After struggling with Heroin addiction, prison, relapses and parole violations which destroyed over a decade of my life I went on suboxum 5 years ago to help me stay out of prison and get my life together. Over the past 5 years I have tried to taper off of the suboxum several times without any success. Three months ago I recieved my first 100mg sublacade shot in place of the 12mg of suboxum I ha...

First, I’m gonna suggest that the top 5 star review was written and submitted by the Pharm Rep who sells this medication. The vernacular is straight out of a talking point, “leave behind” marketing piece. I received my first shot in February and it was a roller coaster until I finally surrendered and went back to the Sub Film Strips for this month. So I had 5 injections, plenty of time to be s...

Other than the shot itself, which is extremely painful on your first one. I didn't ice the injection side before hand, the nurse did let me know it was gonna be a very uncomfortable experience. But after being on Suboxone for a year and a half, I was ready to get off. It's nice not having to remember to take it in the mornings now. I wake up and go about my day as if I wasn't on Suboxone. I have 3 more injections to get and I will be done with it for good. It's a savior medication.

Took pain pills almost everyday from 2006-2014. It was ruling my life. I was up to 25 hydrocodone 10 mg pills per day. Took Oxy, Roxys, Tramadol. Morphine pills. Codeine pills. All that mess. I was a functioning addict. In 2014 March I went on Suboxone until Oct 2021 when my Sub Dr passed away and had to change Drs. Thank GOD I did because my new Dr put me on Sublocade 300 shot in the beginning of Oct ,one more in Nov, then 100 mg shot in Dec. It's 10.5 months later and haven't taken a pain pill or any Suboxone at all. I'm done with all that ish. Sublocade got me off Sub painlessly and with zero withdrawal symptoms. I may be the exception on this but getting off Suboxone was shockingly easy with the 3 monthly shots of Sublocade. I got incredibly horrible WD symptoms trying to get off of opioids cold turkey, that's why I kept going back for 8 long years and never tried getting off of Suboxone. Hopefully Sublocade will work as well for you as it did for me .Read More Read Less

I started with tramadal supposed to be non addictive. ....... BS. I sought out help and started suboxone but after 6years I realized I was getting high from it as well I couldn't wait for my next dose and the uplift it gave . I was down. To 4/2mg a day when I started Sublocade and they made me up my dose for a month. The first dose of sublocade burned like no other. Severe pain like someone was holding a plasma torch to my stomach. It was too much medicine I was tired ,dizzy , headache I went in for my second dose a week late and it was just as bad I actually thought I was having a heart attack and passed out , my wife took me to er. I delayed my 3rd dose 3 weeks because it was too much medicine for me . Now on 100mg that's not as bad but the itching at the site is brutal. All that said it's totally worth it going on vacation and not worrying about having enough or being treated like a junkie when you need to get an early refill because of some reason or another due to travel or whatever . Maybe even because you took a little extra. Seems like these people would rather you go find some drugs on the street than give you an early refill. Anyway just had my 3rd 100mg it was 8 weeks since the last one and I had honestly forgot to go in. Ready to try and stop completely. Either way it feels like you have your life back from day 1. If you don't really want to stop, your brain won't let this work bottom line. You have to want to quit for this to work .Read More Read Less

Mixed feelings.. I was on 16mg of subutex (straight sublingual bupenorphrine pills with no naloxone) for over 3 years because I had an awful allergic reaction to naloxone. but I want to be real with everyone reading this. My doctor pushed hard & I know that they do get bonuses & pay from drug reps so this bothered me & was a red flag! I was so upset because I was very successful on this form of bup for a long time. I reluctantly tried it out. Yes, very painful burning because it's a thick gel made to turn into a hard ball that releases amounts through the month. Besides the mental feeling of not taking it daily I was ok the first 2 months of the 300mg shots. No cravings, withdrawal or anything. When switched over to the 100mg shot, I had withdrawals in week 2. Mild, bit still there. I continued to stick with it for 2 more 100mg shots. I'm now almost 3 months from my last shot, which obv. No effects during the first month, after that I started to be more & more clear & now almost 3 months later I am feeling extreme exhaustion & being cold alot, but it is not your traditional withdrawal symptoms, I think it's my body coming back to what it's supposed to be because pre opioid, I was a cold person. During I was a sweaty hot mess the entire time. I hope I am just better as this year goes. But I'm very worried about after the 172-300 day mark when your body has expelled it all. Well see, but to be honest, it is the only thing that makes sense if you are serious about getting off of bupenorphrine because you just stop doing the shots at some point & your body will expel the drug at a regular rate. Currently I'm just super exhausted, but could be a # of things, I'm obese, could be thyroid or lots of stuff. Any other time I weened off of anything I had severe withdrawal & eventually relapsed months later. Although I'm worried, I would never go back to the liquid handcuffs of methadone, and what would've been a lifetime of sunutex use. I pray it actually works long term or I'll need to go back on the subutex which was fine for me..Read More Read Less

