Given Amlodipine 5mg by my doctor to treat high blood pressure. All fine until about 6 weeks of taking it, then the side effects started appearing. Tiredness, headache but mostly gum and teeth pain. I've been to my dentist and all was ok. Going back to the doctors tomorrow, definitely need to change my medication.

I've been taking 5mg Amlodipine Besylate for almost 17 years. Because it is a calcium channel blocker I believe that my arteries have stayed relatively clear. However, I did have an aorta valve replaced with an artificial valve two weeks ago. That has worked out well. In order to have that done via TAVR my arteries had to be relatively clear which an angiogram proved they were. If I have had side effects from Amlodipine, the worst has been some edema. But that is taken care of with a daily dose of hydrochlorthiazide, 12.5 mg. My ankles are fine as a result. I walk every day and when I am permitted in less than a month I can go back to my hand weight workout routine and bike riding. Read More Read Less

I am 29 years old, started this medication almost 2months ago. 5mg amlodipine 10mg atorvastatin. At the first month it was doing great wonders. BP 140/90 went to 118/78 heart rate 60-70. But during the second month. My right side joint on the feet, knees, arms felt painful. Arms felt heavy and neck and right side of head feels tight. I am also experiencing constipation. My BP never lowers down at 130/90 and heart rate increased from 60-70 to 90-105. Feeling horrible for two weeks now.

Doctor changed me from Lisinopril to Amlodipine several years ago. Amlodipine has worked well. Blood pressure now averages 115/73. The only side effect I notice is some tiredness. I exercise daily. Have a healthy diet about 50% vegetarian.

SEVERE Anxiety, and depression for 2 whole weeks, (ongoing small panic attacks and heavy mood swings even 4 weeks later) even with only 5 days of taking it. BP did not drop below 180 in that time, so it had the opposite of the wanted effect. My doctor immediately switched to something else

I started on a 2.5 mg dose for high blood pressure average of 143/87. I took it at night for the first time, and the next morning my BP was lower 121/75. As the day progressed, I was doing my normal daily activities and started to feel "off" at about 10 am. Felt like my heart was racing, felt flush(hot), my chest felt odd- like I couldn't get a deep breath. By early afternoon, I contacted my doctor, I had chest pain, headache and the same weird feeling. She sent me to the ER. I had a two EKGs and two high sensitivity Troponin tests and a chest X-ray over a 12 hour stay at the ER. All results were normal. Dx. from ER Cardiologist - rx to medication. I am not a fan of this med at all. I started using it and got chest pains, arm pain, dizziness, brain-fog, and terrible flu-like feelings of clogged sinuses and mucus. I also felt winded doing simple tasks which is scary and tells me this is not good for my heart or body. I am very worried about what to do since I cannot tolerate ACE or ARB due to reactions to both. So now I am left with no idea on how to control my pressure since the big 3 used on most people I cannot tolerate.

I have gained weight and also hair loss..did anyone lose their hair

I've never felt so bad since using this poison...brain fog heaviness chest pains fluctuations of blood pressure I've halfed my 2.5 mg to 1.5 still feeling crappy on it waiting for a appointment with my GP I need to get of this I'm used to being focused.

Heart rate increased from my normal 60 to 90, increased diastolic blood pressure from 90 to 96, while no impact on systolic blood pressure which was 144 and was same with amlodipine. For me telmisartan, losartan, ramipril were also not effective. I can't take metoprolol or atenolol as these lower my heart rate to 44-46. Ultimately only clonidine helped me.

I have been on this medication for years last several months I’ve notice ! BRAIN ?? FOG BAD ! And my EYE ??? MUSCLE TWITCHING out OVE CONTROL , I take 10 mg , but I think ?? it’s TIME TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE !, it’s getting REALLY WEIRD ?? SIDE EFFECTS I DONT LIKE IT !!

Extreme fatique, back and shoulder pain, weak muscles

This was a new doctor and he thought my bp medication was wrong--I took Coreg for 5 years and never had a problem..He gives me telmisartan and it goes up..I say put me back and he says lets try adding 5mg of amlodipine.. Its now the 3rd day I wake up at 4 AM and I can not walk to the bathroom..Knees and ankles feel frozen ..started to pee just as I crawled up to the bowl..I felt so bad I have never done this before...I did not go to him for a BP problem that makes me mad..

This medication lowered my systolic blood pressure by 20 points, and has had no side effects for more than 5 years. It was prescribed after diuretics adversely impacted my sodium levels.

Has absolutely lowered my BP but it has side affects. I have developed Tinnitus, muscle aches, and heavy tired legs. I wake with severe dry mouth every morning and a post nasal drip all day.

thought I was suffering from onset of early dementia! forgetful, spacy, i.e. leave my wallet in the car only to have to run out from store to retrieve it (never ever did that before) getting ready to go somewhere will put down keys or phone and not remember where a few min later. only taken amlopidine for four days. FOUR DAYS.

T Amlodopine dehydrated you dry skin never had before what's worse it causes dry stools and constipation swollen feet and ankles at end of the day constipation causes hemroids mostly because it takes the water out of the stool bc you are always urinating dr won't listen to me so I'm cutting the dose to 5mg on my own Dr's get big bonuses for promoting these drugs lowers BP but ruins your body in the long run

I have taken this for 12 years and it used to work but now it’s back to the drawing board finding another BP med works for me.

This medication gave me edema, rash, neck pain and stiffness. My carotid artery was enlarge and lumpy. My tonsil hard as a rock and had difficulty breathing. Very tire bed rid, fever and inching. Stopped medication and my tiredness and breathing problems stopped leg edema and rush clear after a week. The neck stiffness, inching, face redness and carotid artery enlargement and lumps clear after a month. Although some inching and heat rush on my left side of my neck is still a problem, but not as bad as when my neck was hard as a rock.Read More Read Less
