I really liked this medicene when I was first put on it. But now Im dealing with severe bone deteration and my teeth are literally breaking off. It controls asthma very well but the side effects are not worth it. If you must take this have your Dr. put you on one of the osteoperosis drugs to keep your bones strong(if you have heart problems then at least take extra calcium) I was not told any of t...

I'm 43 and just diagnosed with reactive airway disease (asthma.) I actually visited the doc for help recovering my vocal cords after an upper respiratory illness--I'm supposed to sing this Sat. and Sunday. She assessed the illness was long gone but my lungs were still reacting and prescribed me the Discuss (150)... I was amazed--how long have I been breathing on half a lung??? Within a day half my vocal range was back. In two days, my full soprano range had returned and it's so good to have full lung capacity! The intention for me is to use the Discuss anytime I start getting a cold or such, rather than full time as this is the worst of the triggers and when it comes to smoke or fragrances, I prefer physical avoidance over medicating myself constantly. I'm not fond of the powdery inhale, but the results is worth it. I cough excessively for about 30 minutes after I take it, but it's predictable and I just plan for it.Read More Read Less

I too agree that it is expensive, but as I have been on steroids much of my life, I wanted to prevent trouble from starting. FYI- Advair has $50 coupons if you check their website or your pharmacy. I find it easy to use, it counts your doses and has a reasonably OK taste. I did start to have sever dizziness at night so am checking into this. I also Spiriva once a day due to severe lung disease- Bronchiectasis and though that is very expensive, really seems to help prevent hospitalization and sever attacks on my system.Read More Read Less

I don't know about this one, I've only been on it for less than 2 weeks, but I have to clear my throat constantly, have a sore throat and I get extremely tired hours after taking it. I take 250/50, 80mcg of Qvar and Spiriva. Never had asthma until now and was very active til a month ago,now I can't do anything. As a matter of fact earlier this year doctors said I didn't have asthma, now 5 months later I do? See a pulm. today to see if I can get off this. Was also on Prednisone 4 different times to only have the symptoms (wheeze, cough and shortness of breath) come back either 2 weeks or 3 days after stopping. Prednisone has dire after effects on the body. I'll report back on the Advair later.Read More Read Less

I vas diagnosed with asthma and given Advair to help control the need for my rescue inhaler. Within 3 days my lungs were inflamed and irritated. I had to stop immediately and begin steroids and antibiotics to clear up my lungs. 8 weeks later I am still dealing with the effects of Advair. Cannot take that again.

I use Advair diskus daily. It has stopped my wheezing and I don't have to use my rescue inhaler but once every 2 months in warm weather. I don't experience any side effects but the medicine is expensive

Omg! I suffer from migraines daily and this medicine caused my head to hurt worser with throbbing ear pain. I could barely open my eyes, it didn't matter if I was in a dark room. My teeth and jaws ached. I felt like I was having a heart attack. My heart felt like it was pounding through my chest. I stayed nauseated and could not eat. I had a persistent dry cough. I could barely get out of bed. I was so weak, which is not normal for me. I could not do any exercises not even yoga.

My daughter was prescribed advair after her pulmicort stopped working. She was at a normal healthy weight at 8 years old, but now at 9 this medication has caused her to be extremly over weight in just a year. She gets constant headaches is moody irritable and has no energy. The medication did help her wheezing and coughing but now I am worried about how the weight gain is going to effect her physically and emotionally. She has been switched to Asmanex waiting to see with her new eating and exercise routine will work with this new medication.Read More Read Less

I've been on Advair Diskus ever since I was first diagnosed with severe Emphysema/COPD. I use it twice a day, along with 1x/day Spiriva. The Advair has worked very well for me. I'm upset, though, because my insurance company has just changed Advair's status, to now be on their "highest-price" list. As a result, I have to switch to something else, and I don't like what I've been reading about either Dulera or Symbicort (the alternatives my doctor has talked to me about.) Advair was great!
