I was given a short course of Tylenol #3 with Codeine for pain following a dental procedure. It helped, but was not as helpful as Vicodin. I would say this drug would be good for less acute/severe pain, while Vicodin would be better for stronger pain control.

Do not like the dizzy feeling after taking it. Is there any other sleep enhancement that does not have codeine or other addictive drug?

i was given this medication for severe back pain on 12/04/08 i have back sergery 5 years ago on L5-S1 after my sergery i was fine acually 100% better. up until now i was getting x-mas boxes from the basement and i heard my back pop when i lifted up a heavy box wich probably weights more than me!!(not really but it weighted i say almost 60 pounds)and im only 115 pounds anyway i hurt my back once again at L5-S1 with pain going down my left leg. so insted of giving me pecocets or oxycodone wich ive been on before for severe pain and they worked well for me, my doctor decides to put me on tylenol#3 with codeine wich ive never taken codeine before well i had really severe side effects nasua, vomiting, rash, sweeting badly ,blured vision. i would suggest that if you have never been on tylenol#3 with codeine please be careful it made me very ill.but also i dident get the chance to see if it would help me with my pain, but id rather be in pain then having to take this medication again,..i will stick with percocets or oxycodone wich i do know helps with my severe pain, and dosent make me sick(lol)but to the people that this medication does help thats great. i do hope it continues to help people with severe pain.best of luck to all people who have to deal with pain..because i know pain for me is unbearable with out medication,so find the best medication that fits your pain, once again best of luck to the people who take this medication and im sincerly glad that it does help people with pain!!!!Read More Read Less

This is a great pain reliever. Makes you a little drowsy and lightheaded, but well worth it.

I was prescribed this drug for a chronic condition ("Runner's Knees"), and I take a half tablet when I have swelling and pain. I have only ever needed one a day (in 2 halves usually), have no side effects at all and find that it does wonders! I have been taking it for about a year, occasionally don't need any at all and have never felt the need to take more than one tablet a day. No other problems, so I guess I'm the lucky one!

This was prescribed for chronic back pain. I took 1 and it did nothing for me. Then I took 2 and it didn't do anything but make me sleepy. I would not recommend this for chronic pain relief.

The medication had no positive affect on me. Did nothing for the pain, and only caused me to be very tired and groggy.

Other than causing me to sleep for hours on end, I had no problem with this medication during my short term use. (I probably needed the sleep anyways:)
