I am 26 years old. A year ago I was diagnosed with sub-clinical hypothyroidism, so we began treatment. I started with 25 mcg, moved to 50, 62.5 and am now on 75mcg. I like the tablets because they are easy to split (hence the 62.5) and the different dosage levels are different colors. That way when I increase my dose, I don't get the tablets confused. I've read some reviews with people who sa...

I was on Levoxyl for years and had a severe reaction to it that the doctor never picked up on. it was Awful being itchy all the time for no reason and nothing would cure the itch that was only located on my thighs down to my toes. I would scratch until I would have bad black and blues bigger than the size of 2 Half Dollars. I have a large family, and once I discovered it, it just so happens that m...

I had thyroid cancer and my thyroid was completely removed. I started on the generic right after surgery and for 4 months I felt like an 80 yr old woman. I took naps and had no energy whatsoever. My sister kept telling me to switch to Levoxyl and so my doctor prescribed it for me and I have been taking it for about 2 months now and I feel so GOOD!!! I have energy, I am losing the weight I gained while I was taking the generic. When I went to the drugstore to fill the Rx the first time they tried to sell me the generic and I had a bit of an argument with the Pharm Tech trying to tell her I didnt care that the name brand drug cost more, I was tired of being tired and fat!!! Not all drug stores carry the name brand, sometimes you have to drive to another store, but I will never go back to ANY generic again!!!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in early 2007. I had a child in September of 2006...apparently I hap probably had hypothyroid since then because my endocrinologist said my levels were the worst she had ever seen! I think 400 or 500! Horrible. My symptoms were very severe by the time I saw the doctor...I didn't know there was a proble for so long becuase since I had my daughter I just figured the tiredness and such were due to just being a new mom with an infant! I had severe muscle cramps in my legs but felt very achy all over my body. I was snoring badly because my thyroid was so enlarged, and I couldn't even walk more then maybe 20 seconds without being tired as if I had run a marathon..I literally felt like an old woman or something! I started at 50 mcgs of levoxyl then 1oo then 150...been at 150 for the most part. I feel much better than when I was diagnosed, but I still feel tired more than I used to before the hypothryoid...and when I wake up sometimes I feel achy for about 30 minutes or so. Also sometimes I get really shaky as if my blood sugar is very low. I was checked for diabetes just to make sure but thankfully negative. I hate that you have to wait 30 min. to an hour before eating, because I have always been ready to eat first thing in the morning. And I have to take a vit. D pill but it's inconvenient not to take them at the same time...I'm a busy girl with a child and I am VERY bad about remembering to take my pills. Gotta get better at that. I have gained about 20 lbs. since developing hypothyroid, but I really haven't made a good effort to try to get it off so we'll see how that goes...all in all hypothyroid is the sucky part and the med. is just the added bonus! =(Read More Read Less

This Brand seems to work better for me than the levorthyroxine generics. I take this with Cytomel which has really helped me with my achiness and other symptoms that levorthyroxine did not help.

At 45 I was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism (TSH-56) in 6/2007. started on 88mcg. Got better, than bad again. Today I'm up to 125mcg's. I too have continued to gain weight. >30lbs. That's even with dieting. I still have zero energy, and many of hypothyroid symptoms. I feel like just giving up.

I have been taking this medicine since the removal of my thyroid due to thyroid cancer in March '08. Though I've been on this medicine for almost a year, this past month I have been experiencing bothersome symptoms that might have been related to being on too high of a dose. The serious symptoms I have been experiencing were shaky hands, light-headedness, fast heartbeat, and anxiety. I am also taking Vyvanse for treatment of ADHD and mixing the two drugs together with the negative side effects I developed made them worse. It does take a while for tremors and high pulse rates to go back to normal so I'll still have shaky hands for a few weeks. Otherwise I've had no problems with this medication until recently.Read More Read Less

ever since i started taking levoxyl my weight goes way up then down , i guess it is okay but very frustrating. nothing in my routine has changed neither has the food I eat, other than I eat smaller portions and still gain weight. has anyone else had this happening to them, I talked to my doctor and she says it is not the thyroid problem I am eatting too much. I eat less than my 5 year old grandson. I do not eat snacks and I drink alot of water. I wish someone else could tell me if they have this same problem and if they found a way to change this, I have gained 55 lbs in the last 6 months, if you have had this problem and found away to lessen this please let me know.Read More Read Less

I wish levoxyl came in a coated form. I sometimes have difficulty swallowing it. It starts to dissolve too quickly in my throat.

I have just read through most of the comments from users of this drug. I have been taking Levoxyl for about 3 years. I too have been having terrible hair loss, night sweats, cramping & pain in the back of my neck and feel tired. I did not relate these symptoms to my use of this drug until I read it here. Not sure what I will do, but talk with my doctor about changing to another drug...if there is one out there with out so many side effects. Thank you for the information you posted.

I believe this treatment is the best course of action to help my hypothyroidism. I need blood tests every 6 months because my levels fluctuate since I've been dieting and lost some weight. My endocrin. says for every 15 lbs of weight gain/loss a blood test should be done. Lately, I've been feeling sluggish and cold, and no weight loss for a few months...an indication to me that I should have my levels checked....

I also noticed my hair falling out. Does anyone know if this will go away, or if it is going to keep falling out?
