my pain. My pain level is 0 most days and occasionally a 1-2/10 on pain scale. I am not taking any pain medication that I can attribute this to. Previously I knew my level of pain was contributing to the depression as I am used to being a physically active person. This pain relief effect has been a miracle for me.Read More Read Less

Update: I had initially said in a prior review that just one .5mg dose made me feel less depressed and it's still doing wonders for me. Here's the biggest news of all: NO MORE RESTLESS LEGS!!!!! OMG, I have suffered from RLS since I was 10 years old (we're talking 1973) and this stuff just made it disappear! I am so so grateful. Nothing, but nothing else ever worked for my RLS - supplements, massage, hot baths, sleeping pills, nada. This proves to me that RLS is a result of some kind of disruption in the brain processing dopamine because that's precisely what Rexulti works on. I have heard that Rexulti can GIVE some people RLS symptoms. Maybe if you already have RLS then Rexulti will cure it? Don't know. I just know it's working for me and I could be happier!!!!!Read More Read Less

I just took my first 0.5mg dose and already feel so much less depressed and more hopeful. This was prescribed as an adjunct to Effexor XR (already on a very high dose of that). Fingers crossed that the good effect continues.

Completely turned my life around in short order. Fortunately prescribed by a psychiatrist (.5 mg dose). I have used Lexapro for ages, but Rexulti made it effective again. Highly recommended.

I didn't think I would be able to write a review so soon! I've only been taking this medication for 4 days. 1 mg, will up my dose to 2 mg in two days. I already feel better! I am experiencing motivation again! Wow. I expect it to continue and improve along the way! Yahoo! If it for some reason goes down hill, I'll review again! I've tried other medicine's for my depression and bipolar, with hardly any results, sometimes none at all. This medicine is a miracle! I do take clonazepam 1 mg for anxiety, the rest of my medicine is for other ailments. Happy happy joy joy! I hope it works for u!Read More Read Less

Suffering from depression and extreme anxiety. My regimen includes Zoloft, klonopin, restoril, trimipramine & Seroquel. My MD switched me from Seroquel to rexulti. Started off at .5mg, raised to 1mg after 10 days, and to 2mg after an additional 3 weeks. I seemed to be doing a little better, getting out more frequently. Went to my primary care MD who did bloodwork. My liver enzymes (AST & ALT) were elevated. MD thought it was related to Rexulti and suggested that I reduce dose back to 1mg, but liver enzymes were still elevated. Both MD's suggested that I stop Rexulti and two weeks later my liver enzymes were back to normal. Disappointed because I think it may have been helping me but too dangerous to continue.Read More Read Less

I have been on 2mg of Rexulti for less than 6 months. I have schizophrenia and I don't recommend it unless you like being fat and very sleepy. I have gained almost 10 pounds and I don't think I even eat too much. I feel like taking a nap almost a soon as I get up. Yes it is that bad. It makes me feel like a lazy slob. The only benefit is I am not crazy!

I have been on this med for about three weeks now - trying to come off of Abilify. I've not slept more than six hours in eight years while being on Abilify- so it was time for a change, plus I am unable to process emotions with it an the Paxil. I have noticed that I am able to emote now - which feels much healthier - and I seem to have a better sense of motivation. The problem that I am having is I cannot sleep. I've had about 10 hours sleep in the last 4 days. However, I do NOT feel sleepy at all, which concerns me. I'm not as compulsive as I was, and feel more in control on this med. I was spending money like there was no tomorrow. I've gained a little bit of weight, some may just be the holidays. I'd like to sleep - but I do overall like the mood enhancement. I believe if I watch what I eat - and the hunger levels, I'll be okay. Read More Read Less

I've had MDD for 35 years, been on pretty much every medication out there. For the past few years I have been taking 30 mg Prozac and 10 mg Adderall, supplemented by 2 mg of Xanax as needed, and although the MDD was still there, it was manageable. My psych tried me on Latuda, but the side effects were awful (extremely agitated and irritable). Seven months ago she suggested Rexulti, and it was like a miracle. I started out with 1 mg, titrating to 2 mg, and I finally found out what it was like to feel "normal." No anxiety, more energy, definitely more motivation. It was amazing. Unfortunately, after about 5 months the weight gain began. I went to a 1200 calorie diet and still gained 12 lbs. Then the anxiety began creeping in again, to the point that it became worse than before Rexulti, worse than in years. No motivation, just want to escape by sleeping. Think it must be the Rexulti not working any more, just wondered if this has happened to anyone else, where it worked great for a while then stopped. I have an appt next week, probably get off of it then.Read More Read Less

on 200 mg of zoloft, which helped with the anxiety but i still had feelings of depression. i added this and after 3 days the cloud of sadness lifted. this is a miracle drug for my depression - until i took this i didn't realize how depressed i was. it's nice to enjoy life again. managing depression isn't just about medication but this helped with the medication component for me. i do have to be mindful of the hunger, i find myself wanting to eat more. i exercise 3-4x a week so i manage any weight gain. discipline in this area is a must when taking this wonder pill. taking 2mg and happy as a clam. I started this medication because of weight gain due to Abilify. I did not gain any weight and have been fortunate enough to lose a minimal amount. I feel good about my health, mentally and physically.

I started taking this as an add on medication along with Fetzima which was working very well for me, but I still wasn't completely myself. I took Rexulti for a total of 3 months and gained 30 pounds!!! I am a female age 39 - Definitely not for me!

Not for me. Been on this almost 2 months and I'm ready to get off of them. Two biggest side effects I have had are confusion and thoughts of suicide. Only positive with this drug is my mood swings have diminished.

I have tried everything to deal with my depression which is caused by MS. My doctor prescribed Rexulti at a low dosage. Within a week, I saw my mood change. I was very short tempered and easily annoyed. My face was itchy and I had headaches. I stopped taking it after 2 weeks because it just didn't feel right for me. I saw a drastic change soon after. I had horrible anxiety and was confused most days. My memory was severely affected. Things that I thought were "happening" really weren't and my husband became really concerned when I began lying about basic things. This is out of character concretely. I was pretty much out of my mind. It took about just over a full week to feel slightly normal and even then still suffered from lack of sleep. This drug almost ruined me had I continued to use it. I dot not recommend it.Read More Read Less
