this medication worked very well. I did not have any of the sexual side effects. Downside: the cost is about $65 a month and is not covered by insurance.

At 20, rogain wasnt slowing it down enough. At the start of propecia i lost hair, but it regrew back fuller than every. I had really bad sexual side effects. So there was no point in taking it anymore. Luckily my sex drive returned. I have talk to 2 others who have taken it, around my age. Both had same problem.

I have been taking propecia for about 2 years now. in my mid 30's my kids and co-workers were really starting to notice my hair was becoming VERY thin on top. it seemed somehow to always to come up into conversation, and more and more so... it did not bother me, not too much. i just didn't want that to become my distinguishing feature...I finally went to the doc and he gave me a script for three months of propecia. it's about $65 at cost-co. I use this and the foam rogaine every night or so. with the propecia by itself i saw some improvement...more coverage, less scalp within about 7 or 8 months or so...and when i went with the rogaine once a day i saw even greater improvement; combined i saw much more coverage and much less scalp peeking through. i can honestly say my becoming "bald" has not come up into conversation for a long time. even my kids, my oh, so, brutally honest kids have not felt the need to make my hair a topic of discussion in a long time. i think they forgot i was going bald. i also use nizoral 2% shampoo because of what has been written on it. (Wikipedia has a good piece about its benefits on their site) i am still thin on top but it is much better that it was... more importantly it stopped the process and the rate that my hair was falling out. i can only imagine how different i would look now if i did not start taking the things listed above. do i need them all? no, probably not. but i think each has helped at least some. i stopped using rogaine for a few months and then noticed my hair falling out again and looking thinner than it was. it took a few months of rogaine to bring it back to where it was. is all this expensive? it's all perspective. it's all about 80 bucks a month. i know a lot of folks who spend that on coffee or beer or cigarettes each month. if i were to calculate the cost of my wife's make-up and shampoo's and conditioners and nail polish and creams it would be far more than $80. us guys gotta spend a little to look good 2.Read More Read Less

I did have two side effects taking this drug for the last three years. I had a marked decrease in sexual desire and also significantly less semen durning ejaculation .I consider these two side effects very significant . The drug does work as far as hair growth . This drug is very expensive because most insurance companies won't cover it .
