Knee pain at rest and during and after playing tennis. Lots of ibuprophen taken to deal with pain. Had miniscal tear repair without any pain relief. Total reversal of issues after 4-5 wks on first series of Synvisc-One and even more relief after second series, eight months later. Very glad for this therapy and recommend to all friends and family!

Had the single injection Jan '12. Was told it would last 8 months. Today is Aug 13 and no real problems. I am a runner and couldn't do so because of pain. I now wear a knee brace and take Joint Juice and Glucosomine/Condroitin daily. Have a little discomfort but no pain. I can still run - am planning on doing a 10k this weekend. It worked for me.

I had success with the series of 3 shots, but the co-pays were becoming excessive. (Last series of 3 shots cost almost $600.) Decided to try Synvisc-One. Woke up in pain the first night. Ice & Aleve did not significantly help. Second night, more pain. Day 3 I am SO much pain it reminds me of when I had a burst Baker's cyst. I can hardly walk. Cannot straighten my knee nor bend it significantly.

Am on number 2 of the three shot Synvisc. I had the five shot 'halgan'prior for about two years. Big difference is halgan worked immediately and never had any discomfort from the very first one..first time it lasted a year. Second time only about 6 months, third time only 4 and a half months. Insurance would not pay for further treatments until past six months..also not medically safe. Synvisc on the other hand has not been as fast acting but am hoping I will have the longer lasting results as friends who say theirs have lasted more than a year..including my brother's (67). The Halgan worked so fast after the first shot I could have skiped home from the dr office..but it did not last long enough. The Synvisc hurts to walk if I pivot and the knee twists as in a golf swing.. number three shot in 2 days...all shots were totally painless. No side effects o n halgan and very little on Synvisc. Surgery for meniscus tear and further damage at P.T. then two years ago broke ankle and spiral fracture of fibula on same leg..these drugs are miracles.Read More Read Less

Was just injected with Synvisc one yesterday, hurt like hell! In both knees, could not bend my knees , and could hardly walk, still hurts today but a little better. I 'am told it takes a month before I will see it's effect. I don't think I would go through this again!

I received the series of 3 shots, each 1 week apart, in October '12. The 1st shot, no problem. The 2nd shot, had pain in my leg immediately after and the nurse said that was normal. The 3rd and final shot completely CRIPPLED ME. For more than a month, I had severe pain in my thigh--I felt like the shot killed the thigh muscle. I couldn't put any weight on my leg. Was hobbling around using a walker. Doc who administered admitted that he "didn't get it in the joint." Whether or not that had anything to do with the crippling effect, I don't know. Funny thing is, I discovered another woman who had the shots around the same time that I did and by the same doc and SHE WAS CRIPPLED TOO. The pain in my leg was so excruciating, that the thought of amputation actually crossed my mind. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SYNVISC to anyone!!Read More Read Less

Five weeks after completing the last of the three Synvisc shots, the treatment has not appreciably alleviated my OA knee pain.

I have had two separate shots of synvisc, one in May 2012 and the last May of 2013, in between I had a cortisone shote, in December of 2012. I have great luck with both for pain relief. I don't find the shots painful or hard to take. This last one caused a bit of pain right in the doctor's office, but it went away that afternoon. The nurse said it's because the injection goes in so fast, it creates some discomfort at the site. Understandable. A day after receiving the shot, I developed a severe headache, and other joints in my body were suddenly very painful. I read the side effects for synvisc and this is one of the more rare ones, but it was uncomfortable for me for several days. I didn't connect the two until reading the reviews and side effects more carefully. I will continue to get the shots but will mention it to my doctor. The shots make my knees feel great, so it's worth a few days of discomfort for six months of comfort.Read More Read Less

Had the third injection in both knees last Thursday. First two went well, mild swelling, little pain. Two days after the last injections I have a lot of swelling in both knees. Rest, elevation and ice are not helping. I have also been having severe lower leg cramps and found out I am anemic. I am hoping the swelling will go down. I cannot exercise. I can't walk or stand for very long. I WILL NOT do this again.

Have received Synvisc before (1 shot) and everything went OK; no complications & lasted at least 6 months. Received a new Synvisc shot Mar.19th ( 1 of 3 shots), but after 1 1/2 days received severe pain in both knees to point I could barely walk without cane or walker.Am slowly getting better with pain killers, cold & heat on affected area. Do not intend to take other 2 shots if I can't be assured I won't get same reaction to more shots of Synvics. This is worse than having my knees replaced.

I had knee pain that prevented me from the active lifestyle I had enjoyed for years, including running for exercise. Before the injections, any length of running left me with very sore knees for days. One month after I finished the 3 injections per knee, I am able to run without any pain, either while running or after my runs. My knees have not felt this good in years!

After reading reviews I was close to terrified of getting this. The first set of shots (both knees) were totally different with both knees. Left one, no pain. Right one hurt like the dickens. No after effects though. Somewhat better range of motion in both. 2nd shot got Dr. to numb the right knee and nothing for the left. This time no pain in either. Range of motion getting better and knees don't complain as much when getting up from a chair/stairs,etc. Third shot today. Same routine as second. No problems. Dr. said left knee was easier as I had had surgery on that knee before so the port required for the surgery thins down the knee and the shot goes in and gets delivered easier. At this point would do it again. We'll see how long it lasts. Best thing... I can go out to eat, sit for three hours and get straight up from the table and start walking. Could not do that before the shots, even with cortisone.Read More Read Less

74 year old woman, Bone on bone/arthritis in both knees confirmed by MRI. Candidate for total knee replacements. Received several rounds of Synvisc over the years. Went from severe pain, weakness, swellng, limping to total pain/sympton free. Relief from injections last up to 18 months. A miracle treatment for me. Went from using home stairs on my butt to walking/running up/down stairs.

I have had severe swelling in one knee and it is getting worse. My doctor says this is a normal reaction and not to worry but I am worried and it hurts more each day with redness and I am unable to bend my knee past 90 degrees.

Severe pain in both knees. Worn cartilage . I've been receiving synvisc treatment for over a year. It is ineffective, painful, hurts worse than before the treatments, and the little relief I did get lasted less than 3 weeks. I was given the one shot treatment every 3 months. I had to get steroid treatments in between the Synvisc. My back is worse than I ever remember. This I understand could be a result from taking the shots. I'm very disappointed, and am taking pain pills to be able walk even though it's at a very slow pace.Read More Read Less

I was having great pain walking as I had no cartilage and arthritis in my right knee. I was given steroid injection and then later given the three injections if SYNVISC. I have not had my knee feel this good in fifteen years.
