I really liked this medicene when I was first put on it. But now Im dealing with severe bone deteration and my teeth are literally breaking off. It controls asthma very well but the side effects are not worth it. If you must take this have your Dr. put you on one of the osteoperosis drugs to keep your bones strong(if you have heart problems then at least take extra calcium) I was not told any of t...

Only used it 8 times in 3 weeks. Started to get weakness in limbs, insomnia, achy muscles, tremors, low back pain, headaches, and still coughing. Initially, it worked, the first few times. But, I could tell that each time I used it, my muscles would hurt in my legs and arms- especially with the last time. I called the urgent care and was instructed to call my doctor today and that once I quit, the effects should go away. My last dose was 2 days ago. I'm a little better. After reading others who have taken this for years, I've decided to stop after 8 inhales. I'll find another herbal way to deal with my bronchial spasm. Read More Read Less

My husband has had emphysema for 30+ years and was using Spiriva only - as well as a rescue puffer as needed. He had a cold and ended up going to the doctor. We asked about an extra inhaler for when he has colds. He suggested Advair - either as a regular helping puffer or just as needed. Immediately, he got massive relief. He now takes Spiriva in the morning and a puff of Advair in the evening. His breathing is better today than it has been for at least 5 years. And he hasn't needed his rescue inhaler since!. It's like a miracle! JuneRead More Read Less

I've had asthma for as long as I can remember. I'm 38. Using albuterol 6-10 times a day for probably 25 years. Finally had a doctor suggested Advair, and within a couple weeks the daily albuterol use came to an end. I started on the 500 but have slowly dropped over the years to the lowest dose, 100/50. After 25 years of never leaving the house without my inhaler, I now almost forget that I ever needed it. Advair has been a miracle drug for me. I've been on it for nearly 10 years now with no known side effects.Read More Read Less

I have severe asthma and have been being treated with Adwair 100 then 250 then 500 mcg. First of all it is a breath activated medicine. If you have no breath how are you supposed to get this medicine in your airway? It has been TOTALLY useless to me and my doctor switched Me to Dulera Aerasol and I am doing MUCH better. I just cannot reccomend this med!

I took this medication for only five days. I stopped taking it because I continued having sinus problems. Symbicort seared my sinus so much that I had the most serious headache I've ever had. I don't get headaches. My internist and pharmacist said they had never heard of these side effects before so in their minds they don't exist. I'm so glad I found WebMD to confirm my symptoms. My sinuses are hurting again; I've had feelings like a zombie and others described in this site. I stopped taking five days ago and am beginning to feel my real self again. Read More Read Less

The Advair Diskus 250/50 definitely helped me breathe when my airways suddenly swelled nearly shut, but I developed muscle pain in the posterior seratus muscle and my left arm feels like I constantly have tennis elbow, making it difficult for me to even pick up a carton of milk. Since I've never had muscle pain in either of these areas, I researched and found it was most likely related to this med and weaned myself off it. Problem is, even now, I can only gain temporary relief. The muscle pain has remained even though I've stopped the med. The only thing it has done is lessened. I've read runner's boards and seen small studies of patients on Advair. Muslce pain, from moderate to severe, is so common (as much as 90%) of women taking it, I do not understand why it is still prescribed. This is not a rare drug effect. It's rarer only in men. It's a very common drug effect in women. Doctors should be better informed of this, patients should be told up front, and more care should be taken in prescribing this drug, if it should be prescribed at all.Read More Read Less

This is the only prescription that has managed my asthma in my entire life (I am 56 years old). My RX provider, Metco/Express Scripts just took this off the formulary. Big mistake. I started their replacement (Symbicort) 45 days ago and have been ill for around 45 days. I do not believe there is a good replacement. Insurance companies like Anthem should look at doing away with Medco if they are limiting prescription options to their members. I will not be using my Medco insurance after this issue. Advair costs $300 without insurance - I a make ok money - but, $300 per month does hurt my budget. Make to much to get help from GlaxoSmithKline. Bad decision - give me a vote somewhere!Read More Read Less

This medication caused deterioration in my teeth over the course of the 4 1/2 years I was taking it. I have had 19 cavities filled and after reading the advair reviews listing similar side effects on Web MD, I withdrew from the medication. In addition to the tooth decay, I was chronically exhausted, awakened with severe leg cramps, and had debilitating muscle pain. Since withdrawing from this medication, all of those symptoms are gone and my teeth are recovering. Both my Internist and Dentist were unaware that this medication could cause these horrible side effects. I feel so much better now and can breathe fine without Advair, although I occasionally use the Ventolin Albuterol Inhaler.Read More Read Less

I started using Advair in 2009. It works great keeping my asthma under control but the side effects are bad! I was 122 pounds when I first started Advair, now I am 170 pounds. I eat right, no sugar, no white flour products...bread, rice ect. I have a itchy rash on my left calf that with very dry skin that I can not get rid of, my joints are stiff, especially in my hand and fingers. My eyesight is worse and now my chest is congested, like I have mucus build-up. I am going to stop using Advair. Read More Read Less

I am taking 500/50 twice a day. My voice is hoarse all the time. A lung doctor said it is a "Advair". voice. People should always use mouth wash or brush their teeth after using or you can get thrush which is painful in our mouth and throat.

I'm 43 and have been an asthma and allergy sufferer since childhood. At first, Advair was a miracle drug and my rescue inhaler was almost never needed. Now, 4, maybe 5 years later, I'm having a horrible time with throat irritation and am starting to experience sporadic hoarseness. My throat is not sore, but constantly feels like it has phlegm that needs to be cleared and my voice will just vanish mid-sentence late in the day. I've also experienced late night leg & foot cramps but did not realize that Advair could be instigating those as well. What's more, it is not controlling my asthma as well as it did in the beginning. I am going to discontinue use and see my doctor about alternatives. Read More Read Less
