I was on Nuvaring for 11 years. Due to insurance I had to use the generic or pay full price for Nuvaring. I ended up in the ER with an adverse reaction to this medication after only 2.5 weeks. My blood pressure was 166/114! Made up my mind that I will be tying my tubes. So sick of getting sick from these medications.

Easy to use and haven’t gotten pregnant, so I guess in that area it’s doing its job… other than that I’m not too pleased since switching from Nuva ring to this generic brand. Breaking out more than before, more cramping during my period, a bit moodier and nauseous daily. It’s been almost 6 months since switching and I would’ve thought the symptoms would’ve subsided by now. Only reasoned I switched is because I could get this brand mailed to my house and I wouldn’t have to go to the pharmacy every month like before. I’m switching back and dealing with monthly pharmacy trips to get rid of these symptoms.Read More Read Less

This EluRyng is a nightmare! I’m getting headaches, feel bloated all the time, gaining weight, and my period comes late. This ring is not good at all. There’s so many bad reviews and needs to be taken off the shelves!!!

I was on Nuvaring for years with no problem. Then it switch due to insurance coverage. This generic brand won't stay in place and it breaks. I've had 3 break. Each one has broken since I started using Eluryng. I will no longer use this brand.

I used the brand name Nuvaring from the age of 18 until 30 when I lost my insurance and was told it would be $500 for a 3 month supply. Never once had a side effect! I wasn’t sexually active and was unemployed so I stayed off birth control for two years. Finally I saw there was a generic available! Being put on disability, I relied on GoodRx, the generic ring came to $50. Day ONE…..immediate cramping! I felt like I was on my period?? Day two…nausea and bloating. Day 3….why am I crying and having anxiety attacks??? Day 4 my boyfriend comes over and I have no sex drive!! My cramps are killing me, the nausea is becoming regular. I made it to ONE WEEK…. All I wanted to do was sleep….got to the point of almost vomiting, my face breaking out, mood swings galore, I could not take it anymore I took it out and threw it out!!!! It is the next day now and I am no longer nauseated. The cramping has gone down. I cannot believe what a nightmare this company has created! These side effects are real. I used protection as well because I know it takes awhile for birth control to actual take effect….so this is NOT just me!! PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING Read More Read Less

BEWARE! EluRyng has different side effects than NuvaRing. I was automatically switched to EluRyng without my doctor or pharmacy warning me of this. The bioequivalence requirements are complicated, but it's important to know that generics are not required to be 100% the same in every way. I've taken the Prasco generic, Etonogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol Vaginal Ring, without any issues, but about 2 months into taking EluRyng, I realized that my severe migraines and horrible cystic acne were being caused by this generic. At 32 years old, I was very confused as to why I was getting such bad acne all of a sudden. It was painful and my face looked horrible. I've had headaches the majority of my life, but I was getting migraines so bad that I sought out prescription treatment, only to realize EluRyng is likely the culprit. It's also important to note, I had breakthrough bleeding one week before I was due to take the ring out BOTH months I was using EluRyng. I never had this happen with NuvaRing or Prasco. I understand that everyone's experiences are different with generics and this review is not meant to scare those away from EluRyng, but to warn those who may want to avoid the possible side effects. If you also experienced these or similar symptoms, I encourage you to file a MedWatch Online Voluntary Report with the FDA. EluRyng is very new to the market. I am angry that my doctor did not better discuss this, give me warning of the different symptoms, or make the connection that my migraines and acne could be caused by EluRyng. Everyone deserves to know this and have a choice to switch to a generic or not. I'd much rather take NuvaRing over any generic, but like so many others, my insurance will no longer cover the original! Let's speak up and demand changes for the sake of our health.Read More Read Less

I was on NuvaRing for 6 years and NEVER had an issue with ANYTHING. I got off BC for almost a year to give my body a break and when I decided to begin using it again I noticed Eluryng was what I was being prescribed. I've been using it now for the past 3 months and I've slowly come to realize that it is not working for me. 1st month - Began to notice discomfort (like I was developing an infection) and period was about 4 days late. 2nd month - Began to notice very heavy discharge with odor immediately after my period. I wrote it off as a yeast infection thinking it'd pass with time being that I was using the different BC ring. I've never had a history of reoccurring yeast infections or any sort of similar issues. I've only experienced 1 horrible yeast infection in my life. (27 yrs old) 3rd month - The discharge seems to be getting worse, heavier, and has an unpleasant odor. I was fine during my period but the day after I inserted the new ring, the discharge came back along with inflammation. I feel heavy amounts of discharge daily and it feels like I'm on my period all the time. The discharge is yellowy/green. I thought maybe it was just my body reacting differently to BC after being off of it for 10 months and also possibly changes that come with age. But I feel reading these reviews has definitely helped me realize it's not me, it's the BC. Took me awhile to realize it and connect the dots because I know all BC comes with side effects, I've tried different ones over the years. Per my personal experience, Nexplanon (arm implant) has been the worst as far as side effects go. But this is quickly becoming a close 2nd. I had fallen in love with NuvaRing because I never experienced any issues or complications after years of use. I assumed EluRyng was no different, but my body is telling me otherwise. I'll be scheduling a visit with my doctor to see if I can return to NuvaRing, and if not, explore the options I have left that I haven't tried..Read More Read Less