I have to agree with another post I read. Not strong enough. I’ve been taking 16 mg suboxone a day for past 8 years or so. Haven’t had cravings in years. I decided to try sublocade shot because I thought maybe the nelaxone was making me have some other problems. First 2 or 3 days i was fine. After that it’s getting worse by the day. Cravings is unreal bad. The physical withdrawal isn’t severe but definitely there. Little worse each day. Im convinced people who are successful with it either didn’t take 16 mg suboxone a day before or didn’t take it very long before. This has scared me because I’ve done so good for so long. Rebuilt so much of my life and now feel like it could all be gone in a instant.Read More Read Less

So I got my Sublocade shot on Friday May 20, 2022 & its been a rollorcoaster which was my main reason for getting it in the 1st place. Anybody else feel like its not strong enough? Or isn't working right? Ive had withdrawal everyday since getting it 9 days ago. Not all day but for a portion of the day, everyday. Im so disappointed & discouraged. I was so looking forward to it but my experience is nothing like any of the reviews Ive read. My Dr says to just keep pushing thru smh. Which is what ive been doing. But look, I have a 3 year old daughter I take care of 100% by my self!! Also want to point out this!! I used to love benzos!!! Needed them yes but I loved them even more than that. For the first time in 3 years (since starting & taking suboxone) I had my 1st experience with having cravings!!! It kinda pi##es me off....esp with my Dr not taking it seriously. Somebody please help! Give me some adviceRead More Read Less

I was addicted to painkillers for 5-6 yrs when I started taking Suboxone which was shortly after it hit the market. I was taking 2mg/.5 - 3 x's daily for over 10 years. After attempting to taper off Suboxone more times I can count I had just accepted that I'd most be taking it for the rest of my life. Then about 8 months ago I heard about Sublocade & decided to make the switch because I was tired of the feeling I got every month when I ran out of my prescription. I received the Sublocade injections for 4 months & before reaching, what they refer to as steady state. When it came time for my 5th injection my doctor & I agreed I would hold off from getting it until I felt like I needed it. It's now been 4 months since my last Sublocade shot & I haven't had any signs of withdrawal at all. This drug is a miracle. Over the last 10 yrs I couldnt go more then 1 full day without a suboxone strip or I felt like I wanted to die from the horrible feelings of withdraw. I truly wish this drug was around earlier but I'm so thankful I made the switch & finally got off the suboxone rollercoaster. If your on Suboxone and you want to stop taking it, do it, it was the best decision I ever made & my only regret was I didn't do it sooner. I would of been on Suboxone for the rest of my life if it wasn't for Sublocade. FYI - they're made by the same company. I've read the Sublocade can stay in your system for up to a year so my journey may not be over yet, only time will tell but I'm committed now that I have the chance. Read More Read Less

I've been doing Fentanyl off and on for 6 years. Overdosed several times and lost two friends to it. After two and a half years on 105mg of Methadone daily I entered rehab for the third time. Doctor's were great and switched me from Methadone to suboxone then to sublocade. I would have never been able to get off Methadone without hospitalization and experienced doctors at a private hospital. Sublocade is still fairly new. Doctor's are now saying that Fentanyl users may require more than the first two 300mg injections. Maybe four 300mg shots. I received two 300mg shots than the 100mg maintenance doses. I had to be topped up the first 4 months with 1mg daily of suboxone about 5-7 days before my scheduled injection. Felt withdrawal symptoms and cravings started which several times I did follow through with but was able to stop again. As for the injection its self, I've had 3 different medical professionals do it. The instructions say to inject slowly. It burns but is bare able. Very intense burning feeling but lasts about 5-10 minutes. Tender for a day or two. I have had a slow injection, a fast injection and slow injection with ice on the area prior to injection, they all feel the same. Ice doesn't stop that burning. I usually pinch the back of my hand to counter the pain during the injection and it seems to work. I go for my 9th injection next week. I plan on getting a few more. I was on 14mg suboxone when I switched to sublocade and didn't feel any different. Doctor said he had 2 patients that only had one injection and tapered off with no withdrawal. I think I'm at the point where I can stop taking sublocade and it will taper with no withdrawal. Read More Read Less

