I have been on Omeprazole for 6 years. When symptoms of fatigue, serious leg pain, headaches, constant burping, gas and feeling like I had to throw up started happening, I went to my doctor of 27 years, explained what was happening and was met with silence. I have had to do research on my own; that's why I'm here. My latest blood work shows that for the first time in my life, I am Vit. D deficient...

I increased my dosage of Omeprazole from 20MG to 40MG a few years back. It's a very effective medication in terms of controlling GERD. However the issue I've been having with it is that it causes a noticeable degree of fatigue and it has lowered both my Vitamin D and Vitamin B-12 levels. I am currently taking supplements to increase my levels of those vitamins

Almost immediately after beginning this medication I experienced excessive drowsiness and blurry vision. I stayed on it less than a week as the side effects were so sever that I couldn't function.

Started out with H Pylori. Found out have Barrett's Esophagus(pre-cancerous condition). Told will have to take this med rest of my life. At times have difficulty getting to sleep and trouble with irregular BM's. Extremely fatigued. Many headaches. No anemia, no low iron, no low thyroid.Wondering if this is all side effects from the drug or just from my hyster surgery 4 yrs.ago. Concerned about the long term use of this drug. Tried Protonix, Pepcid with no noticeable relief. Not sure what other med is left to try. Still trying to this day to find out why am not feeling well overall. Read More Read Less

Even though this helped my acid stomach a lot, the side effects have caused me to stop taking this drug. My side effects include leg cramps, bloated stomach, excess mucous in my sinuses, insomnia, excessive sweating, no energy, general body aches and pain, dizziness, and extreme fatigued. I have noticed my nails are breaking and not growing along with joint pain returning so poor absorbtion of calcium maybe be side effect as someone mentioned previously. I am looking for natural herbal solution for my problem. So far drinking aloe vera juice is helping. I do not recommend this drug.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this drug for about 1 year. I have gained weight also. If I miss a dose I get the leg pain. This may be a withdrawal effect. I've been taking this drug in the morning and calcium in the evening since I believe this drug block the exsorbtion of some forms of calcium. I tried several other drugs. They all have side effects. I am thinking about getting the surgery for my Hytal Hernia. Plan to talk to my Doctor about it.

I have been taking omeprazole for 2 years and it has been very effective. I have noticed an increased weight gain, something I didn't need, but overall i am satisfied with the results.

Doctor put me on Omeprazole for six months ago without any complications. For me it works. No more indigestion / heartburn. If I go off for a day or two the symptioms return. Before, I took Pepcid which also worked on a temporary basis. Before Pepcid I was eating Tums and Rolaids like they were going out of style.

I tried the Omeprazole over the counter to cut my cost of Prescription Prilosec. Started having sever leg cramps and spasims, sleeplessness, headaches. My particular drug was mfg. by Dexcel LTD in Israel. Going back to Prilosec, no problems with it.

I was on Nexium, which worked wonders, but now the insurance won't cover it. This drug isn't nearly as good, and I've gained a lot of weight... makes me wonder, now that I've read of others gaining weight, too. Also, insomnia or hypersomnia... no happy medium.

I have been taking this drug for about a year and a half now and I really have noticed a major decrease in heartburn. I have had major weight gain & am wondering if this is one of the reasons. I have had increased, very fowl flatulants & loose & frequent stools. I am on a mission to find out about my weight gain. As of tomorrow, 6-9, I am not taking the med for about a month. I'll keep you posted...

I had most of the symptoms that were on the reviews after taking it for 3 weeks. Itching on my head, terrible taste in my mouth, back ache, dizziness. Have stopped taking it. My original symptoms have not come back.

I have been on this drug at lease 10 years or more--in the last 5 years I have had a redness of the gums and my dentist has done a biopsy and it shows inclusive, it started with a small redness on my guns and now is spreading on all my gums, I saw a new dentist the other day and he asked about my medications and I told him one of the drugs was omeprazole and he seems to thimk that that is what is causing my dry mouth and redness of the gums. at times these places get really sore and fire-engine red. I will be going to my medical Doctor on June 2 and would like to present this to him.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this since insurance no longer covers prevecid, after 3 months now, i have noticed a distinct lessening of stomache problems. Though over the past 3 weeks i have been battling insomnia, and after reading some of the other posts, im concerned that this may be the cause. I will stop taking for a while and see if that has any effect on my sleep patterns.

Treatment of Helicobacter Pylori (found in colon by biopsy)in combination with Amoxicillin and Biaxin. To take 14 days. Day 1. Took 3 meds at once PM: experimented insomnio, nigthmares/hallucinations, sweats and fever. Day 2 AM: horrible taste in mouth, thirsty all day, at night unable to stop eating later I had to vomit. Day 3: did not take med at same time, I took after lunch Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin and not feeling so bad. The taste is the mouth is awful and uncontrollable, drinking milk and eating chesse sandwich help a little. Still waiting for Dr. phone call to see if will modify dosis or stop medication. I don't understand why the treatment actually gives more symptoms than the illness. Why don't develop a short treatment with shots? God helps us if we really needs this treament. I read somewhere that natural medicine such as "green tea" and "dragon's blood herbs" help control the bacteria. Good Luck.Read More Read Less

was on nexium....insurance won't cover it, so Dr. switched me to this med. I am significantly anemic, have to take multiple vitamins also. DON'T YOU WISH OUR DOCTORS COULD DECIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR US INSTEAD OF THE INSURANCE COMPANIES?!?!?!
