Plenvu kit had 2 packets. The first was Mango (16 oz) which tasted like salt water mango but better than the gross tasting stuff from others. Drank another 16 oz at 5 and had cleanout start around 6:30 pm. Then 2nd packet(s) was Tropical fruit flavor salt water. Still very tolerable. I was very full after both. The 2nd packet I took at 3 am and basically had complete clean out by 4:30 am but still...

you get diarrhoea to the point where you are incontinently passing dirty water. In this condition I was supposed to travel 20 miles for a colonoscopy. I had to cancel after 3 days preparation. A total waste of money everyone's time and 3 days of my life. What do these people use for brains?

This medication should never have been approved by the FDA. It is vile. I have had prior colon preps with no issues. I had an extreme allergic reaction after the colonoscopy which included extreme chills and vomiting and I ended up with two cold sores where the medication had touched. I cannot believe this was approved by the FDA. In addition, you have to pay a minimum of $50 AFTER a $50 coupon. Never again.

POO SPLODER 5000 This was my 1st time, so I can't compare Plenvu to other preps. 1) The 1st dose is BITTER. I didn't read that in any reviews, so I wasn't expecting it. "Good" news: the taste doesn't linger. You can rinse it right out with a swig of apple juice, coffee or something else strong-tasting--Gatorade is too weak, IMO. That was the best tip I read: have another drink ready between gulps of Liquid Evil. The 2nd dose is NOT bitter. (Both are salty) 2) From reviews, I was terrified I would spend the night puking, not be cleaned out for the procedure, & have to repeat the fasting & misery. I took an anti-nausea pill 1hr before each dose. I also had a back-up plan: magnesium citrate, which cost less than $3. You can easily find instructions online; this gave me significant peace of mind. 3)This was not painful. From previous experience w/laxatives & diarrhea, I was dreading cramping & pain. For me, it was just like urinating--albeit from the wrong side. 4) More "good" news: I was, for the most part, able to "hold it" for a minute or so, long enough to hobble (I am handicapped) to the toilet & sit down, even though it was 100% liquid after the 1st trip to the bathroom. This surprised me, as I normally have some bowel incontinence. However, the 1st trip (somewhat solid) was bad; I had to take a shower after. 5) Dose 1 (8pm) took 2hrs to work; then 90 min, evac, 1 hr, evac, 30 min, evac, 30 min, evac. I started to worry that I wouldn't stop before getting in the car, so I took Dose 2 a couple hours early, at 2am. 6) I took notes so I could write a review, but had to stop--I was going every 5-10 minutes for a couple hours towards the end. 7) No sleep AT ALL; dozed maybe 3-5min 8) Stopped going around 6--7am (appt was at 9:30), didn't go again until 1pm (got home at 12). Took 4 anti-diarrheal pills, peaceful nap at 5pm, all good since then. 9) If possible, do clear diet/minimal food 2-3 days before. Less solids=less mess 10) Prep worked--procedure went wellRead More Read Less

healthy,81yrs,4 prior colonoscopies ,all ok.took 1st.dose PLENVU. By 9pm action both ends.vomiting continued for 5 hrs.called A/H Doctor,no real help. From 9pm to 2.30am continued vomiting any fluids I attempted to take .Became feverish and shaking. In desperation of worsening condition went to hospital. After 2hr wait in waiting room went into a SEIZURE. I have no memory of the next 30 hrs.Family tell me I had a terrible day.very agitated. had to be forceable restrained. Second day recovered speech but not memory of previous day. Had many various tests, a cat scan and a MRI.Appears the bowel motions and 5hr of vomiting deplete my sodium and electrolyte level to a dangerous level and thus the Seizure. I also suffered vomit on my lungs as a result.Iwas discharged after 4 days but not over it a week later with black bowel motions persisting. Meanwhile I have lost my driving license and still need a colonoscopy and further medical treatment.Overall a disaster.Read More Read Less

This was my 2nd colonoscopy - the Plenvu was better than the Suprep last time - I used a straw and struggled through. The first dose did the job somewhat. After taking the 2nd dose it worked and worked - no sleep and had the procedure and even a few hours later that day was still working. That was not fun. Overall it is what it is.

I get a colonoscopy every year and consider myself an expert! First of all, this is the best tasting prep ever. Donâ??t be fooled they all taste like the Devils effluence! However, this prep I can palate without masking with soda or Gatorade. No massive bowel evac until the second dose. Suprep never cleaned this well. I am a tad dehydrated but not to the extent expressed in these reviews. Issue for me, insurance would not pay for it. Itâ??s worth the cost for less pain and better results than other prep treatments I write as I am readying for my procedure. Read More Read Less

This was my 2nd colonoscopy, so I knew what I experienced this time with Plenvu was not normal. After the procedure, I reviewed the package insert for PlenVu Two-Day Split-Dosing Regimen. Under the adverse reaction section, I found every single symptom I experienced listed. As a result of experiencing all of Plenvu's potential adverse symptoms in the extreme, I filed an on-line MedWatch Voluntary Report with the FDA (who approved this product in May 2018). To others who experienced adverse reactions, I would suggest in addition to posting here to do the same. I was shocked at the small number of people listed in the studies (in the insert). I took statistics in graduate school and a realistic sample size should be at least 1,200 people with a +/- 3% margin of error to be meaningful. I am curious how the FDA approved this product with such a small sample size. There are more adverse reactions posted on this website alone, than mentioned in the drug manufacturers studies in their insert! Please forward your comments about adverse reactions to the FDA, in the hopes they will reevaluate Plenvu. Realistic studies with bigger sample sizes should be demanded from drug manufacturers before granting approval in the future. Also, the goal of a colonoscopy prep should be explained to patients before the procedure. I intuitively knew I had met the goal after the first dose but took the horrid 2nd dose as instructed.Read More Read Less

First time using anything like this. The drink was tolerable, doubt that any are a pleasure. Dr. gave me an A plus for for being cleaned out. I recommend this however my insurance didn't pay for the kit.