Suboxone worked over 2 years. In September last year it started not absorbing. I did EVERYTHING the doctors asked hoping something would help it absorb. I finally started sublocade (month long buprenorphine shot) and on the first day it worked. It worked well for about a week and then started declining until it wasn't even in my urine. I haven't started any medication

Was on 8-16mg suboxone for 11 years. I got my first shot of sublocade in march 2022 and my second this month. The first month i felt great for the first 3 weeks then had withdrawal the last week before the 2nd shot. Its been 2 weeks since second shot and feel ok. The shot is too painful to describe for about 5 minutes but no long term pain. I have had zero urge to switch back to suboxone. Btw i am not a weed smoker and take no other drugs prescribed or otherwise. Highly recommend but hope the current ok feeling doesn't go downhill like last month. Read More Read Less

I struggled with addiction for 14 years tried anything and everything to stop. Went from taking perk 10s straight to heroine. Was in and out of jail till I landed in prison. Came home relapsed and my doctor preferred i don't go on suboxone strips and get the 100mg sublocade shot instead. I received my last shot about 2 months ago and all I feel is a lil aches not enough to sideline me I now run my own business father of 5 and a normal functioning member of society. This was by far the best decision I made for my life. Read More Read Less

I really REALLY wanted this to work. I tried to stay away from the internet/reading reviews because I wanted my experience to be unbiased. I wasn't able to completely stay away as I looked up the medicine on another informational RX site I stumbled across some very positive reviews (which actually only helped in confirming my decision). I felt great about my choice to go on Sublocade. I didn't research it anymore past that... My doc works at a teaching hospital so I really believe she had no ulterior motive/compensation other than to help me get off my meds (I have made that a clear goal). After being on Suboxone for a VERY long time and fluctuating between 16 and 24mg a day for around 13-14 years now, I got my first 300mg shot. People are right though, it HURTS. I have tattoos all over my body and I can handle this type of pain pretty well but holy smokes did this hurt. It sent very sharp, stinging pains throughout my abdomen for about 30-45 mins and then the sharp pains/stinging just stopped. After that it felt sore/tender to the touch for a couple weeks - nothing I couldn't deal with. Day one I got home and felt pretty great. That night I started to feel "off" but just ignored it and figured it was psychological after not taking my Suboxone for the first time in over a decade. Then day 2 (36 hours no Suboxone) came the flu-like symptoms. Uncontrollable shivering, tearing eyes, feverish skin crawls, sweats, diarrhea, horrible depression and lack of motivation... Sound familiar? It wasn't as bad as what I remember as "full on withdrawal" but it was pretty darn close. I hadn't felt that way in close to 15 years and it was devastating. I had to make excuses with my kids (which I hate doing). I forgot how horrible withdrawal is. I investigated every single avenue I could trying to place blame on anything but the medicine... Was it a virus? The flu? An infection? COVID? I had a tooth pulled recently because and was prepping for an implant. I thought "maybe an infection went septic?" and got tons of bloodwork done - all came back normal. I watched my blood pressure go all over the charts the next few days. If I am being honest with myself, I knew it was the medicine... It was pretty obvious. I got my shot on a Wednesday and by Sunday I felt like I was dying. I called my doc's emergency line that Sunday night and thank goodness the on-call doc called me in some Suboxone. I'm lucky to have the care I do - my doctors actually believe me unlike for some of the people here... They didn't understand my symptoms from a purely scientific perspective but still believed me none-the-less. Anyway, after a dose or two of Suboxone I was back to feeling so so much better but still far from perfect. I feel like there is some chemical or interaction that's released within Sublocade that worsens the flu-like feelings lots of folks here are experiencing. Atrigel is a biodegradable polymer and hasn't had a ton of research done on it and Sublocade itself was rushed to market. After about two weeks of taking my normal 24mg Suboxone dose I was back to feeling normal again. I decided to try one more 300mg shot after a long discussion with my wife and doc. We had a backup plan this time (which included compensating with Suboxone if needed). The second shot was unfortunately the same. After 24 hours I started to feel withdrawal and right back on Suboxone I went... I really feel like the translation of the buprenorphine amount is either wrong or the slow atrigel absorption rates aren't enough for those who have been on Suboxone long-term. The literature says a patient doesn't absorb as much Suboxone sublingually as you do with the injection but after 15 years I've perfected how I take Suboxone. At 24mg/day that's 720mg a month. How can 300mg=720mg? Also keep in mind that 300mg is designed to disperse well over 30 days. After discontinuing Sublocade it's been reported that buprenorphine can still be found in the blooRead More Read Less
