I wanted to write a review on this after I had finished 3 packs and so I could maybe help someone. And I am glad to say I am very satisfied. Vienva was not my first birth control. I first started on Syeda and that was the worst experience of my life. I didn't even get through 2 weeks and it ended up destroying all my relationships. I stopped taking birth control completely after that and then trie...

My insurance company switched me from Orsythia to Vienva without notifying me, so I took it for the first week thinking they had the same ingredients. Within the first week my boobs shrank, I was nauseous all the time, I was eating like crazy, and I got cystic acne all over my face (again). Orsythia has been the only bc in 6 years that has worked for me since I went from LoEstrin(discontinued). I ...

I got switched to this without warning from Lessina and I do not like it at all. It’s completely messed up my periods! I used to get it pretty much the same day every month on Lessina and now I’m getting it early or late and it’s lasting a lot longer. I’ve also been getting random bleeding between periods. This is super abnormal to me since I’ve always had pretty normal periods, even before going on birth control. Currently dealing with cramps and bleeding only on the second week so I’m definitely not staying on this. Read More Read Less

Was switched to this brand from Larissa (which I really liked and took for 2 years, been on the this type of pill for close to 20 years). Did a search of online reviews and noted anxiety and depression were list quite a few times along with acne and weight gain. Took this pill for 1 month, noticed I would get very emotional, just start crying for no apparent reason (I am not a crier normally) and felt an underlying anxiousness. Had the worst period I’ve had on the pill in years at the end of the first month! 2 days of excessive cramping, longer, heavier flow (4 days compared to 2) and breast tenderness. My mood did improve during the placebo week (I don’t actually take the placebo pills) but 1 week into the new pack and the sadness is back and breasts are very tender. Called the pharmacy to get off this pill, just isn’t working for me. Read More Read Less

Was on Yasmin and then Ocella for about nine years. Switched to Pill Club and they prescribed me Vienva. I never had PMS with the previous pills, not even a cramp, but Vienva caused me to have severe PMDD like clockwork. From about the start of my third week of active Vienva pills until a day or two after my period started, I'd get severe depression and anger, I'd be unable to sleep or eat, I'd have cramping and nausea and breast pain. By the time the anger and depression eased each month, I'd be so exhausted from not sleeping or eating for days on end that I'd just be sick and useless for another few days. I thought I was losing my mind until I started tracking my symptoms and looking at reviews and information about Yaz/Yasmin/Ocella and Vienva. To a much less concerning extent, but still very annoying it has also caused my hair to shed way more and I have acne since taking it. Switching back to Ocella this month and hopefully that will fix the issue before to long. Throwing all the Vienva I have left straight in the garbage where they belong.Read More Read Less

I went on vienva about two months ago. I have never felt more depressed or anxious in my life. I have been on my period for four weeks now. I feel very empty and it made my acne worse. I do not recommend this to anyone. I start crying over nothing and little things make me have a panic attack.

This birth control was first one (I am 22 yo). The 1-2 weeks I was ready to give up, but everyone told me to stick it out and let me body adjust. My anxiety was severely heightened, and I was experiencing depression symptoms (insomnia, anhedonia, irritability, guilt mood swings, etc), but before I knew it, those symptoms completely faded away. I haven’t experienced any side effects besides those, and they only lasted a couple weeks. I haven’t noticed much change in my body besides that my periods are much much lighter & less painful. My advice is: if you have just started this BC and you’re experiencing similar symptoms, give it a couple more weeks and give your mind and body some time to adjust. Read More Read Less

i’ve been on vienva for about 8 months and i love it. when i first started this medication, i got the suicidal thoughts, mood swings and that’s about it. these thoughts didn’t last and neither did the mood swings. i haven’t gotten acne on this but i will say that i do have a rather pale and clear complexion to begin with. i also haven’t gotten pregnant and my periods are regular which is a huge plus. knowing when my period will come and have it come on the same day each month, is amazing and worth trying this. my cramps have also been significantly less than they have been before i started taking vienva. this is also the only birth control i’ve been on. don’t let the horror stories scare you, as everyone is different and every medication is different and you eventually will find the one for you. I started Vienva 5 months ago and I like it. I got emotional, I retained water, and my face broke out. But my body went back to normal after about 2 months. I feel great, I do still break out, but not horribly and it's only the first week of every pack. I haven't got pregnant and really helped with the pain of periods, they're now shorter and regular

I got pregnant using this birth control!! I told my ob after trying to conceive for 4 1/2 years let’s try birth control... well it worked I wasn’t expecting to get pregnant on the pill itself. My plan was to take it for about 6 months to get everything on track and back to normal so I planned to remove myself to get pregnant well after missing a period with the pill I took a test and I was pregnant. So ladies that don’t want children please be careful this is a blessing to me but might not be to you. Read More Read Less

