I have not experienced any further symptoms of AF since starting Tikosyn. What I have experienced is difficulty getting certain other medical procedures completed because of the medication interaction problems. Dental procedures requiring local anesthetics are not possible since I can not use any of the "cains". Treatments for skin problems that might have steroids in them can not be used as st...

Tikosyn has been effective for two years for my chronic A-Fib. A troublesome side effect is the fatigue and brain fog. When I asked my cardiologist about this, he said this was the best solution for my A-Fib, but he was worried about my "brain." Does long term use of Tikosyn cause Dementia or Alzhimers?

I was admitted to the hospital for 4 days and converted 5 hours after the first dose. I have had a few breakthroughs this past month that I have been on the Tikosyn. The longer I take it, the better I feel. I have gotten my life back. I am not short of breath, I can go up the steps in my home, able to go outside...even in the cold weather. When I have afib, it consumes me; scares me, makes me depressed, miserable, short of breath, unable to enjoy life. I have had no side effects so far. I am afraid of long term side effects and often wonder how long the Tikosyn will work. I am 63 y/o and I realize that if the Tikosyn fails I will request an ablation. I just cannot live a full live with afib. I understand, from what I have read, that some people are in afib and are not even aware of it...in my case, it consumes me and makes me feel horrible...it is the most awful, sickening feeling to be in afib..in my case. I am also concerned about the cost of Tikosyn when I go on Medicare late next year. For right now, though, I am taking a day at a time and enjoying every minute of normal sinus rhythm. Tikosyn has been a wonder drug for me. My husband is so happy for me too. I hope the Tikosyn helps my heart as it became enlarged due to persistent afib. I did not realize how devastating afib can be, because so many doctors just brush it off. I take 25 mg of Metapropol Tartate and Eliquis too. Read More Read Less

I have been on Tikosyn for over 3 years and has worked wonderful with no side effects. However, I am not out of rhythm and have to go for cardio version. I hope this is not the end of it for this drug, it has work excellent till now.

In persistent Afib for 11 months before receiving Tikosyn. Take in combination with metoprolol succinate (25 mg twice a day). Converted on third dose and now only experience episodes 5% of the time. All episodes self-terminate within 8-21 hours. Some irritating but tolerable side effects with this combination (dry mouth, dry eyes and fatigue unless I keep active). Have had dental procedures without problem - although the combination of Novocaine with epinephrine did send me into one paroxysmal episode. When needed, was able to identify antibiotic that is acceptable for combination with Tikosyn.Read More Read Less

Scar tissue after open heart surgery caused my atrial flutters. Several other medications didn't work or lowered my blood pressure making me lightheaded. Had two ablations that were not successful. Tikosyn at .5 mg has put and kept my heart in rhythm for 7 months. I only feel occasional palpitations. I have my energy back and no longer feel out of breath when climbing steps or carrying items or walking uphill. I feel years younger!

Cardioverted then went on Multaq but had a skin reaction. Shifted to Tikosyn in hospital 2 years ago. I have a pacemaker for a different problem but it tells my Docs that I only have very short, minutes, bouts of afib. 71 y/o

I have been taking this for 4 months now and although I still occasionally have A fib, I'm not having severe prolonged a fib and when I do it lasts just a few hours instead of all day or all night. It hasn't totally gotten rid of my A fib. I also have a pacemaker/defibulator that paces me.

I am 62 and was discovered with A-Fib went I went in for another procedure. I had a Cardioversion at that time but the A-Fib returned several months later. I had a 2nd Cardioversion 2 months ago and was then put on Tikosyn. I have not noticed any side effects and I am still in normal sinus rhythm. Now I am wondering if I have to take Tikosyn the rest of my life?

Since taking Tikosyn 250mg 2 times a day, my blood appears thinner. A slight cut causes the blood to run similar to water. Also now removing a bandage causes large areas of red spots like seen on people on blood thinners.

A-Fibs were controlled, but regular bouts of malaria-like symptoms (102 fever, severe body-shaking chills) every three months baffled ma and my doctors until I was moved to another drug. Then I realized the connection! However, otherwise, it was quite effective.

first afib was 2008, cardioversion worked, no meds. second afib was 2013. given RX for Cordarone but WebMD research scared me. went to Cleveland Clinic, switched cardiologists, went on Tikosyn in hospital, cardio versioned successfully on first thump, and still in normal sinus rhythm 10 months later. expensive but alternatives are not good either. thanks CCF and my cardiologists.

Five years with persistent AFib. Three ablations, multiple cardioversions, Multac, Rhymol, Toprol, and nothing worked for more than a few days. Tikosyn converted me to NSR in 8 hours. I have been on it now for a month. This is a miracle drug for me. I feel 10 years younger with no side effects. If you are fighting AFib, give this a try.

been on Tikosyn for almost a month now. No issues. I have been able to maintain Crossfit and a healthy lifestyle. I have less 'flips' in my chest and it seems to allow me to maintain a workout heart rate- and then return to normal rhythms (unlike beta blockers). I don't find the weight gain as a issue... I have not experienced any- but then I remain active and eat healthy.

after the 2nd doses I felt much better and the fluttering stopped. I started this medication in the hospital at 500 mg per day combined with 2 low doses of 81 mg Bayer asperine per day. Up to now it works very well for me.

Started Tikosyn 2 mo ago, find it's worked great for Afib but I get lots of side effects. Insomnia, anxiety and depression along with vomiting trouble breathing and diarrhea. The medication is difficult to get and not many doctors are certified to prescribe it.

I tried the operation, electrial shock, and all kinds of different pills. Well now 13 months from starting this drug and it is still working great.