After reading all the terrible reviews I prepared myself for the worst. But this prep was not bad at all compared to others!! Previously I had used Suprep, which the taste was so awful I couldn't stop gagging and it took forever to get it down, lots of tears. Plenvu was painless in comparison. I took zofran a half hour before the first dose to avoid nausea. After preparing the mixture (powder packet and water), I marked the cup with a Sharpie so it was divided into six gulps. Every 5 minutes, I would take a bunch of big sips using a straw placed at the back of the tongue until I reached the next line. And chased it with lemon sorbet and sucked on a lollipop in between. It was done within 30 minutes easy peasy- the taste is by no means good but with the straw at the back of the tongue, you get through it, no gagging. I made sure to drink a ton of water in between doses (way more than the recommended 16 oz) as well as Gatorade to avoid dehydration. It worked quickly but painlessly, and after the second dose I was all cleaned out. Doc said the prep was super successful. Will be requesting Plenvu from now on! Use these tricks and don't listen to poor reviews, it is so much better than other preps.Read More Read Less

I was given this prescription to take the day prior to my first colonoscopy. I took it, exactly as directed and feel my bowel was cleansed after the first dose. However, when I took the second dose 6 hours later (9pm), within 90 minutes I vomited the entire mixture up, praying that I would still be able to have my colonoscopy. Luckily, all was well until I showed up for my appointment and my dehydration was so fierce (and I enjoy good health), that I had to be given fluids during procedure prep and vomited 3 times. Took an hour to get me rehydrated with IV fluids. Then my procedures was successful with no issues and a clean bill of health. So, though this oral bowel stimulant worked for me, I feel the 2nd dosage was too strong and caused seriou dehydration, and I had had plenty of fluids up until midnight. I would not take this medication again. Feeling so nauseous and sick due to dehydration caused my the medicine is scary and dangerous.Read More Read Less

This was by far the WORST preparation treatment I have ever used. I have Crohn's Disease so I get a colonoscopy every two years. I have used many different cleansing treatments. This was absolutely the worst. First of it is total overkill. Within a half hour of the first dose, I was totally cleaned out...but it didn't stop there. Every liquid I put in my mouth was immediately evacuated. They tell you to stay hydrated, how can you when the medication causes such a reaction? Then they have you take a second dose in the middle of the night. Forget about getting ANY sleep. As for the taste, a very secondary issue compared to the first, the initial dose is sickeningly sweet. The second dose not so bad. I would highly recommend AGAINST anyone using this bowel prep medication.Read More Read Less

I have a very hard time taking meds that have a horrible taste, but this was not as bad to me as the reviews seemed. I have had a colonoscopy in the past and drinking 64 oz of Gatorade mixed with Miralax was much worse and the amount is ridiculous. That same prep included 2 bottles of Magcitrate, so Plenvue was much easier. The taste isnâ??t great but what prep does taste good? I drank it through a straw and chased it with Diet Coke. It started working on me in about 20 minutes. I spent approximately one hour in and out of the bathroom and that was it. I slept very well and wasnâ??t getting up and down all night long like the last prep I had with the previous procedure. I had my 2nd Plenvue dose the next morning and it was just a repeat of the previous dose. I was pretty much cleaned out and finished running to the bathroom in about an hour. All in all, when I have to have my next Colonoscopy in ten years, if Iâ??m still alive I will choose the Plenvue prep if it is still available.Read More Read Less

My colonoscopy needs to be redone because this medication failed to empty my bowel, even though I took it correctly. I experienced severe abdominal cramps while taking the second dose, and vomited between the second dose and the procedure. I am not normally prone to nausea.

I’ve never eaten or drank something that made me gag and almost vomit. But this it it. It’s horrible taste. It’s consistency. I’ve gotta do the 2nd dose at 2 a.m. and don’t know how I’m gonna do it. If this is prescribed beg for something else!!

The salty taste was horrible. I kept the first for down but vomited twice trying to force down the second. It did work though. Next time I’ll try the Miralax with Gatorade and Biscadol approach. I’ll never use Plenvu again. Yuck.

Very easy to use, great taste considering prior treatments. The first treatment is Mango flavor and the second is Tropical. The only problem I have with this medication is that it is sweetened with Aspartame and I would rather see it sweetened with Stevia as that would make this unnatural process a little less unnatural.

I just tried to choke down this â??day old margarita with added salt waterâ?? . Iâ??d rather chug 4 buckets of Gatorade the old fashioned way. Really I donâ??t really care how this works because it has made me ill . The low volume intake needs some more work. I donâ??t know how Iâ??m going to do the second dose in the morning.
