I have suffered with RA for 27 years. I am currently 51. I have never had a day off from pain or experienced remission. The day Enbrel was FDA approved, I started the shots. Since then, I have tried (and failed) every single biologic from Remicaide to Xeljanz. I have had both wrists fused, one hand completely reconstructed, corneal melts, pleural effusion in both lungs, heart surgery to remove 2 l...

I just started taking this medication last week. I have been receiving infusions(Actemera) for over 2 years now. I was doing ok on the infusions but my Dr. felt I have plateaued on the infusion treatment and wanted me to improve more. I am hoping this will improve my present condition to a higher level of functioning. Time will tell

Rinvoq maybe good if we take the medication with some painkiller and sit at home do nothing. For a normal life it doesn't help.

Started on Aug. 14, 2020 by Aug. 24, 2020 started feeling pain in my abdomen , low back pain , great fatigue didn't want to get out of the bed. swelling both legs, ankles, feet and hands. The thing that had seemed to be a God send was now turning on me. I think because I have Fibromyalgia it makes me very sensitive to medicines because one of the issues one can have is IB Syndrome which I do have.

I am 20 years old and have started to take Rinvoq about a month ago. Ive have rheumatoid juvenile arthritis for 18 years now (since the age of 2) and have been taking methotrexate injections since. It was only recently that I was switched over to the pills. I have also been on Enbrel for 10 years. When I started to take Rinvoq, my doctor told me stop taking Enbrel and see how it goes. Currently, I am taking 20mg methotrexate every each with one pill of Rinvoq (15mg) everyday. So far, I have noticed that my pain and inflammation went down by a lot; However, my skin has been crazy. I always had cystic acne and have been on birth control for it, but with Rinvoq, I have never seen my skin so bad. Every single morning I wake up to see a new pimple on my face. It has gotten so bad I needed to see a dermatologist where he prescribed me Accutane (he gave me a low dose since there may be interaction with metx). I don't know if I will continue with this medication, but it has definitely ruined my skin.Read More Read Less

Been taking RINVOQ 2 months. Have noticed an improvement in my pain levels. Since starting this drug, my face and hair line have been breaking out in pimples that break and scab over. (Iâ??m 64 years old)

I have both rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. Also, I have been on methotrexate, enbrel, humaira, otezla, and now rinvoq. I started this medication about 4 months ago, and have had horrible headaches. I will say that in the beginning I noticed a tremendous amount of relief in my joints( mainly my back) however, the headaches and acne have been horrible. I have also developed some sort of bloating/swelling in my stomach that hurts from time to time, and feels as if I am â??fullâ? 24/7. I am having to see a Gastroenterologist now for potential tearing in my stomach due to this drug. If you have any kind of GI history or a history of migraines, definitely talk with your doctor. I hate that I am having to change drugs because of how much it helped the pain in my joints in the beginning. Read More Read Less

I am 45, got diagnosed with RA at 36. I have taken RINVOQ since January. It has been a breath of fresh air! I feel wonderful! I feel better than I have felt since before my diagnosis. I only feel a little achy on rainy days. Otherwise, I feel great!

This medication has been a life saver for me, I’m 36 and have had RA since I was 19. 5 reconstruction surgeries. Honestly this is the best I’ve felt in a very long time and I’m going on 4 months. Just paired with methotrexate and I’m feeling even better.

In the beginning renvoq51 gave me cystic acne on face and in my scalp. I am 52 years old. To antibiotics to help with acne it got better as time went by. Has helped with swelling in entire body but after 6 months I am getting recurrent yeast in fections, body bruising, my stomach SWELLED UP so much I can hardly eat, it's difficult to breath. I have stopped the meds and my stomach is starting to go down. Also I am gaining weight.

I've been on it a month and since then it has caused me to break out in horrific cystic acne everywhere. It's either messing with my birth control, hormones or both. I had stomach pain prior to taking this med but since taking it, it's intensified by far and rendered me incapacitated. I'm doubled over in pain all the time. It's much worse after I eat. I won't be continuing on this med.

Suffered from knee pain and knee effusion for the past two years with ZERO success in treating and managing symptoms. In January 2020 I was having my knee aspirated (drained) roughly every two weeks. My RA doctor introduced me to RINVOQ. My pain was gone within two days and I havenâ??t had fluid accumulation in my knee ever since. I am so thankful for this medication. If you are having problems with fluid accumulation or effusion â?? THIS WILL HELP. It magically reduces the immune systemâ??s inflammatory/fluid buildup response. Iâ??m not certain how this medication will fare during the COVID-19 outbreak â?? not sure if there is a protective factor or if itâ??s harmful to continue taking. Prior to the outbreak, we had two sick kids, one with influenza B and the other pneumonia. I had a mild fever for one night and zero other major symptoms or issues (just a mild cough). Iâ??m assuming it is safe to take and there seems to be no contraindications? My RA doctor would like me to continue taking it. Overall, I highly recommend this medication. THANK YOU AbbVie! I have been on it 3 months and I don't really see any improvement. I am still very stiff in the morning for at least an hour. I also have a constant upper respiratory thing going on, runny nose, cough, etc. So at this point even if it is helping a little bit I feel like crap everyday because of the side effects. I have an appointment with my doctor in a few weeks and it is time to explore other meds.

I was on Humira and it worked well but heard about Rinvoq and wanted to try it. I have been on it now for 6 weeks. Within the first week, the pain I would experience every morning before getting out of bed is completely gone. No swelling, no side effects except that I am hungrier. I attribute that to the fact that I am much more active than I have been in several years. I feel almost as good as I did before I was ever diagnosed with RA. So far this is a miracle drug for me.

only took for a little over 2 weeks...about 10 days in I think my pain level was better but then I started getting extremely fatigued...so much so that I spent the better part of 6 days sleeping..I decided to stop taking it..next day woke to a lot of pain..needed to take 8 mg of prednisone to take the edge off...started feeling better and not sleepy around the time I would've taken the Rinvoq..felt better rest of day..2nd day of not taking and I feel so much better...I don't know if there is residual help from this pill or how long it stays in body, but its not worth it for me...what's the point of no pain if you can't function due to fatigue...I haven't seen anyone else mention this side effect, but it couldn't be anything else in my case, because it's the only different/new thing added. I took Xeljanz a few years ago and it worked great for about 1.5 years, then just stopped...I was hoping this would work the same but apparently not for me. Read More Read Less

I have been on Rinvoq for four months. It is very convenient to take and I have not experienced any side effects. Unfortunately it is not working for me. My joints flared to the point that only 20mg of Prednisone would help. I have unsuccessfully tried DMARDs, biologics - everything from the oldest to the newest medications. I had so hoped this medication would work but alas it has not. My rheumatologist has asked me to give it a full six months before declaring it a failure.

I have been on infusions for over a year. The infusions worked, but taking time off work to have 5-hour infusions ever 6 weeks completely drained my vacation hours at work. I knew there had to be something else. I have previously tried plaquenil and Humira with no results. It has been 12 weeks since my last infusion and I've been taking Rinvoq for 6 weeks. I feel less stiff than when I did on infusions alone. I have no negative side effects. It's super convenient, since I take daily oral meds anyway. I. Am. Loving. This. Medication! Since I only have to take time off to visit the Rheumatologist every 3 months to renew my prescription, it saves me tons of time! I'm hoping my family and I can actually enjoy a vacation this next year since I wont have to use all of my vacation hours sitting at the infusion center! I'm so thankful this drug is available!
