Have been taking Nature-Throid for 8 months and have seen a big difference. My T3 & T4 are normal but my TSH is low (1 to 1.6) In the last 2 months I have experienced low body temperature that ranges from 96.5 to 97.8. I haven't gotten the correct dose established. Still working with doctor to find the right dose.

After a hypothyroid diagnosis nearly 10 years ago, I was prescribed Synthroid. My levels were normal after that, but I never felt good, still tired and such and the worst, my hair started falling out about 6 to 12 months ago. 2 months ago, I switched, on my natropathic doctor's recommendation, to Naturethroid. OMG I have never felt better, the hair loss has slowed as well. Very happy with the Naturethroid!

In the 6 months I have been on Nature-Throid, I have seen my dry skin, brittle nails, constipation and hair loss reversed. I had bald spots on the back of my head, long swaths of hair loss over my ears and thinning hair at my temples and at the crown of my head. Now I have short healthy hair in all those areas! I have more energy. Armour Thyroid used to work for me, but I could no longer get it; it was being manufactured for Armour by Acelis. In April, my doctor noticed a significant drop in my T4 and T3 readings and was upset to learn that there was a change of manufacturer. He was also distressed to see my health suffering in the year leading up to the blood test. Her prescribed Nature-Throid and blood tests given after 3 months showed T levels in the normal range. The only down-side to Nature-Throid is ease of use. I need to take the medicine on an empty stomach twice a day. I must avoid eating for three hours before taking the medicine and eat no food for one hour after taking the medicine. Everyone needs to carefully read the paperwork that comes with Nature-Throid or any thyroid medication because effectiveness can be diminished by taking certain foods, beverages, nutritional supplements and other medications near the time that you take the medicine. I have been treated for hypothyroidism for more than 10 years. At first I had some relief with Synthroid (had an allergic reaction to the generic versions when they first came on the market), but Synthroid (synthetic thyroid) did not achieve as much for me as the natural thyroid drugs like Nature-Throid. Unfortunately Medicare drug plans do not cover Nature-Throid (a style of medicine made from pig thyroid and used for more than 100 years) does not have the necessary paperwork on file with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. I was on 100 mcg of Synthroid for over a year, and although my TSH levels were spot-on, I still suffered from several symptoms of hypothyroidism. The main thing Synthroid could not level out, for me, was the chronic fatigue. It was incredibly frustrating, and every day I would wake up tired. Then, when nighttime rolled around, I had the most difficult time falling asleep and staying asleep. The chronic fatigue, of course, led to other problems, too—especially depression. While on Synthroid, I also tried several lifestyle changes to try to increase the effectiveness of my medicine: eliminating caffeine, soy, and most gluten from my diet, as well as continued regular exercise. Yet the symptoms prevailed. When I switched to Nature-Throid, my TSH level did increase slightly after a month’s use, but it’s not all about the numbers; I FEEL ten times better. I no longer wake up feeling like I never slept. It did take about 3 weeks after the switch for the medication’s benefits to fully kick in. I, personally, think that the negative reviewers on here were too impatient to wait on the positive results of switching to Nature-Throid. Furthermore, the comments about the expense of Nature-Throid are entirely wrong. I have self-funded health care (a fancy way of me saying that I don’t have insurance, haha), and I pay for it out-of-pocket. With a coupon from GoodRX, I pay just under $7 for the medication. The $3 increase per month (from the price of Synthroid) was totally worth it. I highly recommend talking to your doctor about this switch and seeing if it’s right for you. Remember: everyone is different, and their bodies will react differently to different drugs. Don’t just believe everything you read on here, do some research, and figure out what is best for YOU. Started on Synthroid, but when I switched I felt a world of difference!! Only took away a star from ease of use because all of my other medications mean I have to wake up at 5:30 AM to take my NT- not fun, but at least it's just a little pill to swallow!

My dad had been on thyroid forever and that's one indication. My shower was often completely clogged with my hair, I would get so weak I could barely stand up and had heart palpitations for a year, day and night plus I had to take this years ago. Now: palpitations GONE suddenly, no shower clogs, sleep better, normal energy for a senior, not depressed anymore and my hair is shiny again. Skin on legs not as dry either. Taking lowest dose for 2 weeks and have lost 2 pounds. Husband had neck lump; they wanted to REMOVE HIS THYROID without saying it was cancer! Now his neck lump is gone after a week!! Right after having my thyroid removed I was put on Synthroid. I had horrible side effects from it including terrible pain in all my joints. I could barely get out of bed and the doctors insisted I had rhumetoid arthritis. Long story short, I found a dr. that prescribed me Nature-Throid and I couldn't be happier! I feel GREAT! No more joint pain or other nasty side effects like I had from Synthroid. This is truly a wonder drug. So many doctors that I went to completely discouraged me from taking any natural thryoid med and INSISTED that synthetic T4 only meds are the best way to regulate TSH. WRONG! I can't say it enough how wonderful I feel. Good luck to anyone out there that has had thyroid cancer. Keep searching for docs that will cooperate with you and who will listen to your symptoms and complaints. It's your body and you have to find the drug that works best for you.Read More Read Less

What a re-birth! I have been on it for 6 weeks and I could not be happier! My hair was beyond falling, it was raining, my energy level was as low as you can get and still be able to somewhat function. I swear there is some kind of sedative in it as I have never been calmer in my life - very uncharacteristic - but I am not complaining. I am surprised that it could be the cause of my mild insomia, but compared to my barely functioning self a few months ago, its a small price to pay. I hope all keeps going good and I can eventually see some weight loss. I have gained 30lbs in the past 2yrs and loosing that would be awesome since it would mean my BMI is back to normal. So far so goos and I am loving it.Read More Read Less

WOW...If you are feeling sluggish, hair is falling out, feeling depressed, weight gain with no end in sight, and a host of other symptoms you may feel that you have never felt before thyroid medication, then Nature-Throid just may be what you are searching for. I have personally tried Synthroid for many years with doctors insisting this is the right medication for me, and to basically ignore these symptoms I was having. I was on Cytomel, and was finally able to convince a new doctor to prescribe me Armour Thyroid. This worked....UNTIL it was on a neverending backorder and suddenly the formula was changed...Getting Nature_throid changed my life. I have energy like before, weight has come off, no longer depressed, hair doesn't fall out, and many of the mysterious pains have gone away. One thing, when I was on Synthroid, my pharmacy changed me to generic, and I had a cough for 2 months straight before I even realized that I was on generic. I switched back to regular, and the cough went away, but all the other symptoms remained. If you have had no luck with anything, please give Nature-Thorid a chance. This may be YOUR answer too! Good luck!Read More Read Less

My daughter has been taking Levoxyl the past few years and didn't help at all. It has been almost 1 year that now she is on Nature throid, she is feeling great and so happy, and lost almost 10 lbs. This is the best medicine ever. Thank you.

Synthroid made me lethargic and depressed and my hair kept falling out. Since I've been on Nature-Throid, I feel normal again. I have energy back, depression is gone, my hair loss has stopped. I'm so happy my doctor put me on this drug. My blood tests show that it is helping my thyroid better than synthroid ever did. I will never go back to synthroid.

I've taken Nature Thyroid for 2 full months. I've only had mild increase in my energy level. I have headaches, joint pain and bloating/full feeling with this medication, but the worst symptom is that it keeps me from sleeping all night. I'm wake 50 times a night.
