My 10 month old was prescribed this med for an ear infection after a horrible reaction to Omnicef (cefdnir). She has had zero reactions, complications, or side effects from this drug. Because it is taken twice a day the chance for upset stomach is unlikely.

My son is 4 and has a history of ear infections and pneumonia. After being on amoxicillin multiple times, he finally had an allergic reaction (red ring of hives around neck) after being on a strong dose for pneumonia for 7 days. After that he tolerated omnicef pretty well and has been on it several times. This week he came down with an ear infection, and the urgent care dr. prescribed cefaprozil. ...

Although this antibiotic relieved the flu-like symptoms our 2-yr old was experiencing, she had disturbing side-effects including, irritability, crying/screaming tantrums, restlessness, waking up at night, and increased and darkened urine. Our pediatrician tried to dismiss the side-effects as just the terrible twos. We insisted that he change medications. A followup visit and several calls later, he switched us to an alternative and the mood changes and sleeplessness disappeared immediately. Side-effects started appearing within 24 hours and our daughter was on the medication less than 5 days. Her urine is still dark in appearance, but seems to be improving.Read More Read Less

My 3yr old has suffered from ear infections since he was a baby and is in his 4th set of tubes. His doctor tried this medication because it is stronger, however he broke out in a horrible rash and cant stop itching. He is also unable to take penicillins.

My 5 yr old son was given this medication for a severe sinus infection. After the 2nd dose he vomited w/in an hour then the nexting morning he has a 3rd dose went to school & vomited again. He had to come off the medication & go back to amoxcillin. He wasn't nauseas just vomiting which is worse. He still maintained a great appetite. I believe this medication was just to strong for his system. Hope it works for others.

I have been taking this medicine for only 3 days and my hands and feet are swollen, every joint in my body hurts if I move. I can't write without pain. Advised by doctor to keep taking till runs out, if pain is still there, 2-3 days after meds are done to call him. That's still a week away!

My 21 month old has had ear infections and my doctor moved him on to this "more powerful antibiotic" stated by his pediatrician. The drug seemed to do the trick to quickly help his infection. I only had issues with the stimulant reaction, that he was unable to sleep normally. He seems more awake now at almost 10pm than two hours ago before I gave him his second dose. If not refrigerated, he will not take the medicine. Not sure about taste, but easier for him when cool.

My son took this medication for an ear infection. It seemed to make his ears better but he decreased his apetite for baby food all together. The taste is horrendous even covered covered up with the flavoring we took it back for. My son has chronic ear infections and this medicine seemed to be the only one to kick them however it started a loop-hole of other issues.
