20 years ago I had the left side thyroid removed because of a growing non-cancerous goiter. No medication needed. 5 weeks ago I had the right side removed for the same reasons. Started taking L-thyroxine 125mcg in the hospital. It's a hard drug to take with all the restrictions. Currently I am taking it at night before bed. 4hrs after eating dinner and taking 2 antacids. After being tested for hypothyroidism, I started taking this medicine- it took about 8 months to get the dosage right for me. I am happy with the results.
