I am 65 yrs. old. Have been taking Prempro for approx. 12- 15 yrs. and hope to continue forever. I look and feel great. No side effects that I'm aware of. My Dr. encourages me to stop taking, but I keep telling her, "why fix something that isn't broken". I started out on the highest dose and 3 or 4 yrs ago switched to the lowest dosage. I have no history of breast cancer in my family, it's ...

Last year I went to my dr with hot flashes, sleeplessness, irritability, and fatigue. Had no period for a year so I was put on low dose Prempro. IT WAS AMAZING! All the symptoms went away! I had more energy than I had had in years! Then in May I experienced chest pains and bening over 50, my first thought was Heart Attack! Went to the emergency room and after test after test coming back normal, I went to my gynecologist and he took me off Prempro. After a couple of months I had no chest pain , but the menopause symptoms were back. So back to gynecologist and he put me back on Prempro. After only a week my chest pains were back and bad! I have took myself off Prempro and will look for other ways to deal with menopausal symptoms! My advice is don't start Prempro and find other alternatives. Read More Read Less

I have been on prempro for 6 weeks and all my systems have decreased ( insomnia, mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness,) After the fourth week my appetite increased, my legs cramped, I became bloated and extremely fatigue during the day to the point where it was unbearable to go throughout the day without taking a nap. I hope in time this will decrease as well.

I have been on this medicine for 6 weeks. The first day I noticed a difference. Overall the depression, night sweats, irritability, mood swings and insomnia have went away. My appetite decreased and my energy went off the charts,I even lost a few pounds the first two weeks. I felt normal again. However after the fourth week I noticed a change. I started my period (which was missing for 8 months)It was full blown and lasted for 8 days, which wasn't the norm for myself. I also started experiencing bloating, and heartburn, leg cramps and weight gain.I have always worked out 6 days a week and have been very active and watch every little thing I put in my mouth. It appears that no matter what I do the weight, bloating, gas, constipation and retaining water in my hands, feet and face is more than I had hoped for. I'm not eating more yet the bloating is unbearable.I use to have a flat tummy. I'm debating taking it every other day but from what I read I doubt if that would change anything. If it doesn't decrease I will be calling my doctor. Read More Read Less

I had regular periods until age 59. Have not experienced any hot flashes, ever. Started Prempro 6 months ago due to insomnia, joint achiness, brain fog and mood swings. Basically , I was tired of feeling lousy. By day two of Prempro, I felt that I was thinking more clearly, the joint achiness has totally subsided, sleep is 75% better and moodiness is much less. I feel better on the Prempro. I am concerned about the side effects but am a believer in quality of life. I have not experienced any significant weight gain due to HRT. I have had some slight breast tenderness in the last two months but it is sporadic . No bleeding or spotting.Read More Read Less

I've been on the lowest dose of Prempro for 2 weeks now and I'm happy to report that it has helped my hot flashes, irritability and moodiness. Before that, I thought I was going crazy. Thank goodness I haven't experience any of the (bloating, bleeding, dizziness, etc.,) side effects mentioned above. Will continue to take in until my doctor says otherwise.

my first couple of days on prempro I had low grade headaches and nausea. I actually lost a few pounds much to my surprise after reading all the reviews regarding possible weight gain. It's now been just over 2 weeks and I'm having a period again after 1.5 year with no period. I'm also having unbearable cramps and stopped taking prempro 2 days ago. Hoping the period and cramps will stop now. It has helped tremendously with hot flashes and I'm sleeping more soundly. BUT...I can't take the very painful cramps. Unlike any cramps I remember. I'm thrilled for all the woman that this drug has helped but it's not for me.I'll seek out other solutions or just continue to pay high electric bills to cope with the hot flashes.Read More Read Less

Where to begin? Dr. Put me on Prempro to help with the hot flashes, insomnia and moodiness. Be careful ladies, this pill threw me into a downward spiral to the point of suicidal thoughts. To top it off, hot flashes and sweats are still a problem, plus dry, blurry eyes and bloating. Going off immediately! Just plain scary!

within 2 weeks I started having heavy menstrual cramps, almost labor pains, and eventually started bleeding, but had already stopped the medication. The severe hot flashes had gone away, thankfully. But are now back in force, all within a month!!

Started taking this drug for hot flashes and it worked great, however, over time developed optical migraines - was having 2 to 4 per week. Doctor could not explain reason for migraines. Then started having mini-strokes. Stopped Prempro and immediately stopped having optical migraines and strokes. Hot flashes returned, however.

I never had any luck on antidepressants...now, I am again having bouts with sweating, extreme fatigue, anxiety and depression. My dr is going to up it to .65/2.5 dose. Is is possilbe that I could truly benefit from raising the dose...anyone know ? I am really scared !!!

I have been on prempro for 1 year. At first it was great no more hot flashes, which I had very bad. But gradually I had my period every day, cramping, very heavy bleeding with small clots, have to wear a tampon every day. I did not have me period before taking the medication. I am going to ween off the medication and take 1 tab every other day, see how that goes, just to keep the hot flashes away. If the period is still every day I will trade hot flashes for a period every day. I really dont know which one is worse. Prempro not working for me. Read More Read Less
