I thought I was one of the lucky ones to keep a regular period with this medicine. I did for almost a year. Now I get it every 2 weeks like it or not.

I had tried so many different kinds of birth control in the past but they all seemed to make me extremely moody or nauseated. My doctor suggested I try micronor. It was great because I experienced no side effects. But little did I know this pill doesn't have a high effectiveness rate, and I got pregnant. I just want to advise anyone who is on micronor to use a second type of protection

I have only been taking this for a few days, but the mood swings, depression, anger that I am experiencing are unbelievable. I can already feel acne developing as well. I need to stop for the well being of my family!!

I was switched to micronor because I could not handle the combination pills and despite all of the reviews I read before taking this pill, I have experienced not one single neagive side effect. This has been my third pill in a year and I was a little aprihensive taking it because I had read so many bad things about it. I do not have wild mood swings, I am not overly sensitive and emotional, I have had no breakthrough bleeding or complications with my period and my body has not reacted negatively in any way. I find this pill to be an absolute dream and I have nothing bad to say about it. :)Read More Read Less

I got pregnant taking this stuff. I take it at the same time as my diabetic medication, so I never missed a dose. Very disappointed. The side effects were okay. I got bad acne, and a little weight gain. That's about it.

I have been on 7 different kinds of BC, I get horrible side effects w/combined pills and the Mirena. This is my first mini-pill and I've been on it 1.5 months. Not too many side effects, but the ones I do have are annoying. The worst is the gas and constipation that has been increasing in severity over the month and a half. It began as mild gas a few hours after taking my pill (I take mine early in the evening), and now is severe abdominal cramping all night long to the point that it keeps me up half the night. This is combined with very small and infrequent bowel movements. I eat healthy, lots of fruit/veggies/grains, I am a runner, there is no reason I should be constipated. I'm trying to add even more fiber to my diet, if that doesn't work I don't know what to do. Read More Read Less

I have a blood clotting disorder, factor IV Leiden. After giving birth, 3 1/2 months ago I started having alot of unexplained symptoms...more headaches, low abdominal pain, mid & low back pain, spotting every other week, light headed, chest pain & feeling very tired & weak. After seeing a few different drs, I'm starting to think its this birth control. Anyone else have these problems?? Help please! :)

I have been on this pill for a month and a half now and I have no complaints. I was put on this pill by my obgyn because I could not handle the hormones from other BC, i.e. the Nuva Ring which I used for 8 months and then stopped (terrible side effects- weight gain, moody, decreased sex drive, etc) this pill is great. I have had barely any side effects, the only one being constant bleeding which is definitely annoying but IMO a small price to pay to have no other side effects. The bleeding started when I fished the first pack and hasn't really stopped. My BF doesn't mind, and I don't really either because I'm sure it will go away after a couple months. This medication has no estrogen so it's hard for me to believe other users experienced things like weight gain, moodiness, etc but I guess everyone is different. I would definitely recommend for anyone to at least try this - and try it for more than a couple months. Also it's annoying that you have to take it at the SAME EXACT TIME every night but as long as you set your phone alarm and ask your partner to be aware of it too, it's not too bad. P.S. I'm fit and active and 24 years of age. I do not smoke and am not at all concerned with blood clots or anything like that as they are very rare. Read More Read Less

I suffer from migraines when taking birth control with estrogen. It was recommended that I switch to Micronor. I have gone from 2 to 3 migraines a month (while on period) to one every few months (while on period). I have experienced some break through bleeding but it has been very light. My periods are lighter than when I've been on any other birth control (or none at all). I experience little to no cramping. I notice I tend to be incredibly emotional during my period, but this is nothing new. I would recommend primarily to those who experience estrogen-induced migraines.Read More Read Less

