I was terrified about prepping my bowel for my first colonoscopy. I have a phobia about feeling nausea and of vomiting. I also have a hard time drinking unpleasant things. I have to say that all of my anxiety was blown way out of proportion. The amount of medication that needed to be consumed was quite small and very manageable. The liquid is thin and clear and the taste was not bad - it remi...

I was so scared of talking this drug. I worker myself up over nothing. I laid off heavy foods a day before prep. Let's say Clenpiq is nasty but goes down easy if you do it quickly with a straw. Mine took about an hour before it kicked in but no explosives going on. I never had an massive amount of stool just watery stool off and on for three hours. Not bad at all and nothing to work yourself up over. Had a little dizziness. REMEMBER!!! Please hydrate before, during, and after the process.Read More Read Less

Took as split dose for colonoscopy prep. The taste was better than expected and easy to get small bottle down. About 30 mi utes later the dizziness, nausea and head pressure started. It was effective and cleaned me out but the side effects were rough. Second dose was just as dizzy but got through procedure and was clean per Dr.

Was scheduled for a routine colonoscopy. This medicine was easy to use. Took it at 6pm, followed by the required liquids, and then some! Worked within a hour. Was on and off the toilet until 11pm. Took the 2nd dose at 1am, again with the required liquids (drank a lot of G2 gator aid and water both times) and was in the bathroom for 2 more hours! This trip was mostly water! So I knew I was “cleaned” out. I also stopped all RED meat, ham, bacon etc for a week before. Ate a low fiber diet, and easy digestible foods 3 days before the “liquid” day. Taste was tolerable...like a sweet cranberry cough syrup. The key is the FORCE as much fluids as possible the day before! Good for you fluids, water, G2 gatoraid, ice tea, broth, jello etc! I drank so much the day before I was nearly floating! But it’s so good for your system! Then drink more then the required 5 - 8oz cups...I had them lined up...drank G2 gatoraid and water . I did drink a cup of hot herbal tea right after both doses of meds...the warm liquid helped to wash down the meds! Side note, the doc did want me to take the meds at 4am, but my procedure was at 9am, had to be at the surgery center at 7:50am, if I had done that, I’d would of still be going! Knowing the last few trips to the bathroom from the 1st dose, I was running clear, I felt my body was ready for the 2nd dose at 1am and not 4am! But everyone is different! The doc did say i was clean! So it worked well, the key was to eat lite, easy digeable meals 3 days before your liquid only day! Stop red meat and high fiber stuff a week before!!! 36 year old female with family history of cancer. Used for colonoscopy prep, 2 step process. First dose at 4 pm day before. it started working after about 90 minutes, I experienced bloating and some internal gymnastics and was on and off the toilet until 10 pm. After 2nd liquid BM no smell. 2nd dose 8 am day of the 1 pm procedure. I had to alternate sipping the 2nd dose and sipping water to get it down, the flavor can get pretty bitter. Final yellowish-Brown liquid BM 90 minutes before procedure but I did still have some rumbling. I prepped for the prep by going on a low fiber diet 3 days in advance and drinking a lot of water. I had Gatorade, green jello, and Gatorade and apple juice popsicles ready. Day before and day of I had English breakfast tea with no milk or sugar. I am a smoker and day of procedure I smoked one cigarette at 6:30 am. I was able to sleep through the night and lost track of how many times I refilled my 20 oz water bottle. I am currently dealing with internal and external hemorrhoids so I had medicated wipes ready and on the day of the procedure I was using those and Vaseline to to keep things mostly comfortable. Procedure went well and now waiting on the pathology for the polyp that was removed. A close friend just died from colon cancer at 51, if your doctor recommends the procedure do not put it off. I took off work the day of the prep and procedure and was off the day after the procedure so I had some time for my system to adjust. I spent most of the prep in bed reading and taking it pretty easy. Drink lots of water and have some otc things to sooth your bottom. Read More Read Less

