Been on this medication off and on for 2 years due to fluid retention caused from other meds taken. Dosage 20 mg's 1 x daily. I enjoy being busy and torsemide taken with other meds causes a severe loss of potassium and salt. It createes cramps sometimes so severe that I can not sleep nights, worst in the evenings. When taken with large doses of potassium and high salt intake it works well. For th...

Have only taken for 2 days. I have type 2 diabetes and all of a sudden my blood sugar was 598 without other cause. I read here that it could rarely affect ones blood sugar. It has never been that high. Calling the Doc if it doesn't straighten out.

Have been taking 100 mgs. for a few years and, although it has reduced my high blood pressure and edema from using prednisone, it has been causing sever gout. The gout episodes have lasted for up to a month. Quit taking and now the edema is back, but the gout is slowly going away. Dr. is going to prescribe 20 mgs. a day, so we'll hopefully see an improvement for both the edema and gout.

i have been taking this drug for 13 years with chronic heart failure. the same manufacturer teva supplied it. they have stopped making the 20 mg. tablet so i have been forced to take torsemide from par, and pliva. they do not work the same. i accumulate water have trouble breathing with these other mfgs. they say there is no difference in the pills, but they are different. i have some teva that i take with the others when things get bad, but now am running out of them. looking for a good substitute. so far have not found one. teva torsemide was the best thing that ever happened to me along with nitro. i was so bad doctors were talking heart transplant. but after i started the above medications. i didn't need one. good thing they wouldn't give me one anyway. hopefully this problem will be resolved. i took 30mg. of teva, but 40mg. of the others. see the difference. not equal.Read More Read Less

Immediate cramps in hands, legs, feet. Potassium levels dropped, kidney "bun" numbers got very bad...spent two days in hospital recuperating...After many many years, diuretics and my kidneys are not getting along...facing possible heart transplant to boot.

I had been using furosemide 40mg for a couple of years to control my water retention BUT it caused my blood sodium levels to drop to critical level and put me in the hospital for 11 days, but I'm using torsemide now and it works for me with no other problems.

I have taken this drug for approximately 4 years along with Zaroxolyn 10 mg. 30 minutes before the 20 mg. of Torsemide. Sometimes good, sometimes not. Fluid always returns, short acting.

This medication is easy to use and works very well BUT I have to stay home for about four hours after taking it as I am in the restroom every 10-15 minutes. It is a bother and restrictive that way. The fluid comes back on the next day though so I have to take it everyday. It is quick acting and short lived. My other diuretic is slower and last several days, but is not as effective. Everytime I take torsemide oral I get flu like symptoms though and heart palpations but no leg cramps.

Experienced some leg muscle cramps. MD not monitoring electrolytes. Not always effective, need to take an extra dose infrequently, really causes leg muscle cramps with extra dose.
