The only reason I gave this med a low ease of use score is the slow dosage build up. It takes a long time to reach the theraputic dose. I did so well on this med -- no side effects and felt so normal. After about 6 great months, I started thinking that I was just so ok ... and that the bi-polar stuff was all in my mind and a missdiagnosis by the doctor. I quite taking it ... was great for a ...

I have found this drug has been the only mood-stabilizer that has given me almost complete absence of my symptoms of bipolar disorder. I was lucky not to develop the rash and increasing the dose slowly to 300mg has been easy with only thirst and a relaxing drowsiness as side-effects. Overall combined with seroquel I am living a life free of mood swings, depressive episodes and extreme high moods. A great drug in my opinion.

I had 2-3 seizures a day while taking 300mg bid. It was only after I had 8cm of my right temporal lobe removed that this became effective.