I've only been on this pill for 2 and a half months. I have endometriosis and having a period for me, can be very debilitating. I needed an option that would hopefully lighten or get rid of my periods for good, and for the last 17 yrs since my first period, I've been on over 20 different pills, shots, devices. The Mirena I had removed a few months ago because it was constant lingering spotting, breakthrough bleeding, painful periods, then a month or two of nothing but worrying if I was pregnant. Very unpredictable device. I had it for over a year. Now I'm on micronor, my last hope, that I can alleviate my periods, and so far I've had a period with it, and a week after that period, I got another period. I was nauseated with breast soreness at first, but now it's just breakthrough bleeding. Still waiting for relief here.Read More Read Less

I have been on this pill for nearly a year now and I think I am done. I have gained nearly 20 pounds, acne all over my face, chest and back (way worse than I had in high school) and the period has one incredibly heavy day where I don't know how I have enough fluid to go another 4-5 days as it feels like it just dumps out. Each period now lasts about 5-7 days for me vs 3. The first 4 months I wanted to rip my chest off my body, the breast tenderness was SO bad, I wanted them gone. Now that feeling is only occasional. I used to get headaches also. I find I am more tired and cranky when I never used to be and have to make more consious efforts to put a happy face on. I was told this is really my only option since the other pills contributed to high blood pressure (I'm 36 now) and since I started, the only positive has been the decreased pressure (considerably). If I don't take this pill within a few hours of the same time, my period essentially starts again but it's more breakthrough bleeding (a "lovely" shade of brown) for anywhere from 3-5 days. I think I am just done with this :( Read More Read Less

First off this pill gave me 4 full periods in 2 months. Then after a month of not bleeding at all I started my 4th month and gt all the side effects you would get upon first starting the pill, such as nausea, bloating, sore/tender breasts, acne, etc... I swore to God I was pregnant and that the pill had failed me. After taking 6 pregnancy tests in 2 months and finding all negative results I as thisclose to talking to a doctor about switching pills. I then started to feel the symptoms go away, but now I still have the acne and my periods that I do get are heavier than I've ever gotten in my entire life. I HATE this pill but don't have the option of switching because of Factor V Liden in my family history. Ugh... DO NOT recommend.Read More Read Less

A lot of people come on here to write negative reviews since people who are happy don't generally flock to review sites, but I just HAD to write. After painful sex and a lot of bad side effects on Yaz, I switched pills around about 5 times before finding Ortho-TriCyclen. Then I got the news that I had developed liver tumors as a result of taking birth control that contains estrogen (I had no idea this was a possibility). My only options were IUD or mini-pills (barrier methods make me nervous so I didn't consider them long-term). I went for a Mirena and it was the WORST pain I have ever had. I bit the bullet and decided to go for the mini-pill. I was worried it wouldn't be effective on me, and there aren't many out there so knowing my sensitivity to hormones, I prayed Micronor would work. I went on it in August and had a period a few weeks later, then I never got one again until February. It stressed me out at first since I worried I was pregnant, but I ended up loving not having to worry about it. No crazy side effects, mood swings, weight gain, etc like on normal pills. I have broken out on my chin a little bit more but one pimple/month vs a baby? It can be a bit stressful having to take your pill EXACTLY on time but I was always OCD, even with combination pills, so it hasn't changed too much for me. Just be careful, set two alarms if you have to. Overall, I love it... your body may react differently, but I'm throwing a good review out there.Read More Read Less

My doctor switched me from Ortho Cyclen to Ortho Micronor because I got headaches often. I will be honest, I would rather deal with my headaches than deal with this pill! Some spotting on the first pack, and I am currently on the second pack. No sex drive, headaches are still there (which honestly are more stress related than anything!), depressed and worse off-I ended my period about 9 days ago and I am currently experiencing heavy bleeding and serious doubled over cramping-started a few nights ago and it is getting worse. Dr's appointment tomorrow but she claims that she may not be able to switch me except maybe the Depo shot-which was a nightmare in itself while I was on that. I have come to the conclusion over the last couple of years I am sensitive to birth control. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!Read More Read Less
