I had a lot of problems with ortho tri-cyclin lo. The most troublesome being severe dizziness and constant nausea. These symptoms were so intense the first week of taking the pill, I thought I obtained a virus or disease. After three months of no birth control and not getting my period, my gynocoligest gave me a trial pack of brand name Loestrin. Loestrin was not only better than ortho tri-cyc...

I started taking this pill about a year and it worked for me for about half the year with lighter periods not necessarily shorter. it also my first pill I have every taken. Then I stopped due to insurance reasons and recently started again. The only major side effect i'm having is NAUSEA so bad and not being able to sleep at night which I have never had when I first taking this pill. also in genera feeling AWFUL! if you are a person that can deal with nausea, then this is the pill for you.

Hello, I've been using this prescription off and on for about a year now. The only good thing I've noticed is that my cramps are light and my periods are light. Side effects (for me) include INTENSE mood swings, feeling nauseous, spotting, being hungry all the time,(extreme)decrease in sex drive, and possible depression. I've noticed that I don't really enjoy anything as much as I used to. Nothing really excites me anymore and my moods change more than the weather does. Earlier I was perfectly content and just a few minutes ago I was an emotional wreck. I feel annoyed and depressed all day long and I never get anything done. I do not recommend this product and I would switch if my local Planned Parenthood carried a different prescription...but they don't. Read More Read Less

I've been on this pill for 8 months now. I'm very happy with it, no problems, no mood swings, no weight gain, no problems with contact lenses. I've been skipping pills the sugar pills ever since so I haven't had my period for 8 months which is great!

I have used Microgestin for nine months straight now. I have had no issues with it. The price is quite reasonable ($30 for a 3 months supply under insurance). No weight gain, mood swings, hair loss, cramps, etc. None for me! I was on other BP, which caused me several issues in a way that I had to stop after only 5 days. Microgestin, however, was very convenient in my case. But, then every person varies physiologically and therefore I would not assume it would work equally the same way with everyone. Surprisingly, it did not work for a close friend of mine and she had heavy bleedings on Micro but I was quite content in contrast. Keep in mind that it works differently from person to person.Read More Read Less

Well, I did not have sex while on this medication, but I can tell you I had my period for the whole 3 weeks that I took it. My cramps were so unbearable that I had to use a heating pad, and my hair started to fall out.

I've just finished my first pack. This whole month has been very strange. Mood swings, I noticed I'm starving a few hours after taking it, which isn't normal, my sleep is messed up but I'm not extremely tired all the time, the cramps are HORRIBLE! The last time I had cramps this bad was during my miscarriage and before then I never got them. I feel bloated all the time and my diet hasn't changed a bit. When I first started it I was so irate with my bf and easily mad. I have no sex drive at all! As soon as I started this pill it went right out the door. I definitely would not recommend this pill to anyone. Read More Read Less

Switched from Loestrin 24 FE to Microgestin Fe to save some money. Was only on it for less than a week and had an allergic reaction the generic that was never present while taking the name brand version. Was itchy all over and had little bumps where skin was thin.

I have been on several different birth controls... My most recent has been microgestin Fe 1/20. Considering I have been on birth control for awhile, I never have really noticed any negative effects... Until now. I have lost a significant amount of hair, which I kept blaming on hair dye until I noticed scalp hair is a possible side effect of birth control. I Have thin hair to begin with, so this has been really frustrating. Along with the hair loss, my period is NEVER normal. I will get one randomly in the middle of the pack and then wont have one while I'm taking the placebo pills. The period does only last like 2 days, but I think it is more spotting than an actual period. Read More Read Less

ive been on this pill for a little over half a year now. it worked fine most of the time, but i had some occasions where my period would start randomly in the middle of the month. i also missed 2 periods in a row despite my perfect use so now i am on a different birth control pill.

I was on Loestrin 24 1/20 and was very happy with it. I switched to Microgestin 1/20 because it was easier on the budget. I took it for about 3 months and i'm ready to switch back. My periods are more painful and I missed one pill and started my cycle! I know the price differance is quite differant but heck it beats the chance of getting prego. Since this is a little bit weaker dosage that Loestrin 24... My advice don't waste your time on this brand.

I started taking the microgestin about two years ago. I started it because I normally have a period about twice a year (makes it hard to be sexually active, you can't help but think what if) It was weird at first because the first three weeks I had a period from 8am-4pm only. It straightened out by pack 2 and everything went fine since. I now notice for the past 3 packs that My period week is only 3-4 days long and I begin to bleed the other 3-4 during the second week. Reading up on the pill it seems that it's a typical side effect after being on the pill over a year and should phase out soon. Still, It's not serious enough to interfere with anything and shouldn't be held too harshly against. I'm very satisfied personally. Finding the right BC really depends on how your body reacts and I wish you luck!Read More Read Less

I started this because I was having complications with the Nuva Ring. I'm almost thru the 3rd month and I am constantly getting very aggressive migraine headaches. They come around the same time every day now. THIS pill is the only change in my routine since the headaches started. It's horrible, I'd rather go back to the ring.

I was on the Pill since 2003 (they alternately sent me this and Junel FE, by mailorder pharm.) I used to think Junel was the generic of Microgestin but boy was I wrong! They both suck as HBC pills, and as contraceptive methods! The dairy derivatives in the non-USP tabs aggrevated my lactose intolerance (so I had to get off the pill and switch to spermicidal condoms). BTW no periods on or off the Pill, and I was off the Pill since New Year's and haven't gotten visited by Aunt Flo since 5/27/08. You do the math! DxRead More Read Less
