I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 22. After trying a few drugs with hideous effects that worsened my condition, by doctor recommended this. I have used it now for 4 years and it has saved my life. This drug can be used to treat manic depression, though it is not widely prescribed for the condition. The drowsiness caused by this medication caused me to get into an accident. This drug should be banned.

My son was prescribed this medication and it has not helped his mood. Is this medication used as a mood stabilizer?

I have neuropathy due to Tethered Cord. Pins and needles from the waist down. I've been on this med for months and it's been more effective than anything else I've taken. It's more a numbness now, which I think I can live with. I do feel like I've gained weight and I sometimes have cognitive problems but, overall, I'm happy with it for now.

It was fine until the doctor increased it then I started getting a sore throat, sinus, rash on my face, excessive thirst, dry mouth. That is too many other problems to deal with just to fix one.

Prescribed this for Bipolar after 3 years of living hell. This medication is a god send. It's all I take now and it has stopped the manic and depressive mood swings. I'm not tired on it or anything. I have gained weight but I'm not sure as to why??? I'll live with that oh yeah I has no negative side affects on sex drive. A+

I was recently prescribed this medication to help with mood swings. I take 300mg/day and have found it to be very helpful. I have been able to cut my anti depression medication in half since taking this medication. The only side effects for me are that I sweat like a pig and my lips are increadibly dry and sometimes feel like I am getting fever blisters that never develope. Overall I think the Oxcarbazpine is a good thing for me.

I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome( a very severe nerve pain and extreme sensitivity) My doctor put me on this and after adjusting my dosage some, it has given me tremendous relief. (I also use Lydocaine patches in addition to this) I'm not saying I no longer get pain or sensitivity, but it doesn't control my life like it did. At first it made me drowsy, but it doesn't so much now. I take 300mg twice a day.
