I had a lot of problems with ortho tri-cyclin lo. The most troublesome being severe dizziness and constant nausea. These symptoms were so intense the first week of taking the pill, I thought I obtained a virus or disease. After three months of no birth control and not getting my period, my gynocoligest gave me a trial pack of brand name Loestrin. Loestrin was not only better than ortho tri-cyc...

I have been on this pill for a few years and never had any problems. I started with this pill because of the iron in it. I've read some bad reviews but had to say I haven't had any of the side effects.

I got on the pill for the purpose of regulating my periods during two week-long trips in the month of July. It didn't work. I was bleeding the first day I landed in New York. The "spotting" as they call it was, at worst, 2 pads/day, for three days. The bleeding continued for ten days. Two weeks later, I bled again, though fortunately it was on the last day of a Mexican Riviera cruise. This spotting period lasted six days and was lighter than the first. Never, not once, have I skipped a day. I have heard that high altitudes and traveling can exacerbate the breakthrough bleeding. I am now on the second day of the iron period and do not plan to get back on, because I cannot afford to be bleeding every two weeks. I have experienced some spells of depression and over-analyzing thoughts, as well as decreased sex drive. I am not the most emotionally stable person to begin with, fyi. From now on I will go natural because I really don't think birth control is a healthy option for me. Read More Read Less

I have been off & on birth control for over 10 years. I was recently off for 4 months and decided to get back on. I told my DR that the TRI NESSA I was on was giving me headaches constantly. So she switched me to Loestrin but I got the generic Microfestin. Within 2 weeks I started breaking out. Not normal breakout just around my chin area. This is not normal for me. I called my DR and she said to give it another month but the acne is increasing and at this point I would rather deal with a slight headache then the constant worrying about my acne.Read More Read Less

I am just in my first pack of this pill. Nothing too terrible yet but it's too early to judge. This is my 5th birth control pill. I have been on Ortho Tricyclin Low, Yaz, Kariva, and Necon 10/11. Yaz was the absolute worst. The thing is, all of these reviews are individual. What works for me won't necessarily work for you. Anyways, I switched from Necon because I was having 2 periods a month that were VERY heavy or one 2 week period. My doctor chose this becuase it is low in hormones and she said that my weight was too low for a heavier dosage. This maybe relevant to some people or vice versa. So far so good with this pill but we will see. Anyways, best of luck to all of you searching for the "perfect" pill. Not sure that really exists, given that we are messing with nature.Read More Read Less

Also I've been angry when I wake up and didn't understand why until I did more research about this pill!!!! I have more mood swings and in a minute no one is going to be around me...lol! I had to quit taking them they just make me sick!!!

I'm going on my third month on this pill and have been pretty satisfied. I've had no horrible side effects like others have complained about. The only thing that I didn't like was that my first month, I had no period and the second month, it was VERY heavy. This pill is suppossed to make it lighter. One MAJOR advantage was that it heightened my sex drive.. me and the hubby love this :)

I have been on the pill (in general, not this particular one) for about 10 years. I have been using the pill primarily for birth control and regulating/ and less cramps, and not feeling so sick on my period. I switched to this one because the one that I was using before I was getting horrible headaches and cramping but after using this pill for not even an entire month, I would rather deal with the bad headaches any day!! I actually had to stop using this treatment within a week and a half because I was getting horrible and unbelievable side effects ( with the permission of both a pharmacist and my doctor). If this pill worked out well for you - that is great - but unfortunately it did not work for me. I was disappointed because I was actually looking forward to trying this pill due to the iron content in it. Oh well. Sometimes life is all about trial and error. Read More Read Less

My gyneocologist switched me to this drug two months and I have been unhappy since. I like consistency and this drug has no consistency. I have spotting in the middle of the month for a day or two and spotting at the end of the month for a day or two. As much as I hate to admit it, I like getting a period at the end of the pack. I don't get one and it scares me. I feel I have to take a pregnancy test every month to make sure I am not pregnant.

I have used this for over a year and just recently had to switch because it makes me extremely moody. I would go from happy to sad for absolutely no reason. Also I got extreme food cravings. Do not take this medication if you can help it.

DO NOT...AND I REPEAT...DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!! unless of course your ok with having acne, an increased appetite which then comes along with weight gain, and let me tell you about the mood swings!....My poor, poor boyfriend should get a "boyfriend of the year" award for having to deal my ass and the stupid moods this pill puts me. I wake up angry and go to bed angry, the smallest things extremely annoy the heck outta me, I cry for no apparent reason (the other day i hit the wrong button on my remote control and bursted into tears), and I just feel sad inside in sense of where I just want to be alone. I do not recommend this pill to ANYONE unless you can personally deal with this. I honestly want my money back!..but i guess these side effects varies from person to personRead More Read Less

I read all the other comments, and would like to say I am very pleased with Microgestin Fe 1/20. I used to take Lo Estrin Fe but with my insurance it was costing me $40 a pack, I recently switched to this pill and have no complaints. I don't have any mood swings any unusual change in my sex drive and notice that my period comes right on time as it should. I will continue use of this product. It works great for me.

I have been using this medication for 4 months now, and I have not been happy with it at all. I have been getting periods in the middle of packs every month. The first month, my period lasted 3 weeks. I have also had no sex drive at all. Overall, I have been pretty unhappy with this birth control, and I will be switchin it.

I started Microgestin FE 1/20 for six months now, and it has been awful. I have only had one normal cycle (without any spotting or early periods). I once had my period for 3 weeks straight. I have noticed mood swings where I would just start crying. I do not recommend this to anyone.

This is my 2nd and last month on Microgestin FE 1/20. Ever since I've started this pill I have been EXTREMELY moody! I cry all the time and I feel depressed. I have never been this way. All this started once I started taking this pill. I do not recommend this to anyone.

I have been on this pill for 5 months now, i have constant headaches that never go away... I currently live on aleve to help the headaches. I have no sex drive whatsoever... My contacts bother me all the time (I did not have these problems on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo however I kept getting cysts which is why I am using this god awful drug now) I am seriously considering getting off Birth Control all together because this pill makes me feel like I am going to either A. Have a heart attack at any moment or B. die of a stroke because of the constant headaches, my periods are HORRIBLE! and my boobs are constantly tender and I am nauseas all the time... I pretty much have just about every side effect of this drug! I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy! I would rather have babies than keep these deal with the headaches... also one more down side to this drug is the increased appetite, I can eat diner and be hungry 5 minutes later.. I am having to stay away from the kitchen so i don't gain 15 lbs on this pill! anywho just an FYI I have officially gotten off this pill as of today!Read More Read Less

I haven't even been on this bc a week, and I already hate it! I was on Yasmin for 3 years and no problems. I have had the WORST breast pain imaginable. In 5 days of use I had the most HORRIBLE indigestion, I literally though I was having a heart attack. In the 6 days I have been on this I have gained 2 lbs.!!! i recently lost 13, not good for my weightloss efforts. I emailed my Dr. and told her I was discontinuing my usage, and I would rather take my chances (wich I'm happily married, and want to concieve, but she wanted to regulate me just in case) instead. This pill makes me very unfriendly. I feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster! Some days are better than others. Good luck if you're taking (of starting). I'd rather be myself than this jekl/hyde person, who has aching breast, and a burning abdomen!Read More Read Less
