I started to take this pill and I quickly started to notice weight gain. I been so sensitive.

Never caused any weight gain. I actually loss weight on this pill with exercise and diet. The first 2 months I did have one issue with spotting for a week, but it hasn’t happened since. When beginning to take it, it did have some mental effects but those went away after the first 2-3 months

While it was easy to use this, it completely changed my energy, mood, and made me heavier longer when the point of taking it was to skip my period. I was prescribed to take it, skip placebos, and start a new pack. I was tired all the time, which I thought was from teaching, but I've been off it a couple weeks, and my energy is back, and I feel normal again. I didn't even want to try moving forward with it. I think I got through maybe two packs, before I gave up. The periods were extremely heavy and longer than normal and I was not on the placebos at the time. My suggestion is if you don't NEED it, don't take it. Not worth the side effects.Read More Read Less

It was hard to rate this, as it is effective and easy to take. It's a pill, I take it with my daily allergy meds and it does its job preventing pregnancy. But holy cow do I hate this BC. On a prior pill, my periods would last barely 3 days and were so light I only needed one tampon a day. I just started month 4 of Vieva, and I'm on week three of my period and it's so heavy I have to change super tampons every few hours. This is ridiculous! Although I initially received this pill based on my NP's advice, it did little no help. The only benefit I received was skipping my period but in my honest opinion, another brand can definitely do the same without the side effects. Although it's a combination pill but not FDA approved to help "clear" skin. I had a couple of breakouts prior to using this pill. It's been 3 months and this pill has taken a disastrous toll on my skin. I've broken out so so bad. One of the worst experiences I've been going through with this pill. Haven’t gotten pregnant, haven’t had bad acne from this or any weird hormonal changes!

This was my first bc prescription. I was on it during my Spring semester in college and got it from student health. I loved it! I was worried about gaining weight or mood swings and neither really happened that I could notice (or my twin sister noticed). I did get acne, but nothing more than the amount I usually get. When you start bc its important to understand that there will be side effects. I read a lot of these reviews and maybe it just wasnâ??t the right pill for them, but it was fantastic for me. I started taking this three months ago, It is the only birth control i’ve taken so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I am 17 didn’t really have a problem with acne before but it’s super bad now. I have extreme mood swings, i cry super easily and get angry even faster. This pill made my boobs hurt and very tender fora long time. I’ve never had a major problem with eating before but now i always am hungry and it’s made me gain a lot of weight. Taking this birth control was THE WORST DECISION. I’ve previously been on lutera & aviane (two other generics) but my pharmacy switched me to Vienva. Within 2 weeks I had more acne than I did in my teen years (I’m 23), HORRIBLE mood swings where I would get mad over literally nothing, my periods were so heavy & had the worst cramps. I did everything to get rid of my acne and it wouldn’t go away. I’ve been on birth control since I was 16 years old and never have had this happen to me. I gave It 3 months and STILL felt horrible. Got my pharmacy to order / switch me back to Aviane and now 3 weeks later no acne, no cramps, & I feel way more calm. Do what you want with this information but It was NOT for me at all. I wanted to write a review on this after I had finished 3 packs and so I could maybe help someone. And I am glad to say I am very satisfied. Vienva was not my first birth control. I first started on Syeda and that was the worst experience of my life. I didn't even get through 2 weeks and it ended up destroying all my relationships. I stopped taking birth control completely after that and then tried again after a few months. I went to my doctor and made sure this one would not destroy my life. And let me just say, TRUST YOUR DOCTOR!!! They picked this one for you for a reason so give it a chance. If it doesn't work out call them right away and get it fixed. As far as side effects goes, I experienced headaches and nausea for the first month but it went away. I do have a little bit more acne but I rather have a little more acne than a birth control that doesn't work for me. When I first read all these reviews I was terrified but you have to remember that different medicines have different affects on different people!!! I am 38 and Iron Anemic. My dr put on this too make my periods lighter and like clockwork in hopes that I can retain more of my own blood. I am on my 4th month, having the worst cramps of my life AND just bled for 15 days! This is nuts, nobody needs this no matter what the reason is you have been given. My periods may have been heavy but only for 2 or 3 days, now I can bleed “lighter” for weeks, no!