My husband and I both took Clenpiq for our colonoscopies today. The effectiveness of the solution was fine however we both experienced the horrible side effects listed. After the first dose we both immediately felt headaches. The pain intensified even though we were fully hydrating. By the time we were to take the second dose six hours later my headache was at migraine stage and we both were extremely nauseous. We chocked down the second dose but I was only able to keep it in for two hours. By then I was â??running clearâ? and allowed myself to vomit whatever was left. I was violently ill for another two hours but managed to sleep the night through after my body was rid of the drug. It was a horrible experience. We would not recommend this product. I took Clenpiq for my first colonoscopy recently. I was a little apprehensive about the prep, and whether I would be able to tolerate a potentially foul-tasting liquid prep. I'm a little sensitive about that stuff. Here's my assessment: It takes about 3 seconds to chug the 5oz bottle. Here's a second-by-second acccount of my thoughts while drinking it: 1st second - "Hey this tastes ok" 2nd second - "Wait, it actually might taste bad. I can't tell". 3rd second -"Oh, I'm finished. That wasn't so bad at all. But I'm going to drink a little something to get the taste out my mouth anyway," It did its job well. Took a little over an hour before first bowel movement. After 4 hours, I was still going occasionally -- but. I drank A LOT of liquids afterwards. If you are doing a spit prep, just keep in mind that you might want to give yourself an extra hour for it to finish before your colonoscopy. No cramping or nausea.Read More Read Less

After 2 doses, I have not had one bowel movement. Colonoscopy is tomorrow morning and I will not be cleared out. Waste of my time and money.

Clenpiq caused an awful migraine. Listed side effects: nausea, vomiting, headache. Prep flavor VERY strong (cranberry). Needed fluid wash down after ea sip. Was esp difficult next AM (I did split dose) when I was already nauseous before starting. Took me an hour to get down half the dose! Had to stop due to extreme nausea. Migraine intensified. I called clinic to see if I could take anti-nausea and migraine meds. Thankfully, yes. Took promethazine and immed threw up. Got down mig med, felt better, slept 2 hrs. Very worried that I had no BM all morning, and only did half of the 2nd dose clenpiq. Terrified I wouldn’t be cleaned out and need a repeat scope!! (This was my 4th scope so I can handle fasting, fluids, and runny butt, but the migraine/nausea this time were unbearable). I had one BM just before climbing in the gurney, and it was still cloudy. :-((. Miracle of miracles, scope went well and Doc said I did a ‘good job’ with cleaning out.Read More Read Less

I took this medication by the exact instructions. I had only broth the previous day. It did not work and I was treated very poorly by the staff following the attempted colonoscopy. My doctor did not give me any other options and I paid over $100 for this drug. When I spoke with the doctor he suggested there was a 2-3% "failure" of the drug. I ask him how he came up with those numbers seeing as the drug only became available in February of this year (2018) and had only been FDA approved in December 2017. My physician touted the "one day" effect of the drug but never offered any alternatives such as the usual 2 day methods used for years. Like I, or anyone else for that matter, want to do this procedure twice? Well... that's exactly what he wants me to do. Of course he gets paid twice... so I guess that it's great for him. In the consult room the shelves were piled high with this drug and there are no other drugs displayed. It grumps me out that I, the patient, come in second to the drug provider and kick-backs to the doctor. Without the "patient" neither entity have anyone on which to "practice" their trade. I asked the doctor if he was, in fact, able to travel the entire colon. He affirmed he was. I asked him if he discovered any "boulders" in the colon. He affirmed that he he hadn't. I suggested that was enough for me and further explained that I wanted nothing to do with him or the hospital and staff where I had the procedure done. I would suggest anyone having this procedure research what is available out there and stay away from providers who are beholden to drug-makers and place profits above the patients knowledge and benefit. Alas... but that seems to be the way of the American medical provider community. SAD...Read More Read Less

The taste wasn't that bad I was able to swallow liquid without gagging. Tasted like a really sweet cough syrup. I used a cup of white grape juice to drink while taking and 4 8oz cups of water after that. No after taste. Clenpiq definitely WORKS
