The first 3 months of this drug definitely helped my RLS, but created nausea and hallucinations (flowers on the curtains jumping off curtains). I stuck it out though. 5 years later I still take the same dose but no longer have side effects. Definitely worth it in the long run.

I have suffered with RLS for years. I was up at all hours of the night and always very tired in the mornings. The .5 dosage made me extremely nauseous so I split the pills and took 1/2 for a week. Nausea began to subside so I went back to the .5 dosage. I had almost immediate relief! I'm sleeping better and actually feel rested in the mornings now.

Have had RLS for years. Requip & Mirapex (generics) worked well, then went into augmentation. Johns Hopkins is doing interesting work on iron & RLS. Google Dr. Christopher Earley & check out his 3 videos on YouTube. Low iron in the brain may be the cause of this miserable affliction, and not one MD in 100 understands it, even neurologists. If Requip or Mirapex are working for you - great! Just be aware that they may stop working one day. Check out Earley - ask your doctor to check him out. This may be the answer we have been looking for. And the very best wishes to all of you fellow-sufferers.Read More Read Less

I take this for RLS. It is effective but the only problem I have had is that if I take it at bed time I only sleep for about 3 hours. Now I take it at dinner and I am sleeping much better.

I have had RLS since I was in my 30s; slowly getting worst as I aged. Never knew what caused the achy ,jumpy pain when sitting at a movie or trying to sleep at night. My rheumatologist started me on it 10+ years ago; it's been terrific.

As is stated, I started at a lower dose and my doctor has increased it based on my symptoms. I began taking it a year ago for Essential Tremors related to a disorder that causes pain and stiffness in muscles. Research has shown that there is usually a problem with low dopamine with my condition, therefore the reason to try pramipexole as the tremors were worsening. I have had the dose increased twice from the original, but am still lower than the maximum. Although at first it seemed to make a quite noticeable improvement, I am beginning to wonder how effective it truly is. Pramipexole has reduced the severity of the tremors for the most part. However, I also have times when the symptoms have flared and increased in intensity and frequency. Sometimes even back to as bad as before I started taking this drug. Due to dopamine being a brain chemical, i have wondered if this might be a 'normal' occurrence as brain chemistry, like hormones, fluctuate. It would seem possible that the effectiveness would fluctuate as well. That is MY speculation only. My symptoms have never been totally relieved by this drug, but when they are noticeably improved it seems a good choice. My doctor did much research before prescribing this drug and information I had read lined up together. Part of my dilemma in using this is whether it is causing some undesireable side effects & how to determine its effectiveness with so many symptom fluctuations. I have had a hard time finding more information about regular as well as long term side effects as well as interactions with other medications.I truly want this to work, as nothing else has even touched the tremor symptoms! But, i also need some reassureance at this point.Read More Read Less

I've had RLS for years and this drug is my life-saver! I've been on it for 2 years and take 0.5 mg 2 hours before bedtime. If I miss a dose the RLS comes right back. No side effects.

I have been taking this medication for over 5 years. As long as I take it I have no problem with RLS. If I skip more than 1 night the RLS is back.

I was diagnosed with RLS during a sleep study for apnea. The doctor started me out on Pramipexole and it worked great but he tried me on Requip and it was awful, couldn't sleep. Finally convinced him to put me back on Pramipexole and its working great.

My doctor prescribed this for severe leg cramps at night. After trying many different remedies, I finally have relief and can sleep through the night. I have not had any side effects. I am so thankful for this medication.

I have RLS, which like most people is getting worse the older I get. all the older women in my family also suffer from it. My aunt put us onto Pramipexole as we had been told there was no treatment, in fact one doctor told me there was no such thing as RLS i take one tablet at in the evening as that is when I suffer most and find it to be very effective in stopping the symptoms. My mother and aunt suffer from severe spasms and cramping during the night and both have had excellent results with this drug. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Pramipexole for Restless Legs Sydrome, it has helped this condition but I find at certain times the drug does not stop my symptons until the next dosage is due. I have an appointment with my Primary Care Doctor in the near future & I plan on discussing this with him, plus I have Edema in both of my legs & ankles which began about two months ago.
