I have Asthma and was coughing almost non-stop. My Doctor added Qvar along with my regular Proventil Inh. and in one week I was 88% back to normal on Peak flow. Yes I still have bad days but QVAR is working for me. You must use it daily and not miss any doses. Also wash out your mouth after each use. Your voice sounds may change somewhat but it's the breathing and life that count, make the most of...

it seems like it does help with the inflamation of the lungs, i think it might be contributeing to my heartburn, i do have a burning sensation in my throat, horse voice, loss of taste and pressure on my throat, like somethings stuck in there. i did stop for a few days but could tell i was getting weezey so i started up again. thats when it seems my heartburn is getting worse. i don't know. ive' been on qvqr 80mcg 1 puff twice a day for 6 months. i did cut my self down to basicaly 1 puff a day. but i'm thinking i should maybe go back to my two puffs daily one in morning one at night. i guess i'm on this for another 6 months, evan though my dr says my lungs sound clear. lets see what the summer months hold. heat and humidity does contribute to your breathing problemsRead More Read Less

Some days, this works really well; others, I feel exactly like I did before I started taking it. On particularly humid or pollen-heavy days, I don't feel like I can breathe at all.

I have been forced to take QVAR because my insurance company refuses to cover the one medication that worked best Advair 250/50. I have an attack after every use, and then difficulties breathing throughout the rest of the day. My chest is tight and feel like my twenty pound son is sitting on my throat all day. Turns out it interacts with my Fludrocortisone acetate that I have to take daily. I've been having bad stomach pain and have been losing massive amounts of hair. Getting into my doctor is...Lets just go with difficult as he's only in three days a week, and is very popular in this area. I'm on QVAR 80 mcg 2 puffs/2 times daily. I don't rinse my mouth out right away because I then proceed to take my morning pills, then my night pills at night. And I've never been prone to thrush from all the years I was on Advair. I WANT MY ADVAIR BACK. That worked where as Qvar has yet to show signs of helping.Read More Read Less

Broke out all over whan given this. Dont know why it was prescribed to begin with, never had any breathing problems, until after this. Rinse mouth after use and watch for side effects.

Prescribed along with Albuterol inhaler for severe bronchitis. Albuterol interfered with my ability to rest, but the Qvar made it easy to breathe again while the antibiotics did their job.

Qvar is quite effective, but my insurance company does not cover it as it has no generic equivilant. So I pay out $87.00 every month along with $100/month for Singlair.

I was prescribed Qvar inhaler in early May for asthmatic bronchitis to use 2 puffs/twice a day for 4 weeks. I noticed sloughing of my oral muscosa. I had shortness of breath over the coming months. By the first of September I had internal bleeding...was found to be severely anemic due to gastric ulcers. Although some lifestyle factors may have contributed to the ulcers, I have since learned that glucocortoid medications can cause ulcer formation.

I have been using Qvar for 2yrs now. For the most part it has been really good for me. My doctor has me use it every morning with Allerga D and every night before bed with with Singulair. I rarely have any probs unless I have a cold coming on. Doc recommended that after taking the Qvar that I rinse my mouth and gargle. Spit that water out. Then drink a little water and brush my teeth. I have never gotten thrush as others have talked about. Doc says that your body can get used to Qvar over time and it becomes less effective. So Symbicort is the next logical step. Advair was terrible for me...don't advise that at all.Read More Read Less

I have been on Qvar for about 1 1/2 months . I just recently noticed that I have thrush. I do not get the benefit from this and Symbicort like I did when taking Advair HFA.

Have been on Qvar for 2 1/2 weeks... Only see little improvement in my breathing. Tried two other steroid type inhalers had side effects with both after 3-5 days. Now with Qvar getting Red forearms, muscle/joint stiffness/pain - Knees, ankles, calfs, forearms, teeth and hips. Still having trouble breathing - only on 40 mg too?

Drug co. says each. inhaler contains 100 puffs..however, I am only realizing about 30-34. Yes...the raspy/Julie London voice and I can no longer sing, but it is a LOT better than Advair, which caused terrible anxiety.I'd like to hear about the "puff #'s from other users Thanks Nan
