I have received injections every three months for the last 1.5 years due to chronic back pain from a car accident. The injections are, at first, very painful, and it can take up to 6 days for me to fully recover, but within a week or two I feel perfectly fine! With these injections I am able to retain full range of motion with very limited back pain. Unfortunately, I do have to go through this sam...

I have arthritis in my knees. was given a shot of Depo Medrol in each knee.3 hrs.later I ended up at the Hospital and I could not walk at all...My legs both were like jelly; and they still do not work. What can I do about it...its really making me depressed. The Depr Medrol apparently did not agree with me so what is the next step???

I just had my epidural injection to my back this past am at L4 and L5 for left hip and back bursitis. I am a diabetic and my blood sugar shot up to over 400 and can't get it below 350 I also noticed severe shortness of breath and angina pain, probably caused by increase in fluid retention. Will notify my personal physician this am for added insulin treatment. If this helps my chronic back pain then I will consult with my Dr. to alleviate side effects. I also have insomnia at the present, but this should subside, hopefully. Read More Read Less

I seem to get a average of 60 relief of pain in my arms. Initially I have a considerable amount of trouble sleeping and night sweats after the injections and the injects do not work right away.

Received a 40mg injection for a torn miniscus (cartilage) of the knee. Within 4 days my blood pressure started to rise and landed me in the ER twice. It took a month for me (and my general practitioner) to figure out what was causing my blood pressure to rise to such dangerous levels. I'm now on 3 different blood pressure medications! Never again will I have a shot of this medication! On the flip side, the shot did enable me to continue to walk until surgery which is scheduled in 2 weeks.

DO NOT USE!!! My family doctor gave me this shot.but failed to mention he gave me 150mg. The first 8 hours after the shot I started getting flushed in the face, heart racing and skipping beats. By the 4th day Iwas in the e.r. for extremely high heart rate, more trouble beathing, started wheezing(which I did not have before the injection),very weak, and every time I would try to get up and walk I would feel dizzy, and almost passed out. Then I finally just fell because my legs felt like jello. THe e.r. said my doctor overdosed me, the e.r. docotr said 150 mg is way to high a dose and also said Iwas lucky I didnt have a heart attack. My heart was racing at 130 beats a min. I had to be put on Oxygen, breathing treatments, and kept over night because my oxygen levels dropped so low ,I was almost put on life support. All I can say is STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRUG,NO MATTER WHAT DOSE YOU TAKE THIS DRUG HAS NASTY SIDE AFFECTS. I WAS ALSO THROWING UP BLOOD CLOTS..STAY AWAY,BE VERY CAREFULL BEFORE TAKING THIS MEDICATION. THIS ONE SHOT ALMOST KILLED ME....Read More Read Less

I receive treatments every 6 weeks for myalgia (muscle pain in my neck, back, shoulder and hips). I am usually sore for a day or two then start feeling better. I also feel awful the first night or two (insomnia, sweating, flushed cheeks). This time I also experienced stomach pain upon urination. Tests show an infection and put me on Cipro. I'm very nervous about continuing this treatment.

I just had my second injection into my knee in 5 months. The injection worked so well the first time, I had forgotten about the side effects. The second injection has reminded me of the horrible headache and sleeplessness I experience. I also am experiencing some irregular heart beats again. Hopefully these side effects will diminish soon, as the shot is very effective in stopping the knee pain!

RSD/CRPS (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy also called Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome) from and auto accident in 1998. I was totally dysfunctional until 2001 when epidural DepoMedrol injections helped me be able to function within the family (but not return to work). My pain had spread everywhere (meaning in body and limbs, spreading top right, down, then across the spine, top left, down). This drug got it under control. To have had it earlier would have stopped the spread. I get much less of it now than then. I was told benefit would plateau, and it did, but the first effect was dramatic. I still have many problems, but at least I was more available to the family. Side effects of fatigue and depressed mood are temporary, and fade in a week or so after treatment (then I'm back to the normal fatigue and mood from the disease). I recommend the drug to those having had a trauma, and RIGHT AWAY, to stave off the possibility of RSD/CRPS (first six months after trauma). My life would be better had I been treated sooner. Medical community needs to be more aware... There are millions of RSD/CRPS sufferers un-diagnosed, or misdiagnosed. Read More Read Less

My orthopaedic doctor gave me 40 mg of depo medrol. It was not a good experience. I was sick for a week, just sick and aggitated uncoordinated and no sleep. the next week I began checking my blood pressure and it was elevated, I never had bp problems prior. I developed migraines and intermittent dizziness, my voice changed, my legs became week. my heart raced. I went back to see the doctor and he refused to see me. I saw another doctor and was told to take a tylenol for my headache. i will never take those injections againRead More Read Less

This is the only treatment that works for me. Tried all the other RA treatments, nothing works like this. I receive an injection in my buttock once every 4 months (if I stretch it) Have been known to come in 3 - 3-1/2 months) The injection does not hurt at all. Relief is instant. I can run, walk, climb stairs, etc. which by the 4th month is very painful. It truly is a miracle drug for me. I might get an occasional hot flash or sweats but that is all. It might not work for everyone, but it does for me. Nothing else worked. I do feel slight tingling in my toes from time to time and numbness but that is the worst. Read More Read Less

I have an injection every 4 months. After many treatments for RA, nothing worked. The only pain relief I receive is from this injection. I can walk, get out of the tub easily. It is really like a miracle for me. I know when the 4th month is coming because I feel pain all over getting worse each day. I do get hot flashes and sweating which are uncomfortable but better than constant pain. My bone scans are fine for me age (65). Without this I would not have the quality of life that I do.