Was on nuvaring for many years which helped to eliminate severe menstrual cramping and mood swings. Never had breakthrough bleeding and never had discomfort caused by the ring. This EluRyng is trash. I bled for 3 weeks straight, gained weight, have had terrible depression, migraines, breakouts around and under my chin (only ever had this when pregnant), and the ring always came out of place which was painful. This EluRyng is a terrible product. Nuvaring is no longer an option (hundreds of dollars for one ring) and that is devastating- I want my life back.Read More Read Less

Switched from pill sonit is very nice to know i dont have to remember it every day... i have been on it for about 4 months and i was very hungry the first month but other than that no makor changes. HOWEVER, in the four months I’ve had it, 3 have broken while inside... i am beyond frustrated, they seem to break at the point where they are originally connected.

I was on the nuvaring for 8 years. Then I started getting the eluryng in March. This is the absolute WORST!! I gained 26lbs, my breastâ??s are tender, my sex drive plummeted, the first few weeks I was crying for no reason. Besides that the ring is uncomfortable, it doesnâ??t stay in place and your partner can feel it or itâ??ll sometimes pop out of place during inter course. Needless to say Iâ??m off it. It was the worst thing that Iâ??ve ever taken for my body.

DO NOT USE! My insurance forced me to switch to this generic of Nuva Ring. With in a few weeks, I had cramps, extreme hunger, and other symptoms and was diagnosed with uterine cysts. I stayed on EluRyng thinking my pain was caused by the cysts, but at my follow up appointment, the cyst was gone and I still had pain. Cramps and nausea were pretty much constant. Periods were strange. One month it would be very light, hardly a period at all. The next month would be very heavy and gross.EluRyng also seemed to give me insomnia. The side effects definitely mimicked pregnancy and I tested for pregnancy multiple times during my time on EluRyng. I was not pregnant, so I guess it worked. I took it out and was feeling better within hours. Read More Read Less

After 16 years on the Nuva Ring I was changed by my insurance company to the Elu Ring. Month 1 spotting through the month. Month 2 I had a 17 day period. Month 3 Extreme ovulation pain and another 14 day period. I believe this ring medication is defective. With the support of my Dr. I filed with my insurance company to use the brand name only and it was approved.

I was on Nuvaring for a year and after switching to the Eluryng for a couple months, I have experienced a lot of vaginal discomfort and painful urination. To me it’s not worth it and I will be switching back to the Nuvaring, even if it will cost more.

Horrible Crying Spells,Depression, Suicidal Thoughts and Mood Swings. This Ring is MUCH THICKER and thus painful to have in then Nuva. Had some spotting from what seemed like ridges aroind circumfrence of ring. My partner even noticed it due to its thickness! How Terribly Embarrassing!!! Took 5 days after removing to even get my period. I decided not to put in another and had a Second Week of Bleeding. Beware!! Do NOT Recommend!! Its worth it to just pay $60 out of pocket per month then put up with this failure of a drug!Read More Read Less

I was switched to generic and thought nothing of it. Then all of a sudden I am an emotional wreck. I've struggled with anxiety for years and had it under control. All of a sudden I can't control my emotions and will cry at the most random things and find that I am super sensitive. I changed my anxiety meds numerous times since I never thought this generic ring could be causing the shift in my emotions. After reading so many reviews of how others had the same experience now I know it's from this. It is also more difficult to put in place then the name brand. I will be seeing if I can change back to the name brand. Read More Read Less

I was changed to this generic version after being on the Nuvaring for over 16 years and it has been a nightmare. Thereâ??s an odd smell to it. Additionally, Iâ??ve never broken out more in my life. The cramps are so bad I lay in bed with a heating pad for hours. This is absolutely terrible and no one should use this generic version.