I am commenting to warn you before taking Vienva. My doctor put me on Vienva because I complained about having a low sex drive. I took it for six months and completely regret it. I have never been SO depressed in my life. I have absolutely no motivation to go anywhere or do anything, which is abnormal of me. There are days where I will not get out of bed because of the extreme depression this has caused. Vienva changed me into a different person which has negatively impacted my grades, work life, and relationships. Not only that, but my face has been full of acne for months now and will not go away. I've tried changing my diet, changing my skin care routine, until I realized it was the birth control. Horrible!!! It made my hair thin and fall out and caused terrible acne. Avoid at all costs!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This drug ruined a better half of the year, and I will never get that time back. I have been off of it for a bit now (switched to a NON-HORMONAL IUD). I am happy again, my hair is growing back (I was balding from Vienva), I am regaining all the friends I lost while acting crazy/depressed/weepy/fall-down-tired/irrational from the pill, my appetite is restored (I was non-stop eating and always hungry on the pill) and my time is now spent more productively, not just lying in bed crying for no reason all day. I have been so irritable since starting this pill, feel like a lunatic, have been on edge, moody on the verge of tears for weeks.

I have been taken the birth control for 3 months now and want to get off them because of the horrible side effects! My doctor prescribed me this birth control because of the health problem I have!! I canâ??t take the side effects you get headaches Pimples On you face and depression And etc!! I am done with this!! The only good things I donâ??t get pregnant !!!

I normally have a high tolerance for pain, but holy cow!! My cramps have been COMPLETELY UNBEARABLE! It had been almost 10 years since I had ever taken any pain killers (Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.) but I'm taking them daily now. I stopped taking Vienva after the third day of terrible cramps. The cramps are still happening now, two days after I've stopped taking Vienva. I've also been bleeding for two weeks. Not spotting. BLEEDING as though I'm on my period. I've also had a few crying meltdowns for no reason. All my emotions are multiplied and I feel like I'm all over the place. This has been absolutely awful and my fiance no longer wants me taking any kind of birth control because the side effects of Vienva have been so bad. I took Orsythia a year ago when I was on birth control back then and I never had any side effects like these. I found a pharmacy that special ordered it for me, so I hope you can do the same. This is the worst BC I have ever taken! The last few weeks I have been anxious, depressed, moody, angry, on the verge of crying and so tired that I feel like I have no motivation to do anything besides lay on the couch. I didn’t know what was going on with me until I read these reviews and realized that it is this pill doing this to me! I stopped taking this yesterday and I will never go back. I hope I feel normal again soon because I have never felt this horrible in my life. I just wanted to alert you about the Vienva birth control pill... It has made huge clumps of hair fall out or die on my head. The hair that used to hang long and cover the back of my neck is now gone. The top of my head has broken dead hairs that are not much longer than a few inches. While on this pill I felt extreme depression (insanely bad; I'd just sit in my room and cry most nights or randomly cry throughout the days outside my apartment...I couldn't place where the sadness was coming from), loss of sex-drive, loss of interest in socializing, and loss of motivation to go to the gym. My appetite has been totally uncontrollable. I feel like I eat 4 times what I use to and still I feel hungry or just crave food badly. I feel bloated and crazy. All of these symptoms that I've mentioned were not present or problematic before I started taking this pill. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS!!! My pharmacist has changed my birth control several times over the years, and every change makes me weepy/emotional/cranky for a short period, and then inevitably I regulate my hormones and feel okay. With Vienva, however, nearly every day was bad and continued badly for about a month and half. I'm naturally a bubbly, outgoing, social butterfly, but this pill destroyed me. My hair fell out in huge clumps, and died where it held onto the scalp. I now need a pixie cut if I am ever going to regain my full hair. I also lost my enthusiasm for life. I quickly became 1000% depressed, debating whether life was worth it. I cried periodically throughout each day for almost no reason, and cried myself to sleep every night. My joy in friends, the gym, and sex all vanished. My appetite increased tremendously and I felt little ability to manage my hunger or keep it satiated. Long story short, this birth control is the worst I've ever experienced, and I've been on many pills. This pill will wreck your self esteem, internal pep, and vigor for what you normally love.