It was effective for me while I used it - as a birth control, it works. I used it for roughly 6 months and I feel that it turned me into a shell of a person, however. My emotions went off the rails, I began to cry easily, my mood swings would be extreme, and I even became tired of this myself. I tried to wait it out however these emotional issues were really affecting my productivity and motivation to work or do anything at all. I couldn't afford to sacrifice any more. I will say it didn't affect my acne, however I suspect that it caused me to lose some weight as I am at my lowest weight ever. My appetite has decreased. It helped regulate my periods really well and reduced cramping a lot. My periods are much lighter now. If it weren't for the crazy mood swings this would have been a great long-term birth control for me. Different things work well for different people.Read More Read Less

First BC I've been put on because my periods have gotten terrible & I get excruciating cramps to the point I throw up. Was nervous to try it because of side effects but I've been on it 6 months now and it's okay. While my periods have shortened from 7 days to 3-4 days, I still have horrible cramping. Pros is a shorter period and my skin is clear. Cons is terrible cramps still, I'm hungry all the time & I barely have any sex drive. Spoke with my dr about skipping the placebo pills in the last week so I won't get one at all so giving that a try and hope it works! Definitely try it out for yourself and if it's not for you switch.Read More Read Less

At first I loved this pill. I didn't really experience mental side effects, my skin was glowy and I didn't bloat. But the longer I was on it I would get nausea because I would get SO hungry even though my eating habits hadn't changed since I started the pill. Thankfully I haven't gained weight, maybe it just makes my metabolism faster. But I am definitely losing hair. CLUMPS fall out in the shower. I've also noticed increased irritability and got cystic acne for the first time. Needless to say I'll probably be switching off of this soon. Read More Read Less

I was really scared to take any kind of bc pills because I've heard all of the scary side affects. I have endometriosis, really bad painful periods, and am "active" every now and then. I wasn't prescribed these pills, my boyfriends aunt gave me hers because she's getting a hysterectomy. She told me just to try them and see. What I did notice is I do get a little more acne the first week, but it calms down as I go through the pack. Ive always been a little emotional, so it does have a little impact on it, but its not to anything extreme, maybe just a little more tears lol but it's just for like a short period, it got better over time. My periods are shorter, not as painful, I haven't gained weight. But I've been trying to lose weight since before I started anyways. I'm 16, 5'2, 125 pounds. I recommend drinking lots of water to avoid water retention, it hasn't happened to me but that's what I was told. And to take extra vitamins like B vitamins, zinc, VC, magnesium, multivitamins, etc. Things like that. I am now prescribed to them, I haven't gotten pregnant so that's a plus. Everyone is different and reacts differently, but my advice is to simply try it first for at least 2-3 months, and if it's not for you then change it. :)Read More Read Less

Started this brand due to me switching from Larissia, which gave me horrible side effects such as extreme depression and anxiety. I have been on Vienva for about a year, and at the beginning of starting this brand I was extremely nauseous for a few days, and had little to no sex drive. After about a month those subsided and I regained my sex drive and was no longer nauseous after taking a pill. Although I did notice a huge change in my weight due to me now being hungry ALL the time, as well as my breasts growing and many mood swings. I am currently now switching to a different brand Read More Read Less

This is my very first birth control pill, I am 24 years old, never been on BC. I began this pill in June. In the 2 full months I’ve been on it, I’ve experienced emotional distress but that’s been regulated with other medications and hobbies. We are currently experiencing a pregnancy scare, we’ve been sexually active after one week of starting the pill. I had some spotting in August, for 4 days, I thought it was my period, but I am unsure. My period is light and 3 days long. So anyways, we are getting a pregnancy test today!Read More Read Less

I have been on vienva now for about 4 months. For the first two months I experienced terrible nausea, mild cramping, and some breast pain here and there. I also was having terrible breakdowns and taking them out on my partner. The third month was fantastic though! Everything seemed to be getting better. I am now on my fourth month and have been bleeding for a little over a week on my active pills. I’m assuming this is due to me taking my pills a little different this month and changing the times here and there. As for effectiveness, so far so good. Still a bit nauseous here and there and I can say this pill has made me extremely anxious and more tired and depressed. But, like all medications, it just takes time. I am going to stick it out and see what happens. Read More Read Less

Everyone can have a different experience on this pill. However, if you struggle with anxiety or depression my advice is to really stay on top of how you feel. This made my mental health decline so quick and I was only on it for a month. Things such as mood swings, hopelessness, and feeling extremely irritable were some things I was experiencing, and not to mention I was suddenly waking up up in the middle of the night trying to fall back alseep everyday after the first week of being on it. I knew the pill had something to do with it since i had never felt like that low before before, It just amplified everything. Again this may work for you but stay on top of how you feel because if you’re not feeling your best, this could be the reason. Read More Read Less

This pill destroyed me, the past 6 months of my life have been a nightmare. Crying every single day, anxiety over the roof (shaking), depressed ( can’t get out of bed or do anything), I because abusive and aggressive with my boyfriend blaming him for all my symptoms not knowing this stupid pill was causing it. He had to take me to the Er because my body wouldn’t stop shaking and I was throwing up acid every 20-30 minutes, my heart would beat so fast and I would sweat while having chills. Instead of realizing it was the pill they just gave me anxiety medication which made things even worse. I don’t recommend this pill at all! I had to move back in with my parents and that’s when I stopped taking it and realized it was the pill all along.Read More Read Less
