I had thick, yellow and black nails for years but was reluctant to take the medication due to cost and possible side effects. When it infected my right thumb I decided to take the risk and AM DELIGHTED that I did. The generic version is very affordable and I had no side effects what so ever. I also had thick cracked heals. Two years later I still have healthy feet and nails and can now wear sa...

I've been taking this for nearly 90 days now. I've not noticed any side effects. It looks like I have clear nail growing in but boy is it slow about it. I'll be glad to be rid of the fungus. I've had it as long as I can remember.

I had one fungal toenail, the big toe. It is first occurance, but didn't treat it right away. In fact many months passed until I could start addressing it. I was prescribed the RX (Terbafine) by PCP to take for 90 days. And then to meet with a Podiatrist. Was told the rx needed to work for that long before taking further steps. I initially read side effects but didn't recognize it later. I thought the symptoms were from another situation. 2 1/2 months past and I realized the daily pangs of pain in stomach, loss of appetite, changed sense of taste, and high anxiety were indeed from the Rx. I stopped at that point and in a few days I felt so much better and calmer and eating more normal. I've just seen the Podiatrist who used a tool that seemed to shave off the affected part of toenail (half of whole nail).(And the tool process didn't hurt, just to know.) It will now grow back he said. Also, while taking the rx I did not see any change in the fungal area of toenail. I thought that part of nail would begin to dimimish, but not. Although, I wasn't sure what to expect. But let me share here, that when I told the Podiatrist about my experience with rx, he said that it is a "very strong" drug. I didn't know that. In fact, the article/info by WebMD doesn't say anything about this. But gosh, from 3 months ago to now, it was quite an experience. I was told I should have the nail growing back within 4-6 months. I have been taking this RX for 45 days and 2 weeks ago, I noticed everything I ate is bitter and/or tastes like dirty feet. My tongue feels heavy with a constant bitter taste. Nothing I eat tastes good. I have lost weight due to not wanting to eat anything. I stopped taking this RX on Friday and will contact my Dr on Monday. I have stopped taking this RX because I found I didn't want to eat due to this side effect.

I tried every over the counter ointments, pills, etc. for 6 years, nothing worked. When I finally talked to my physician about it, she prescribed terbinafine HCI to me. The first 2 months of using it I didn't notice any drastic change. Starting the 4th month my nails started to change color and grow normally again. I had a satisfactory experience with this medication.

I had an extremely negative experience of this drug. I began to take it at a time when I was experiencing mild anxiety, but didn't think the drug would have any effect on my mental state. It took me 6 weeks to realise it was seriously exacerbating my mental health symptoms. I experienced extreme erratic mood swings, anxiety attacks, periods of depression and pervasive negative thoughts, at times related to suicide. After I stopped taking the drug, my symptoms began to fade away but I am still dealing with the consequences a month later. I would strongly discourage anyone working through mental health issues from taking this drug, at least without proper monitoring.Read More Read Less

I had a fungal infection in my thumb and finger. My cuticles had lifted and moisture got under my nails. Prescription was for 90 days. I am nearing the end of the 90 days and I've had no side effects. The new nails growing out look very healthy and the cuticle on my thumb seems to be growing back. Nothing on the other cuticle yet. I've also been using lotion more frequently. The skin around my nails was dry, peeling and inflamed. I'm very pleased with the results.

Have been taking this for 25 days and have not noticed much improvement yet. When I first broke the seal on the bottle, I noticed that there were different shaped tablets there; I was told that this is common with generic drugs. I would guess that 40-50% were oblong in stead of round. Today I discovered (by using this site to looking up the tablet markings) that the oblong tablets were in fact a generic Tylenol. Seeing these tables come in sealed bottles from the manufacturer, no blame can be placed on the pharmacy. If you are given this drug, I would recommend breaqking the seal and looking at all the tables before leaving the pharmacy. I just refilled my prescription, and there were no acetaminophen tablets in this bottle.Read More Read Less

This and every anti fungal I have used are totally worthless. The first day or two there seems to be a slight improvement then it gets worse than before.

I've been taking this medicine for 40 days (the prescription was for 42 days), when my stomach began to be very upset and my taste changed. I stopped taking it, there are 8 days now since I cannot taste any food, my tongue is heavy and bitter, I can hardly eat. Even water seems bad (bitter), it's terrible. My stomach is still upset, I had pains. The toenail is fine now, but I'm very depressed because of not being able to taste anything. I'll check my liver to see if there is any damage there (I"m afraid so) :( I would never have taken it, if I knew what happened Read More Read Less

I have had very bad Athlete's feet since 1999! My toe nails were brown with a hard crust underneath, and a white ash coloring around the heal and sides of my foot! I finally took action and saw my dermatologist. I was prescribed this medication and within 4 months is saw a vast improvement! I had two 90 day prescriptions, and by the time I was finished my feet and nails clear and had completed the regrowth of my toenails!

I have now been taking terbinafine 250mg for toenail fungus for approximately 24 days and can really not tell any difference in my nail fungus. I could see that Jublia which I was using for a couple of months prior to switching to terbinafine 250mg was working slowly but surely but my toenails have had no real change in 24 days since I stopped using Jublia. I will take the terbinafine 250 for a few more weeks to see if there is any changes before I talk to my doctor about changing back to Jublia. So far I have had a problem with lower back pain the last week or so which is annoying but not unbearable. It's almost time for me to have a blood test to see if all is well with my liver. I'll stay in touch and let you know how things go in the future with terbinafin 250mg.Read More Read Less

I have just started Terbinafine 250 and am not really sure yet. This is my third day of taking it. I was using Jublia topical on both my big toes where I had the fungus from a bad pedicure and my right one cleared up and it seemed to help but now my Doctor said he recommended Terbinafine 250 because the fungus was probably in the nail bed of my left big toe where the topical could not reach. I was pleasantly surprised to find the cost was VERY reasonable after the outrageous cost of Jublia. I plan to follow up my results here every two weeks to let you know how it is going with me. So far no real side effects.Read More Read Less

Developed a severe rash 3 weeks after starting Terbinafine. Rash started on neck, shoulders and head and then spread over entire body. Stopped the drug immediately and had to take Prednisone and heavy doses of Benadryl to manage the itching and rash, It's been 4 weeks since the rash developed and I am still getting flares ups. Bummed as the new growth on the affected toenail looks so much better.

After getting a reaction to a facial cream with retinol (Neutrogena Retin-A) that resembled chemical burns in severity, fungus infected the skin of my face. When I started on terbinafine, I had had the infection for 5 months and had had unsuccessful treatment with Daktakort and Elidel. It kept coming back. I took terbinafine (1 tablet daily) for 3 months and used Avar facial wash every other day. It has been one month since I finished the medication and the fungus has not come back. I was very lucky not to have any side effects at all. My dermatologist did monthly liver panel blood tests, and those were normal as well. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this drug for 6 months. I seen improvement in my toenails but, it caused a severe itchy rash on my face, neck, and arms. The rash look like ring worm but it has a red ring with dark discoloration in the center. I am dissatisfied with this drug.
